My vet actually told me to wait to neuter Frodo until he was 6 months old, for this same issue. (I work in cat rescue so I'm used to spaying/neutering much younger.) She said that 6 months was a good time because while he was knocked out getting neutered, they could check for retained baby teeth and pull them then if necessary. I'd never heard that and thought it was a bit odd, but trusted her, and he had no retained baby teeth anyway.<br />

After reading this (and other things online) I see why she suggested it! For those who are neutering/spaying their corgis (hopefully a lot of us who are keeping them as pets only...) it might be a good idea to have the vets carefully check teeth at that age too, if it's at about 6 months, since they are already knocked out! Oh my! My Aussie's top baby canines simply would not budge when he was younger. My vet had said if they weren't out by the time he was a year old he would pull them. One did eventually fall, but the other did not. I finally had my vet do it at about 9 months old instead of waiting 3 more months. I don't think Sky has any permanent damage because of that, although I will have him checked over by our new vet now (our old vet gave us a lot of bad advice, go figure). Thanks for letting everyone…

I've read something about this problem and the braces, but never seen any picture. I just couldn't imagine how it looks like. Thanks a lot for your photos. Hope it will be OK.
