Since Toby was just neutered, he probably has fairly good levels of hormones circulating in his blood.

those will gradually decrease and maybe he will loose interest in humping.

Thanks everyone for all your nice comments. Hot spot seems to be doing ok he doesn't seem to scratch that much and its dry. some hair is growing back i see. Right now we are working on keeping him from leaving his mark around the house, so he is staying in the big kitchen for now unless i'm right on top of watching him in other rooms. He was neutered in the shelter, so i hope it will stop. He's also trying to hump little gracie . He's responding to come and sit, loves to play, not sure if…

He's responding to come and sit, loves to play, not sure if he is7months old or not, seems older but his canine teeth look young. He's starting to sneeze so i hope he doesn't have kennel cough, nose has been warm since we brought him home. Welcome home, Toby!
Welcome home, Toby! You're one lucky boy!

I have occasional hotspot issues and the cortisone spray, plus keeping it dry and stuff like everyone says, works well.

I did have to use Sulfadene (a topical lotion availabe at pet supply places) on Teri when she had one that was stubborn, but it cleared it right up.

Thank you again for giving this fellow a new forever home.

Welcome home, Toby! It so good to see a happy ending to this story!

As for the hot spot, my old pal Watson would get them now and again. There is some over-the-counter spray that you can buy for pets to alleviate some of the discomfort and redness. The spray is really just a mild cortisone spray, the same sort of thing we humans would use for itches and mosquito bites. As Sam noted, keeping the spot clean and dry is the most essential matter.

Well we are home now from our road trip from picking up Gilligan, who is now Toby so my daughter calls him. He is full of himself and very full of energy. Gracie loves him already- great playmate, and nicky has accepted him also. Wrangler he just goes with the flow. He has a big sore on his back, they said it was a hot spot from stress. they have shaved his hair and it seems to be growing back a little bit. I will have to do some researching on this to help it heal a bit better. Anyone ever…

He has a big sore on his back, they said it was a hot spot from stress. they have shaved his hair and it seems to be growing back a little bit. Thanks everyone for all the best wishes.
