We have first pick of 5 male Pembroke Tri-colored Corgis. Our breeder lives about 8 hours away from us and with our schedules it will be hard for us to visit before actual pick-up day. We can pick our puppy via pictures, videos and Skype but are concerned that we wont be able to tell the colors/personality of the puppy that we want. Anyone have experience doing the picking process this way or have some tips on how to go about picking the right pup under these circumstances? She says they are all red headed tris but she mentioned that 2 weeks after they were born so I'm confused how she would know that early. Both parents look like they were BH tri-colored RHT. How old should they be before picking them so to see the color and personalities better?

We took Max and Katie with us to meet Brady. It couldn't have gone better if we had planned it. There was also a 7 month corgi in the mix, this was the dog Karen was showing Saturday. Not one tiny bit of aggression or bad vibes from any of the 4 dogs. It was so funny with 4 dogs on leashes getting all tangled up!

He is a total sweetheart tho I know we are in the honeymoon phase but I am making sure he is last in everything....food, treats, out/in the door...so he learns his place in the pack. Very much a Velcro dog and I feel like the Piped Piper when I walk thru the house, a dog on either side with Brady bringing up the rear.

He had never met a cat before and the first thing he ran into when he came into the house was Oliver our black cat. It went fine, our cats love the dogs. Unfortunately twice Brady and Oliver startled each other going around corners and Oliver did his Halloween Cat impression so now the dog gives the cats a wide berth. I told him that was a good idea, cats will always win.

Took him to PetSmart with me today, wanted a new collar for him and a coat for rain and snow. He was so well behaved! Nice to know I can take him places. She has a cart that was donated to the club that she is bringing with her for when we reach the point of needing one! We will return it to the club when we no longer need it. With the double diagnosis we don't know which will progress the fastest but if it's the DM and he is still a happy boy we will have the cart for him.

Hey everyone! I recently took my corgi Ein to Chicago Corgi Beach Day and put together a little video. Thought I'd share it so you guys can see the great turn out (not nearly as many as the SoCal beach day, but still pretty good!).

Hey guys,

My husband and I are getting our Pem Corgi puppy on April 6 and are wanting to prepare as much as possible.
We also have a natural dog/animal grocer by us that sells raw and dry food from companies that try to have the most natural diet and don't advertize their merchandize at all. They really suggest doing an all raw diet for any dog but was curious how you all feed your Corgis. I know Corgis need to be watched weight-wise and I've always had this weird feeling about packaged dog food. I want our pup to be healthy and just like I don't want to eat a lot of crap food, I want to make sure he is fed as well as possible.

We're so excited for our little friend we want to prepare as much as we can for his arrival!

Thanks in advance as well!
Bringing a puppy home in a house with two cats.tag:mycorgi.com,2015-03-10:1150197:Topic:19080852015-03-10T12:02:22.758ZBrenda & Pemmyhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/BrendaKestemont

Hello,

I have two cats, both still very young. One of the two stays inside because she's just a kitten of 7 months. I want to let her out in the spring, so that'll be soon I guess, since the weather is changing in Belgium. So I have two questions

1. How do I introduce the pups to the cats? Both are very social to us, but easily frightened by sounds and brusk movement and not familiar with dogs.

2. When do I let my kitten out? I don't want to do it now, because in just two weeks we'll bring the pup home. I'm worrying she'll see 'the outside world' as a place where she escapes the puppy and won't come in as much. I want her to stay a kitten who's glad to be with us when we watch tv, ... So am I right to keep her inside for her to get used to the puppy? So she won't feel replaced? How long will that take?

Hi there,

I have a 10 month old female Corgi named Lucille who weighs 12lbs. I got her from a BYB at 5.5 weeks old because her mother weened the pups early. (She had 9 pups and it was her first litter.) Lucille was the runt of the litter. Her Mom was fairly small as well (about 20-25lbs I'm guessing) I've heard people talk about 'Mini Corgi's'...are they real or is it something made up? If real, would Lucille classify as a 'Mini Corgi'?

Lucille has plenty of energy; I feed her approximately 1.5 cups per day. She is happy, healthy, and has her papers. I just want to know if anyone has any advice or concerns. Lucille is my Service Dog and does a wonderful job but I want to ensure she has the best and stays healthy. Does anyone have any tips or similar experiences?

Thank you,
