Hi Corgi Lovers -

My husband and I are looking to adopt or buy an adult corgi (male or female). I have had a very difficult time searching. We would be overjoyed to bring a healthy happy corgi into our family. If anyone has any suggestions or knows of any available dogs, I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know. We're in Washington, DC but would travel quite a bit to bring one home. Thank you!

Warmest regards,

My wife and I got our sweet boy Ein about a month ago. He's just over two years old, and is a sweet, affectionate, and playful pup - we adore him! He came from a breeder - she had been testing him for both show and breeding, but apparently neither was working out well and she decided he'd be better in a home of his own. We drove out to her place and met her and her other pups, which all seemed to be happy and healthy. She lives more in the "country" (if there is such a thing in California!),…

He came from a breeder - she had been testing him for both show and breeding, but apparently neither was working out well and she decided he'd be better in a home of his own. We drove out to her place and met her and her other pups, which all seemed to be happy and healthy. She lives more in the "country" (if there is such a thing in California!), and she has a good amount of land for the pups to run in.

When we first met Ein, he instantly ran up to us, was energetic and playful, and seemed completely content. We brought him home that day to our place in the city - a much different environment than he was used to. The first day or two he didn't seem to mind the new elements much, but ever since then he's gotten much more timid and scared of all sorts of things. When we're in our apartment, he's very happy and playful, but once we go outside, he's very easily spooked by just about anything - buses, cars, people, even a foot scraping the ground next to him.

We fully expected an adjustment period for our new boy - after all, he's just over 2, and adult dogs need more time to adjust to such major changes. We just resolved to giving him lots of love and attention. And in truth, the third week we had him, we saw a definite improvement in his demeanor - but his timidness of anything outside the walls of our apartment is still very much there.

Does anyone have any advice on this? Is this a waiting game, or is there something else we should be doing? I'd hate for him to feel so scared of his environment all of the time, and would also hate for a dog that once seemed quite fearless to be scared of so much!
Hi, I have been looking around petfinder and google for Corgi's to rescue from a shelter or buy from a breeder.

Even though I want a tri-color, I am willing to open my home to a young to adult dog especially when there are the benefits of little to no housebreaking and a dog that is possibly more comfortable around people.

However, the dogs that I see in the DC area for adoption are in the 6+ year old range, some as high as 8 to 10.

OK so my Puppy is turning a year tomorrow (Sept 25) Both his parents looked like they we're in the upper 20s to maybe 30 lbs. He came from a litter of I believe 8. The biggest in his litter. Hes ranges from 18-20 lbs its been between there since he was 7 months old. He eats about 1 1/2 a day. I don't mind him being small. I'm just curious why he came from big parents and hes so small. Did anyone have a corgi that started off small and grew up after the 1yr stage.

I have 2 grown breeding pair of corgis that I am needing to place in new homes. Both are 6 years old. I have only raised 3 litters from the pair. Male is a true tri color and smaller than normal corgis. The female is tri but she has the white base with brown saddle pad and black markings. I am not going to raise any more puppies. I would seperate if necessary. Email for pictures or more details. Would be willing to trade them both for a Kathys…

Otherwise $400.00 for pair or best offer. Want to see them go to good home. Female doesn't like smaller dogs but gets along with lab and around horses.
Anne Switching to Adult Foodtag:mycorgi.com,2009-07-16:1150197:Topic:4736772009-07-16T22:03:12.064ZSky and Lylahttp://mycorgi.com/profile/SkyandPuppy
I was wanting to hear when some of you switched your Corgis over to adult food.

Lyla is 5 1/2 months old and was just spayed today. I have heard conflicting things on when to switch to adult food. I have heard to wait until they are a year old, but I have also heard that as soon as a dog has been spayed/nuetered you can go ahead and switch them to adult food regardless of age, so they don't gain too much weight after the surgery.
Lyla is nearing the end of her bag of puppy food, so it would be a great time to start switching her over to Sky's food if I follow the "after spay" method. Any thoughts or words of wisdom?? Hunter and Layla are 7 months old now. We've been feeding them California Natural Puppy food, which is going well, but we're getting low and wondered if we should transition them to adult food now or wait? I'd like to stay with the California Natural brand, since this seems to work well with their systems (and Layla had some problems with other brands like Evo and Taste of the Wild).
