I use an artificial tree and also hang only the replaceable ornaments that I don't care about at the bottom so if they were to be knocked off it wouldn't be so bad.I would also make sure the bottom ones are either not breakable or not toxic to our short legged ones! I wish I could hang popcorn but I'm afraid I'd have a mess since mine love it. So do you string the lemon and lime slices? Sounds interesting!

I am with Nancy - I don't hang anything too sprarkly at the bottom, and definitely, no food!!! Sadie loves to sit and watch the tree in the evening when it's all lit - she finds it magical like the rest of us!!!

We love all holidays! Most especially those that center around food, family, music and corgi-fun! As far as the Christmas tree - I have the bottom-most branches trimmed off, I do not hang ornaments on the bottom third of the three, try not to make "underneath" the tree too inviting (Tasha slept under the tree one year, stood up and toppled the whole shebang) and never use silver icicles. As I like to decorate the tree with slices of lemons, limes, oranges, cranberry strings, popcorn strings and corgi ornaments, we have the tree in an area that can be shut off when the humans aren't around to monitor corgi curiosity. Bear, Tasha and Linus are way too busy trying to figure out which presents are theirs so I don't put their gifts out until we are all gathered around. Now, the roasted turkey is another story.
