30 year old photo - Rookie, w. baby Lindsay

Rookie loved Lindsay and was always there protecting her. I can't imagine ever worrying about how Rookie would react to the birth of Lindsay, our first baby. I also can't imagine keeping them apart. Prior to our babies, Rookie was always with me. No matter how late I'd be up working, he'd be right there with his regal head on my foot. He was incensed when we came home with a new Corgi, Maggie. Maggie was 14 wks. and Rookie was 6 mo. He tried every which way to keep from entering a room. When she persevered, he pushed her into our pool. Eventually they became inseparable best friends. But, Maggie never was devoted to the babies like Rookie. Maybe Rookie just kept them to himself.

How do I ever get over losing my best friend? I had to make the awful decision to send her over The Bridge on Oct 10 2011. Still to this day I cry over losing her. I do have a new puppy coming Feb…Continue

RIP Rookie-face. We think of you every day. Ricky/Rafa is working hard to live up to your corgi high-jinks and love of mischief! But, there will never be another you, Rookie! My eyes are filled with tears as if it were only yesterday that you left us. But, we know, Corgis never leave us.

@Toby & Chevy (Brenda) - btw, that's Rookie in the photo of Corgis remembered. The photo is 30 yrs. old and Rookie was probably about 3yo at the time, and baby Lindsay was about 3 mo. They were inseparable.

Lucy & Ricky-Rafa (owner Wendy) Comment by Lucy & Ricky-Rafa (owner Wendy) just now Delete Comment @Toby & Chevy (Brenda) - I have no doubt that Corgis have the best sense of humor of all dog breeds, and with that in mind, it's clear to me that Rookie sent us Ricky/Rafa-- otherwise known as The Rafanator, possibly the worst behaved puppy on earth. I know somewhere Rookie is looking down at us and LAUGHING

It will be a year for us that Riley passed away-- and it has been real hard the last week for me he was my boy for so many years,he truly was my best friend.. I love you Riley and always will-- we have 2 more boys now that we rescued this last year and I truly believe that Riley sent them to us-- I truly believe that someday we will see our corgi angels again... but I also know they will always be here within each and everyone of us..

@Kobi, Angel Kazy & Kiya - Me too, but not too soon! I'm sure all our angel babies are playing and frapping, but we're still needed here for our babies on the ground. Not a day goes by that I don't think about my sweet & sassy babies...I almost named Ricky/Rafa "Rookie" for my insane-craaazy corgi love of my life. I think I stole the insane/crazy, crazy/insane line from Eminem. Another bad boy that I love.

It has been a year 2 days ago that I lost my sweet corgi . The pain is still so strong.

I really hope that we get to see our babies someday again :(

@Scott, Rhonda, and everyone else that has lost their irreplaceable Corgis. No Corgi replaces another, but I know, for me, nothing helps heal that hole in my heart except getting another Corgi or maybe two. I have been trying to post photos and a tribute to each of my corgis that are hopefully frapping with yours. It takes time and I need to be ready to reopen some doors. But, as Scott says, writing about our best friends is good for the soul. It makes me so happy when I open mycorgi page and one of my corgis pix is up on the screen, unexpectly. It's like they're right here with me again. I also see bits of each of them in Lucy and Ricky-Rafa. Corgis are magical.

I was just in Minneapolis teaching about ranching to 4th 5th and 6th graders. I had sent them my Puppies poem before hand so they could get to know me, plus some pictures of the ranch with the corgi dogs of course. One of the questions I got was "why didn't you bring your Corgis, I want to meet them". Corgis have an effect on people just seeing their pictures!! Once they are in your heart, you will never forget them, you  will never get them out of your heart. I guess that is why it has taken four of them to replace my first one. One of the people that got a female from us from this last litter told me that he wished he had gotten a Corgi years ago, he loves his new girl. Corgis are awesome!! Barney will be with you forever Rhonda as you will be with him. He is playing with all of the other Corgi dogs we have lost, frapping with them all and enjoying every bit of it

@Scott - I read your message to Rhonda and although it was about Barney, your words had to touch the hearts of everyone who ever loved and lost a Corgi. Thank you Scott and Rhonda. Your words struck a chord in me and my family.
