My Corgi, Blaze will be 13 on St. Patty's Day!! Can't believe he is that old. He is getting along pretty well for his age and only having one eye. He has a cataract in the other eye and his hearing isn't what it used to be, but overall not too bad. Just wondered how hold your seniors are??

My boy Blaze is 11 1/2 and the past couple of weeks we have seen some signs of him starting to slow down some. He is having a hard time with steps all of a sudden, he hesitates and tries to avoid going up them. We took him to vet, he gave him some anti-inflammatory med for now, hopefully it will get better. If not, he will do some xrays. Blazee is not hearing as well and not seeing great (he also lost an eye a year ago due to a tumor) so his one eye is getting pretty cloudy, no cataract,…

He is slower to get up, etc. It is tough to watch and I know it will be tougher as he gets older. Just wondered if anyone else had a corgi around the same age to talk with? He is still pretty healthy, and for that I am so grateful and I will try to cherish every day I have left with him. Hopefully he will have a couple of years left in good health.
Can our old guys and gals get cranky when they're stiff?tag:mycorgi.com,2010-03-20:1150197:Topic:6343762010-03-20T13:25:00.369ZButterhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/Butter
The relationship between 9 year old Minnie and not quite 4 mos Fergie is an ever evolving one. They play more and more every day but Minnie always seems especially cranky in the morning with the pup. Last evening they played hard and the "not getting along" portion of the morning lasted longer then usual. Does sore have any impact on cranky? Just wondering your thoughts on this. Minnie is in great shape other then age.
Petie is thirteen, and never knows when he's had enough. He plays hard, but pays later. Especially when he's in the water. I have to stop play before he's ready, which makes me sad. But if I don't he gets limpy later. :(

Can anyone recommend a book to purchase for my reading, reference and bookshelf about caring for and living with a dog as they age? Something that has info on feeding, keeping them comfortable in the house, outside when needed, bedding, nutrition, vet care, maybe possible health concerns?
Just want to be prepared and informed,
Bruce has slightly bad numbers for his kidney function. The vet wants him on a special diet. The only choices are Hills, Iams/Eukanuba and Royal Canin. Can anyone recommend one of these three?
Max' owner, I just saw your post about kidneys. What is happening with Max?

I am new here and thought I could get some feed back. Our corgi, "Cobi" has been epileptic for years and we have for the most part been able to control it with meds. Just a couple of emergencies where the seizures wouldn't stop without a visit to the ER. Now the Vet thinks he may have Lupus but won't know for sure without biopsy of nose. We don't really want to put him through that since he is 11 yrs old. So far we are treating it with steroids and was wondering if anyone here has any…

I have searched on the Internet and can't get any good info. I was told by the breeder 14-15 years but am wondering if this has been exaggerated.

If either type of Corgi were to die of a disease, what would it most likely to be?
