Some people like the wire and some like the plastic crates. Snicker's crate started falling apart and I realized it was over 30 years old! I bought her a medium Pet Mate VariKennel http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MLG484/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 it is the same brand as the one we got our Spaniel 9 years ago which is holding up well.

I read that dogs feel comfortable and safe in crates, esp with covers. In Petco, I saw there are snug body covers for dogs, like for working or service dogs. They are to calm dogs who are anxious, etc. I believe that. I watched Dog Whisper TV shows, and love them. One dog had a body cover to use for part times cuz so anxious etc.

I wonder if Corgi dogs bark too loud or what? I have not meet any Corgi dogs except Thor s father dog who is so cute. Really shedding, cuz it was…

wow While growing up, we had 2 Basset Hounds but they lived outside, not inside home. I plan to have Thor sleep in one crate at nights , and sleep or stay in other crate in dining room in corner when necessary. I went to PetCo but there are not many crates to look at. Just metal ones. Small ones. Online Ive seen better ones, but at loss of which is good. So many .

Griffin is almost two and still is crated at night and when we leave the house. Our first dog was a basset hound who got into everything so I just expect Grriffin to do the same (he doesn't) but I'd rather be sure he's safe. Also, if he's out of the crate he barks at every noise.

FYI: my dogs are 9 and 5 and have slept in a crate all their lives. I don't have to worry about them giving me kisses when I want to sleep, and they don't bark at every noise- I guess they feel like since they are locked in, they are off duty.

Hi Tucker looks so comfy in his crate. Since my son and I havent pick up Thor til next month Oct beginning, Im learning about crate training and others. Im trying to find right size of crate for Pembroke Crogi. I plan to have one downstair in dining room in corner, and upstair in one room. Im happy to read the replies to your question. That helps.

Juno is about six months and is still crated at night. I prefer to crate him at night because he's easily startled once deep asleep & he will bark non stop even if it's the slightest thing that woke hiim up from his sleep. During the day he's crate door is opened inside his playpen & he chooses to go into his crate rather than sleep on the floor whether its inside or outside his playpen. It just really depends on how much your dog loves his crate i would say. but 4months is a bit…

I really appreciate everyones' responses :).

To answer some questions:

-He is hardly crated during the day because I am mostly home, but when I do leave its for about 2 or 3 hours. The majority time that he is crated is from 10pm til 6am "Bed time" (sometimes I wake him up at 12am for a potty break)...other times he is passed out so I've been lucky for how long he has been able to hold his bladder, but I try not to push since he is still a puppy..Since I've had him…

-Potty training has been relatively easy though the first week was a nightmare. The 2nd week is when he understood what to do. Now he goes to the door to lets me know he has to go out and I have been more aware of his "potty cues" just by spending a lot of time with him. It has been 3 weeks with no accidents :)

-Ludi I completely agree. I made the mistake of putting him on my bed without thinking he might to afraid to jump off which resulted in him pee'ing LOL (totally my fault).

*I'm think I am just going to crate him for a few more months....thanks everyone*
Rocky is almost 22 months and…tag:mycorgi.com,2012-08-20:1150197:Comment:16060222012-08-20T22:53:36.541ZDora & Rockyhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/DoraCheng

Rocky is almost 22 months and it's not so much that I crate him at night but that he prefers to be crated. LOL! I've tried leaving the door to the crate open at night to give him the freedom to go in and out but he'd whine and whine until I come back down and close the door for him.
