So we're kind of at our wits' end here. Rocky just turned 4 back in October and he had always been a fairly well behaved dog in terms of knowing what is his toys (so he's allowed to chew it up) and things that don't belong to him. We used to keep him in an enclosure when we're at work during the day but back in April of this year (so he was 3 and a half by then), we decided that maybe he's ready to have free reign of the main floor of the house while we're out. We used to keep him in an enclosure when we're at work during the day but back in April of this year (so he was 3 and a half by then), we decided that maybe he's ready to have free reign of the main floor of the house while we're out. I would say for the first 6 weeks or so, he was completely fine. We'd come home, he'd greet us at the door, nothing in the house would be amiss. We then had one incident where we came home and he had chewed up a pair of my heels but after that, he was good again. However, for the past six to eight weeks, he's been chewing up EVERYTHING. He's chewed up everything from an anti-fatigue mat from Costco (brand new) to the cord for the charger for my work laptop to slippers to a picture frame. His latest victim was our TV remote control.

I know there is a bitter apple spray available but as he's chewing up a wide range of things, I don't want to have to spray the entire house. As well, I'm concerned there may be an underlying medical issue. Does anyone have any ideas?
Fortie the teenager -- share your storiestag:mycorgi.com,2014-09-15:1150197:Topic:18847592014-09-15T12:35:26.624ZBea Shttp://mycorgi.com/profile/RebeccaStewart

Hi all

Fortie's now in what I guess are his teenage years. I've been reading about other's experiences with teenage Corgis and it's most heartening! I'll be able to hang in there! I guess we just have to be firm and have a laugh ready to be able to handle it.

So far, it's nothing too bad. He's stubborn as a mule which is normal and he's doing that thing that some have experienced with not wanting to have his leash on (we either have a tasty treat which he gets after we…

So far, it's nothing too bad. He's stubborn as a mule which is normal and he's doing that thing that some have experienced with not wanting to have his leash on (we either have a tasty treat which he gets after we put it on, or we put the leash away and pretend we're not going for a walk any more and he behaves LOL). One thing that's weird is that he's suddenly taken to crawling under the bathroom cabinet and going to sleep for hours a day! We sometime let him and other times we close the door and don't let him in. This morning I coaxed him out with a chew bone, but after five minutes he took it under the cabinet to chew on!! I though maybe he was bored, but even after we take him on a big walk or play a game he gleefully trots back to the bathroom to crawl under the cabinet LOL

I'd love to hear other poeple's crazy Corgi teenage stories!

9weeks old Corgi Puppy Growl&Bark Aggression ?tag:mycorgi.com,2011-08-06:1150197:Topic:12105582011-08-06T04:38:19.667ZAda Chiuhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/AdaChiu
Hello everyone,

So I've recently brought home a pembroke welsh corgi whose turning 9weeks old this weekend. Now that he has lived with the family for about a week, he plays more aggressively, and by that, I mean he growls and barks at us when we play with him.

After we drop down his toy and pause playing with him for a few seconds, he'll start to bite onto his toy and growl and bark. Is he playing too aggressive or he just wants us to keep playing with him? Does growling indicate…

My family and I are first time owners of a puppy so we're looking forward to learn from experienced corgi owners. So thank you in advanced for any tips you guys can provide us! :) Bedroom Behaviortag:mycorgi.com,2010-02-07:1150197:Topic:6096482010-02-07T07:26:19.477ZJamiehttp://mycorgi.com/profile/Jamie42
So, this is a bit of a strange topic, but I'm curious to see if others have had the same issue. Whenever my boyfriend and I kiss, Hannah tends to jump right in the middle of us and will usually end up licking him in the face. Just seemed playful and silly. Not too much of an issue for us. However, (and this is a little embarrassing) she also exhibits this behavior if we are trying to be intimate. She will climb on the bed and plop herself in the middle, as usual. However, (and this is a little embarrassing) she also exhibits this behavior if we are trying to be intimate. She will climb on the bed and plop herself in the middle, as usual. If we prevent her from accessing the bed, she'll sit on the floor and either bark or make long, low growling noises while staring intently. That being said, I'm wondering what her intention is. Is she wanting to play, is she jealous, or is she trying to protect me? I also have no idea how to go about stopping this behavior aside from confining her to another room. This would be fine with me, as continually pushing away a spry, little Corgi can become a real mood-killer, but I also don't want to stress her out either. Pooka is the trimmest corgi I've ever seen, and a lot of people have told me the same thing. She is obsessed with playing fetch and running around, and is only now, beginning to finish her meals (still off and on). We also have a huge backyard, which she goes out in often.

Therefore, I only take her on a walk for fun, not for exercise. Also for training, to behave and TRY to meet people, and not run out in the street. And if she was crated throughout the day, more than normal, I like to take…

Therefore, I only take her on a walk for fun, not for exercise. Also for training, to behave and TRY to meet people, and not run out in the street. And if she was crated throughout the day, more than normal, I like to take her out to apologize. Really, only ends up 1-2 times a week.

We now have a husky living with us, and her owner takes her out twice a day.

Recently, Pooka has gotten very anxious when they leave, crying and whining and pouting and staring out the window, and just making me very sad. I don't know if this is because she really likes walks, or if she just has separation anxiety, not wanting them to leave.

Another thing is that she's learning how to "talk" more as she gets older, so it might also be that.

Do I need to be taking her on more walks? How should I deal with this? Currently I just try to distract her with a happy voice, and asking her to do tricks, and telling her No when she whines.
Silly puppy... Flea Medication - Bio Spottag:mycorgi.com,2008-07-15:1150197:Topic:1465932008-07-15T16:18:19.800ZMayhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/May
I applied Bio Spot on Dexter last night and a minute after applying it when we were on our way out the door for a walk he started running around the house rubbing his head and sides on the floor and carpets as if he knew it was there and was trying to rub it off (he acted this way a little when I tried the Gentle Leader on him).
During the walk he continued to rub on the carpet, sidewalk, and grass (had a little diarrea from the stress)...
During the walk he continued to rub on the carpet, sidewalk, and grass (had a little diarrea from the stress)...
I am a little worried about him... he still ate and drank so it didn't affect his appetite. But he seemed to mope a little all evening. In order to keep him from running around the house I kept him in his pen and he just layed there, moping. His late evening walk was not any better (though he didn't have diarrea anylonger)

This morning he seems to be better... still rubbing a little but happy to go out for his morning walk.

Should I bath him to take the Bio Spot off?... Has anyone else had this reaction from their dogs? I think I need to place him on some sort of flea treatment because he has been scratching a lot.
