Hi all! Just got our new corgi pup yesterday. Hubby and I were ready for another dog after having to help Sophie cross the Bridge in December. (Still miss her, and our first corgi, Asta, terribly). She is a very nosy, active little fuzzball, and went 5 hours in her crate last night before waking us up. When we took her out, she truly did have to go, so that was a nice amount of time. We have tentatively named her Poppy, but may call her Scout (after Jean Louise Finch) since she is a little…

She is Max and Katie's breeder also. When I talked to her the other night she was asking how Max was doing. I let her know the tumors have shrunk but the DM is progressing. She has a cart that was donated to the club that she is bringing with her for when we reach the point of needing one! We will return it to the club when we no longer need it. With the double diagnosis we don't know which will progress the fastest but if it's the DM and he is still a happy boy we will have the cart for him.

So cross your fingers that all goes well today!
New Member: Hi Everyone!tag:mycorgi.com,2014-12-12:1150197:Topic:18965762014-12-12T23:19:37.442ZRachel & Scouthttp://mycorgi.com/profile/RachelE

I'm not sure if this is bad luck or a bad decision on my part. I have been on a waiting list for my very own corgi since April and it is still not looking very good. There have been numerous missed/failed pregnancies or very small litters (1-3 pups, not all of them make it).

As a first time dog owner, I'm not really quite sure how this process goes. It seemed to be the best option on the west coast that I could locate. The breeder is responsive, does testing, shows her dogs, the place is clean ect. I think she is a very nice lady and I want to believe every good thing, but I'm worried I may just be naive? I keep getting my hopes up, only to be disappointed.

Is this wait normal? How long is too long? Multiple times i have considered throwing a fit or ditching my deposit, but I know it wouldn't do much good.

Help!! :( How long was your search for your corgi?
Help! Our corgi is being terrible to our relatives' dog!tag:mycorgi.com,2013-12-26:1150197:Topic:18304152013-12-26T01:38:53.236ZSarah, David & Pup Henryhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/SarahMcDonough

Help -- we're so embarrassed! We've taken our corgi Henry, now 18mos old, on vacation to our relatives. They have a middle-aged female boxer named Hannah, an extremely sweet, extremely submissive dog, but Henry is behaving like a huge jerk to her! He freaks out and runs after her barking and snarling when she goes outside. He'll suddenly bark and lunge at her when both of them appear to be doing nothing at all. And heaven forbid someone puts down a bone or a treat, he'll be all over her snarling and squealing like he wants to kill her. But, all this is strangely intermittent. Most of the time, he and she get along great! They sniff each other, they share food, they nap and get petted and nose around without any concern for the other one. It's only sometimes, usually when Hannah gets excited to go outside or affectionate when someone new arrives. But it's also unpredictable -- sometimes it just comes out of the blue!

At first we figured Henry was just herding her and getting upset when she "tried to leave the pack" (went outside). But after he started bossing her around and attacking her over treats and toys, we got seriously concerned. Ours is a one-dog house; Henry is used to being to only dog around. And at dog parks he plays really well with all the other dogs, whatever size or breed. He doesn't appear to ever take a dominant position? What could be messing him up now, and what can we do about it? We intervene, we separate them, we remove the stimuli, but we need to train him to relax co-habitating with another dog. We just don't know how! Please help!
Breeder Recommendation for MD areatag:mycorgi.com,2013-06-16:1150197:Topic:17633922013-06-16T02:54:26.103ZGracehttp://mycorgi.com/profile/Grace

I am interested in getting a Pembroke corgi for myself, I live with my parents (I am a college student), and live in MD. I was hoping that someone on here had personal experience with any breeders in the area (surrounding states as well) that they might recommend for me? I've seen these two sites: http://www.pembrokecorgi.org/memberlistaction.cfm and http://www.pwccp.org/Breeders/Breeders.htm but I'm not sure which breeder(s) to contact! I don't want to contact all of them, that would be confusing trying to keep track.

I would like to get a red and white male (but personality > gender, so female would be fine too), and have been drooling over pictures on here and elsewhere.
I would hope to possibly dabble in agility and/or flyball with corgi. As well as possibly have the dog come along with me when I ride out on trail rides (horseback riding). I also work at a Daycamp/Boarding/Training facility and would be brining pup along with me to work.

After seeing some puppies that have come in to our daycamp who have had little to no socialization and/or handling I want to make sure the puppy I get is well socialized and handled by the time I pick him/her up.

Anyhow, parents are on board but I would be main caregiver. I currently have an 8 year old mini aussie x that was my first dog and we adopted him from a rescue when he was 10 months old. Now I want to go the puppy route! Also have 5 cats that were adopted/rescued/bottlefed ranging in age from 10 years - 9 months.

Please ask any questions needed! I tried to supply as much info as possible.

Also any suggestions and tips would be very welcome!!
Adding a new corgi!tag:mycorgi.com,2013-05-18:1150197:Topic:17529912013-05-18T14:38:25.374ZNicole, Stanley and STELLA!http://mycorgi.com/profile/NicoleHouser

It has been a long time since I have been on this site! I think the last time I visited, my Corgi, Stella, turned 2 and she is now 4!
It has been a long time since I have been on this site! I think the last time I visited, my Corgi, Stella, turned 2 and she is now 4! Anyway, it is likely that I will be adding another Corgi to the home soon. Aside from Stella, I have another dog, Annie, an elderly husky mix (almost 16). The new Corgi is a neutered 1 year old male whose owner cannot keep him because she has another dog (a husky, actually), a small child, and is too busy to continue to care for him. Annie is calm, partially deaf and blind and pretty much sits and sleeps all day. She's in the last months of her life, which is why I wanted to take the opportunity to adopt this Corgi. Stella just turned 4 and is close to Annie, as she has lived with her since she was a puppy. Stella is pretty bossy and dominant, but obedient (and like any Corgi, she will do anything for a treat!). Annie corrected her when she was a puppy and has pretty much ignored any dominant behavior she displayed as an adult--and Annie is clearly the top dog even though Stella might grumble sometimes. Also, Stella guides Annie and helps her outside because she's almost completely blind now. Stella%20and%20Annie.JPG I've attached a photo of them together.

I teach and I just started my summer vacation, so I will be home at all times (another reason I chose to take this opportunity now). Any advice about integrating the new 1 year old boy into the household will be greatly appreciated!

We have thought long and hard about rehoming our little corgi. Unfortunately, with working parents and new children/babies at home, she is not getting the attention that she deserves. My heart is broken, but i know when it's time to throw in the towel. Looking for a good home. She is a GREAT dog, very affectionate, and I love her. She just turned 2 in February and we have all her paperwork.
