This is Buffy the last summer we had her. She died in March of 2006. She could not walk very far and the stroller made it possible for her to enjoy outings anyway. My Father-in Law made a sign because people kept asking why she was in the stroller. It has been a long time now but she is not forgotten. Fortunately I think of only the good times now!

bev, barney got a hold of a bone the first time and part of it splintered off in his intestinal tract and almost lost him then. i let him out sat. he ventured to my neighbors house and they throw scraps out and he must have gotten a hold of a bone and this time my vet said she would have to do surgery and he was already septic which meant he probably had already punctured his abdomen and it was leaking into his system. she said he would always have trouble w/ his bowels. so i decided, well you know...

Rhonda, Thanks! Buffy had had an episode with her liver not functioning properly about 6 months previously but we thought we were out of the woods when she just failed completely. I am so glad you were with your guy when he died. We were out of town and I had told our dog sitter to take her in when she refused dinner ( very unlike her). She died the next day before we were able to get home. Did Barney have a chronic problem or was it something he ate? I have had to make the decision to let go with other pets and I know it is difficult and easy to second guess yourself but don't. There is no easy way to lose them. I have told load some photos from an old camera but I will try. I would love to share some photos of Buffy too. We got Izzy soon after and she has been a blessing. It took Sparty a while to want to play with her but he came around. How are your other dogs doing? I think it took Sparty a year to get over losing Buffy.

bev, so sorry to hear of your loss too. the pain that i went through was gut wrenching tues. when i signed the consent form,it was like i killed him,but i did'nt want him too keep going through thes it was his 2nd. in a yr.1/2.i held him while they put him to sleep and i don't know if this makes any sense but it was one of the most precious, but heartbreaking moments of my life. i am so glad you have joined make sure you post a pic of your beloved, BUFFY!! Hugs to you !! rhonda

Hi Rhonda, It has been 2 1/2 years since my Buffy died. She was 6 years old and had quite a few health problems. I did not realize that it was life threatening but she eventually passed away due to a liver ailment. It was sudden and unexpected so I know what you are feeling right now. Probably cheated! That is how I felt. I never lost a pet so young and admit I naively thought since we took such good care of our pets that all of mine would live a long time. I feel better thinking about the Rainbow Bridge and a place where they are happy and having fun. I am sure corgi heaven includes the ability to eat as much as you want with out gaining weight!

I know that their are people out there that is going through the same pain that i am right now. The only thing that has helped me get through losing Barney is people who have gone through the same thing i have and people w/ great big hearts who love their corgis as much as i do. believe me it helps to talk about it it's the only way to heal and just talk about the good times too.
