Anyone here ever used a thunder shirt on a corgi? My Jet is *so much calmer* than she used to be (she'll be one year old next Friday, I know, still a pup!); but she occasionally still has trouble settling down for an hour with us in the evening in her dog bed, and when she thrashes around too much we put her back in the kitchen, when I'd so much rather keep her with us in the living room. So I've been wondering if a thunder shirt on those nights might help calm her down. Thank you in advance…

Cody stresses terribly when I leave for work. I thought I might give the "anxiety wrap" a try. I was wondering if anyone else has had success with one and what size is good for an adult corgi. Cody is about 30 lbs and his chest is 22 inches around. I don't want to get one that's too big since it works off of accupressure and needs to be snug. Thanks for any advice!

Ok, until Jack was 2 he ignored thunderstorms. But the summer he was 1, we had weird weather and almost no storms. So he went about two years without hearing a storm and the summer he was 2, he barked a little at storms. Then we brought home Maddie and she barked during storms and that just tipped him over the edge (funnily enough, Maddie now ignores storms completely).

Now he alarm-barks whenever it thunders. I know he's not afraid; it's the same bark he uses when he hears a noise outside. He also alert-barks when a freight train blows its horn about a mile away, so he's definitely a bit hyper-sensitive to what constitutes a threat (and from his point of view, he's warned that train not to come into the house and it never has, so his plan is working just fine).

I've been trying to counter-condition him to ignore storms again, but we've had a bad run last summer and now this spring where almost all the storms come either during the afternoon (while I'm at work) or in the middle of the night. I was up with him for a half-hour last night and had to get up for work at 6:30, so that was fun.

Anyway, I know how to work on this but I guess I'm just wondering if a) anyone else's Corgi thinks the thunder is an intruder to be chased off, and b) is there hope? Anyone have success in convincing said Corgi that the mean ol' storm does not need to be warded off?
Fear of Thundertag:mycorgi.com,2008-04-26:1150197:Topic:954142008-04-26T21:44:17.253ZTracie & Emmyhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/TracieEmmy
Does anyone have any advice for helping with a fear of thunder? Emmy is terrified of it. We had our first thunder storm of the season today while we happened to be working a booth at the Pet Expo. I think I got some extra donations for the dog park because I had this terrified, shaking, panting, pathetic looking corgi clinging to me, but in all seriousness I feel so badly for her. I try to ignore the behavior and just act as though nothing is wrong, but it does not help. Any advise would be…
