I wish I had land for goats or sheep as well, even ducks. When in a few years I hopefully become a home owner, I'm going to make sure to buy property with a lot of land. I just bought a book on herding, and it looks pretty overwhelming. I can't wait for the challenge. But first Ofelia needs more discipline and obedience before I try cooperating with her in herding.

I would love to get my Nitro into herding. He is a natural, he'll even try to "guard" or herd inanimate objects occasionaly. I wish I had a spot to have a couple of goats! Man that would be something!

Thanks! I hope the trainer will put Ofie on sheep, too. Though it would be fun to watch her with ducks. :-) Eventually - and this is way in the future - I'd like her to be herding cattle.

Good for you and Ofelia. The instinct test is great place to start. Malibu has done 2 pf them. One last Oct and the latest was this past Sunday. It is just amazing to see their light bulbs go off. Both of our were with 3 sheep. Malibu and I are going to start the rest of the process hopefully in a month when the trainer is done with her National Specialty. Have a great time it is amazing.

Ofelia hasn't started hearding yet. I've found a farm where she can take an instinct test and go from there. Once I can afford it, she'll be a herding dog. I can't wait. I'd love to hear from anyone else interested in herding, or anyone already involved in the sport.
