Hi all,

My corgi, Cody, started nipping at his hindquarter a couple days ago. He has had hot spots before, but I didn't see any red skin, so I know it isn't that. I did feel a lot of small lumps under his skin next to his spine. I'm really worried. He seems to be walking different too, like swaying more in his hind legs. The lumps seem to be painful to him, or itchy, I'm not sure which. Cody is 10 yrs old and is a purebred. He has been healthy all his life with only a sensitive tummy…

He has been healthy all his life with only a sensitive tummy to worry about (and the one time hot spot). He has for years done this weird thing where he acts startled or like someone pinched him from behind and it's as if he is trying to get away from it. It only last for a few seconds and then he's seemed fine. Has anyone experienced any of these issues? The lumps on under his skin next to his spine are my biggest concern. I plan to take him to the vet within the next week. Update: Cody does have a hot spot on his left hind quarter. It wasn't there this morning but now it's red and raw. Still not sure what the lumps are. I had some spray left over from his last bout with hot spots and he seems a little more comfortable now that I sprayed it.
Hunger Striketag:mycorgi.com,2014-05-30:1150197:Topic:18661452014-05-30T01:50:24.791ZCaitlin Randolphhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/CaitlinRandolph

Arrow is just about 8 months old and this week has decided he isn't eating kibble anymore. He got some but not many human scraps before but since his hunger strike hasnt gotten any. I had just switched his food to a different protein, he had been on the bison puppy taste of the wild, I switched to the salmon puppy taste of the wild, did it slowly. Thought maybe that was it, tried the old kibble again which he has never had issues with in hailing, still picky. Tried a whole other kind of kibble from a sample, a little more interested but just picked at it. I'm down with a dog that free feeds, but he's not eating enough. Tried adding some pumpkin to food incase he was having some issues digesting something, no change. He eats some and poops every day, just less than I want him to, only eating 1/2 to a full cup a day right now. When I made him a meal of boiled chicken etc he ate it no problem. So I am assuming he has just decided he doesnt eat kibble now?

Any advice?

I cant afford to feed him a raw/human food diet.

I dont mind doing it for a few days but I don't want him to win this battle and never eat his kibble again.

Today I put down the day's full portion of kibble in the morning, and havent touched his food situation yet, he only nibbled. Thinking I maybe wont give him any food at all until he eats what I put down today?

How many days do I let the hunger strike go on? He has good energy, healthy poops, but just isnt eating as much.

He's already pretty lean, I was planning on neutering him next week but not if he isnt eating. Secondly, are there downsides for waiting to neuter him till he is almost 9 months? With my schedule I either have to do it the first week or last week of june.
Penelope is acting weird.
Penelope is about 3 years old and in good health since I brought her home two years ago.

I started noticing signs all day of her not jumping up that much or needing help. I thought maybe she was just being silly until we went to lay down for a nap. She couldn't jump up on our bed at all which is currently on the floor so it's less than two feet high. Any time she's wanted to jump up on something she could. She couldn't jump up on our bed at all which is currently on the floor so it's less than two feet high. Any time she's wanted to jump up on something she could. She's also been shaking alot today but I didn't really pay attention to it because some times she'll shake for attention and my mom came over so I thought she was worked up.

Well after the nap my husband said he brought her outside to go to the bathroom and she had a really hard time coming up 3 steps to come back inside. We brought her inside and looked her over. She was shaking pretty badly and she wouldn't even stand up and put her paws on us. My husband reached down and barely touched her back legs and she yelped.

Has this happened to anyone? Any information would be greatly appreciated! I have to leave for work tonight and I'm really worried about her. Thank you

I rescued my corgi, Han about eleven months ago from a shelter. They weren't sure his exact age but he was definitely a puppy, probably only a few months. At the time, he was extremely skinny and you could easily poke your finger through his ribs. He's put on weight since then but he's still really boney. My vet doesn't seem to concerned about his weight and he has a clean bill of health. My biggest concern is that he really doesn't seem to care about food at all and every now and then he'll…

