I'm looking to get another corgi puppy and this puppy is 4 weeks old. He has a lot of black on the nose and under his nose and mouth. Will this go away? Or is it like a birth mark? All the other puppies do not have this so it makes me worried.

I want to adopt two eventually. Was recommended to get them from separate litters and not at the same time. Is it better to get a boy or girl first? I have a cat, does it matter with male vs female Corgi?

Hello! We're getting a Pembroke Red headed tri and one of the puppies already has a very light face with no white markings at 7 weeks. What will his head coloring end up like? I'm not picky by any means but all of the red headed corgis I've seen have at least some white on the face. If anyone has pictures of their similar Corgi feel free to post! Thanks!

We have first pick of 5 male Pembroke Tri-colored Corgis. Our breeder lives about 8 hours away from us and with our schedules it will be hard for us to visit before actual pick-up day. We can pick our puppy via pictures, videos and Skype but are concerned that we wont be able to tell the colors/personality of the puppy that we want. Anyone have experience doing the picking process this way or have some tips on how to go about picking the right pup under these circumstances? She says they are all red headed tris but she mentioned that 2 weeks after they were born so I'm confused how she would know that early. Both parents look like they were BH tri-colored RHT. How old should they be before picking them so to see the color and personalities better?

Hi there! I have been reading threads on this site regarding the Furminator. I am going to get one, but there are so many choices: Small, medium, etc....for long hair or short hair, etc? My Fiona is a 5-month old cardigan puppy....and we are fairly sure that she is a fluffy because of all of the feathering on her head and, well, everywhere else. Would a medium long hair model be recommended, or short hair? any thoughts out there? This new corgi owner appreciates your feedback!

I've been hearing mixed thoughts on when to begin adult food. My two girls have recently been spayed and I want to make sure they don't get overweight. I've started cutting out lunch but they just seem so hungry (I do realize that's a Corgi trait!) I also want to make sure they are properly nourished. I've been told to continue puppy food until they were 1-1/2 years old but I also know that puppy food is usually higher in calories. I'm feeding 1/2 cup of kibble in the morning and 1/2 cup kibble…

I'm feeding 1/2 cup of kibble in the morning and 1/2 cup kibble plus 2oz protein (chicken, beef, tuna, salmon, etc), with some peas or green beans for dinner. If they are very active in the mornings when I'm home on the weekends, I will give then a tiny bit of kibble with an egg for lunch. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I'm just curious to see what other owners are experiencing with their puppies in terms of hyperactivity and maturation. I remember Gutie pretty much being a nightmare until he was about a year old (he's now a year and a half). I remember Gutie pretty much being a nightmare until he was about a year old (he's now a year and a half). I probably cried twice a week about it thinking "I can't handle this, what have I done, I'm not ready". He needed CONSTANT attention and exercise, otherwise he'd just walk around the house whining until I either played with him or put him in his kennel for quiet time. I woke up everyday at 5:30am to let him out, then walk him, feed him, exercise him (on and off leash), train him, help him soothe his teething phase, etc. He only napped twice a day for maybe 30 minutes and I scrambled to get stuff done around the house when he was snoozing. And when my hunny came home, he would just go crazy all over again even after hours of rigorous stimulation. When he was neutered at 6 months, he reversed in potty training so we basically had to start all over and that was a big disappointment but we got through it. And then he stopped listening to me! And he started developing irrational fears of people and things. At six months old, he used to run the other way when people/dogs approached and now he usually (75% of the time) happily walks up and gives a sniff and lick to people and dogs he doesn't know (he still barks, but just to alert me of an incoming person, then he becomes a big teddy bear). A year later and boy has he mellowed out and all of that terror, training, and socializing he made me go through was SO worth it.

I know this may sound ridiculous, but I barely remember how much hell he put me through when he was 6 months old. He's just so laid back now and such a good boy that my brain just deleted all of the "bad" stuff. He's by no means a fat or lazy dog, he's still VERY active and fit and always will be, but he's matured and knows my boundaries and doesn't need supervision like he did. I can leave him at home alone for long periods now and not worry about what he'd destroy, what he'd pee/poop on, what he'd get into.

Margo, his new sister, is 6 months and now all those bad memories are starting to resurface. I've shed a few tears this last week just like I had with Gutie when he was young thinking "Oh my God, why did I think a second dog was ever a good idea?!". But then my hunny reassures me in saying "Gutie was even worse at her age, Margo is a wonderful dog she's just a baby and needs leadership like Gutie did; she's only been here a week, give her time to develop a bond in your training with her; in a year you'll be looking back at this and laughing". DUH, RIGHT?! I'm such a worrier. And her and Gutie get along as if they were born together! A week of knowing each other and they are already inseparable. I need to take it one day at a time, relax and not lose patience/hope, and HAVE FUN!

Hey, all! Margo the 6 month-old Cardi is adjusting well! She is attached at the hip to my Pem, who loves the company. When I picked her up from the breeder, she explained that she was standing both ears up for awhile but one drooped again. I haven't seen it stand once in the last four days. It's very obvious she's still teething, especially her back molars because that's mainly where she does the chewing; does that have anything to do with her ear droop? I've heard that constant…

It's very obvious she's still teething, especially her back molars because that's mainly where she does the chewing; does that have anything to do with her ear droop? I've heard that constant chewing can weaken the ear muscles and that erupting teeth need a lot of calcium. Is that true? My Pem's ears were both up without any drooping at all by 4 months. I've also heard that Cardi's ears just take longer because the ear leather is thicker/larger? Would giving her calcium supplements help? Any suggestions on that? I used to feed my Pem plain greek yogurt and I think that may have helped his one ear to pop up. I can feel that her "up" ear has firm cartilage, the other is still pretty felt-y. I'd rather not result to taping...

The first photo is Margo around 4/5 months taken by the breeder shortly before I picked her up. The second photo was just snapped now and she is exactly 6 months now to the day.
