To go along with the other post concerning the Pembroke possibly becoming endangered in the UK I thought this was important enough for us all to see how important the Pembroke corgi is to the world.

Hi all, another food question! I already have done a lot of research as to what kibbles I am wanting to try with my puppy (BB Freedom, TOTW, and Canidae are top choices) and know that I will need to slowly transition her to the new food. Another thought came up about feeding was whether or not to include any sort of wet food in to her diet. My thinking was not only would it make her food a little more appetizing, but I can offer her a variety of different flavors in the wet food while still saying on the same kibble so that she isn't getting tired of eating the same thing every meal. I was thinking of only including the wet food in her breakfast, and then just kibble for the rest of the meals

Pros: variety, increased appeal to my dog, better quality ingredients in wet food, longer shelf life

Cons: cost, slightly less convenient, have to refrigerate after opening
A book to recommend (told by a dog about his owner)tag:mycorgi.com,2013-04-14:1150197:Topic:17360652013-04-14T11:16:41.444ZBogart the Cardiganhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/CharlotteDeMarco

I am just now transitioning Sam from Purina Fit & Trim to Taste of the Wild because I read a bunch of stuff about natural dog food (on this site) and TOTW ended up being the cheapest of all the foods I read about. I bought the Salmon one because I wanted to buy a small bag just in case it didn't agree with her and the only other flavor was the Bison and Venison (and I just don't like the thought of feeding her bison! My question is, if I get her transitioned to TOTW and she likes it, it agrees w/ her, etc. will it matter if I change the flavor of the food later? For example, if I buy salmon now, then fowl at another time, etc. Will the type of meat in it affect her differently? Would I need to transition her again to the different flavor of the food? sudden trouble going up the stairstag:mycorgi.com,2010-10-17:1150197:Topic:7769172010-10-17T19:16:27.522ZDana Chttp://mycorgi.com/profile/DanaC

Hi all;

I am hoping for some advice. Milly is a corgi/jack russell and she is three. On Friday afternoon we had a great frap session outside and as she was rushing in to bark at the window she slipped on the four stairs to the next floor. She seemed fine. That day my husband and I went away for the night and Milly was home with grandpa and my daughter. Apparently she started having issues going up the stairs Saturday morning. She stands at the bottom and reminds me of her puppy days when she did not know how to go up the stairs. When we came home I examined her legs and paws and nothing seems amiss and there doesn't seem to be any pain. Last night, I turned off all the lights and went to bed, she usually follows but was having trouble with those fours stairs. I went downstairs and brought her to the next landing that has eight stairs and she was just whining so all last night we carried her up, down seems to be less of a problem except for once or twice. This is my dilemma, I went out for a bit today and my daughter was having a snack and Milly apparently followed her upstairs with no problem. We were play fighting upstairs later and Milly usually rushes in for a romp but could not get up the stairs. Later we offered her a cookie and she slowly managed to go up. Now she is by my chair whining again because she wants to go up the four stairs but can't. Is it possible that she is punishing us for going away? I also tried to ignore the behaviour but she looks so confused as to why she can't do this anymore. How come she can go up sometimes and not others? Is she faking? I don't think so but I don't know. Or is there some other issue or injury that I am missing? I am really worried about her. What if she gets stuck on one floor when she is home alone? There doesn't seem to be a problem running because we had a frap session not that long ago. Help, any advice please. I will call the vet if this keeps up for a day or so I think. I think that maybe I should mention that I recently changed her food to Blue Buffalo Wilderness the Salmon formula. I know that the Chicken formula was recalled because of an excess of vitamin D. Could there be a problem with that? Otherwise, everything is the same around here.
Barking when someone knocks on the doortag:mycorgi.com,2010-07-02:1150197:Topic:6961772010-07-02T18:27:48.975ZC. M.
Tuesday may be a medium sized dog but she has a giant bark! Anytime anyone knocks, or she hears someone outside of apartment door, she starts barking her little head off. She will eventually calm down, but only after she rushes up to see the individual showing them she's boss.

This is not good. For many reasons. Mostly because it's teaching her an improper place in the family but also because we live right next to the apartment manager and she's letting us live there…