My vet doesn't seem to concerned about his weight and he has a clean bill of health. My biggest concern is that he really doesn't seem to care about food at all and every now and then he'll just skip meals in favor of playing or even lounging. He eat Benefuls puppy food, which is basically the only dog food he seems to like (when he likes food).
From what I've been reading, it sound like corgis normally have the opposite problem where they eat too much and are overweight. I'm wondering not so much about the weight of a year old corgi but about the "bulk" of one. Is it normal for them to still be noticeably boney? Or should he have more meat on him? Also has anyone ever dealt with a dog with a complete lack of interest in food (this is pretty new for me since my dogs have always been eating machines)? So Zoe has had a really rough week and a half. One day, she just stopped eating her food... It seemed like she was actually afraid of her bowl and would just run away from it. After an hour or more of trying to get her to eat, she'll eventually finish it a little at a time. That or we need to feed it to her by hand. This has been going on all last week and into this week. We tried a different spot, adding kong peanut butter or olive oil, and trying a different bowl... all to know avail. …
She just runs away from it. We bought a new bowl today and are going to try a bowl that isn't metallic. Weird enough, she'll drink water out of the bowl she won't eat out of it...

Also, she's starting to have stomach problems. She'll poop at such random times and sometimes it's extremely runny and she'll get diarrhea. That's happened maybe twice in a week and a half... It could be worse, but still

Then, last night, I look away from her for ten minutes and all of a sudden, her whole face is swollen, especially her right gum. I took her to vet emergency and fortunately there was nothing wrong with her. It appears she had an allergic reaction to a bug bite (most likely mosquito as there are so many outside our house that I think they mate there). She's still kind of swollen now but doesn't seem to be having any problems. Her face is apparently extremely itchy as she is rubbing her face against the floor most of the night. She is having problems getting comfortable because of it and will most likely lose some sleep. I hope this goes away quickly. She may need another vet visit soon (scheduled for one on Monday for her last shots).

Finally... yes there is more, she won't go into grass willingly anymore. If you pick her up and set her down, she'll bolt to get out of the grass. I pretty much have to drag her into it. She'll sometimes go to the bathroom in there, but mostly just tries to get away from it. I took her for a walk tonight and she would have rather walked in the middle of the road than near the grass... I'm thinking it has to do with the bug bite she probably got out there...

Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions to help her out with any of these, my wife and I are all ears as it's heart-wrenching to watch her whine and try to rub her face.

thanks in advance,
Dan and Jen
baby (1yr), puppy (11mo) aggressive towards baby for no reason help!!tag:mycorgi.com,2010-06-19:1150197:Topic:6865032010-06-19T11:38:23.412ZDaniel Paluchhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/DanielPaluch

Brando, the new puppy came down with a nasty bought of Giardia a couple of days ago. Due to his illness he has lost close to two pounds over the past few days. He is feeling better today, but still not eating or drinking. Last night I was able to get him to eat a little, but only eggs and cheese. He is a picky dog anyway, and if he were healthy right now I wouldn't "spoil" him to entice him to eat, but he's lost quite a but of weight and he really needs to eat. I am looking for ideas of things to feed that will help him put a little of that weight back on. Once he is doing better he'll go back to normal food. Also, any ideas of getting him to drink? Right now the only reason he's not dehydrated is because I am using a syringe to squirt water down his throat every couple of hours. As the title may suggest, my dear 5 month old Corgi Mac isn't eating his food - at least voluntarily... He never eats his kibble which happens to be Chicken Soup for the Soul, Puppy version, which as I researched is pretty high grade food, by his self and only eats around half a dozen nibbles then nothing else.
The only time he eats is if he eats with canned food or if we cook a small egg to mix with his kibble which we simply can't do regularly. Even with the mixture, he only picks out the latter and leaves a majority of the kibble behind. We just bought a 13 pound bag and aren't going to waste close to 100 dollars (we live in Thailand so the importing raises the price significantly) and buy him new food.

A reason for this may be our 3 day vacation to the beach and we had left him at his previous home, the breeder, where his father still resides, but even before this, Mac still didn't eat very much but now it's getting worse...
Is there anyway you could help me at all please? Refusing To Drink Liquid Watertag:mycorgi.com,2009-03-15:1150197:Topic:3506012009-03-15T19:32:56.287ZZwei & Cynthia + Mikehttp://mycorgi.com/profile/Cynthia20
I don't know what's happened, but for some reason Zwei is refusing to drink liquid water (by itself). He'll only take ice-cubes and will only drink water when I add a lot to his food.

This is starting to become a bit distressing!! I'm not sure what to do to make him drink regular water again.
