Help! Need some potty training tips
My 4 month old puppy, Kennedy, although she is doing pretty good about letting me know when she has to go out. The times she doesn't she goes in our dining room (which is empty right now) she won't go anywhere else around the house. (which we appreciate) I want to shake her out of that habit, though. Tips?

You would have to catch her in the act to correct her association that the dining place is a place to relieve herself. If the dining room has carpet use hydrogen peroxide to knock out any odors if you notice the dog is going in the same spot.

Hi Gracie, sounds like Kennedy has too much freedom. You need to be able to watch her closely at this age. Unfortunately, I made the same mistakes with Kirby: gave him too much freedom, didn't take him out soon enough after eating, playing, etc., and I still have to watch him closely at 2 and a half years old now, because once they learn they can potty in the house, it is VERY difficult to fully correct this behavior.

We do watch her closely. She's not having many accidents maybe one a day, if that. It mostly happens when I'm cooking. Might have to start putting her in her crate while I do that.

I agree to catching them in the act. Whenever my dogs started to squat I would say "no no" and redirect them outside. It may be a pain in the butt to take them out but honestly take her out every half hour and it will click. If she is doing good at four months she will do great in no time!
