30 year old photo - Rookie, w. baby Lindsay

Rookie loved Lindsay and was always there protecting her. I can't imagine ever worrying about how Rookie would react to the birth of Lindsay, our first baby. I also can't imagine keeping them apart. Prior to our babies, Rookie was always with me. No matter how late I'd be up working, he'd be right there with his regal head on my foot. He was incensed when we came home with a new Corgi, Maggie. Maggie was 14 wks. and Rookie was 6 mo. He tried every which way to keep from entering a room. When she persevered, he pushed her into our pool. Eventually they became inseparable best friends. But, Maggie never was devoted to the babies like Rookie. Maybe Rookie just kept them to himself.

How do I ever get over losing my best friend? I had to make the awful decision to send her over The Bridge on Oct 10 2011. Still to this day I cry over losing her. I do have a new puppy coming Feb…Continue

@ Judy & Alan - I've been on mycorgi for more than a year, yet I don't navigate it very well. So, I just wanted to be sure that you got my response about Kelly and Rookie. Rookie was indeed a Pettiwood Corgi & I've been checking my mail every day to hear from you. I got chills when I saw your post. I mean Rookie's been gone for such a long time; yet I see him right in front of me. Can't wait to see a photo of Kelly and see if our Pettiwood Corgis are related (Cappykorn's Bach? Yul B?). I bet they are!

I am so sorry for your loss.   I know that Yewbee will remain in your heart forever....

I went through terminal liver cancer with my little 10 year old corgi-chow Yewbee in June of this year. The doctors estimated 6 weeks to 3 months from diagnosis, but it was much quicker than that, and on July 1, I had to make the most difficult decision of my life.

I sure miss you, Yewbee - rest at Jesus's feet - I'll see you "in the morning".

Sounds like Lucy had Gentle Dental.

Gentle Dental is th cleaning w/o anesthesia. I really liked having that option over the other. It took 20 minutes at most vs dropping her off at the vet for the whole day.

I never heard of the Gentle Dental route. My husband brushes our corgis teeth weekly (he has a little OCD, haha) but Lucy's teeth got cleaned once w/o anesthesia and she did fine. My vet wanted to put Lucy to sleep & I didn't want that.

Lucy and RR are getting along better. She always gives her toys to him, so that's never been an issue. The only thing they fight over sometimes is attention from a new person that comes here...or FOOD.

They get along really well, but they each have their jealous moments. In fact, Luna is a big toy stealer! They play remarkably well together, which is great to see.
I opted to go the Gentle Dental route for Twinkie and her teeth look wonderful! Her breath doesn't smell like something died and Bethune look normal, so it was the right choice for us.

That's such great news. Luna and Twinkie are lucky Corgis to have you! I never heard of Corgis being shaved until joining mycorgi. I don't get it. How'd Twinkie's teeth look after the cleaning? Good job with the weight. You'll have Twinkie in great condition before you know it. How do the 2 get along?
