Everett and B'Ham have closed dog parks. I don't know how widespread it is. Puppies especially vulnerable. If I had an unvaccinated pup, I'd be avoiding public places, and NO eating poop! It spreads fecal-oral route.

Do you happen to know of any programs that I could use Wrigley to help people. I've heard of Love on a Leash in California, where people take thier pets to assisted living centers and so on. Any info would be great thanks guys!

If you sun-spoilt east-siders can tell a mouldy Seattleite what you do for ticks, I'll tell you how to keep moss from growing between your corgi's toes.
We have used Advantix, apparently effectively, but sometimes I wonder about the permethrins.
We've used Advantage effectively for fleas. Can one alternate Advantage with Advantix? Use Advantage for fleas, and then -- if it's wearing off -- switch to Advantage with the permethrins if a trip to the east side is in the offing?

Reading Joanna Kimball's blog, she doesn't like permethrins (Advantix, Bio-spot etc.) but mentions this Comfortis, a new chemical, Spinosad, pill form, allegedly kills fleas for a month and kills ticks for a week. At first, I thought this might work for me; I could dose whichever dog is going "out east" with Comfortis on an as-needed basis, instead of keeping both dogs loaded up with permethrins all the time. But then I realized that this anti-tick window is too brief to be practical, and I don't want to be mixing chemicals.
Anybody have experience with Comfortis?
Here's a blog with some quite scary anecdotal observations (including fatalities) about Comfortis; anecdotal observations are notoriously unreliable and suspect, but:
http://www.dolittler.com/2008/3/29/cat.dog.flea.vet.pet.veterinary.veterinarian.Ihrke.Comfortis.Lilly.html

http://blacksheepcardigans.com/ruff/?s=permethrin&x=0&y=0

Washington Breeders?tag:mycorgi.com,2009-04-23:1150197:Topic:3964622009-04-23T00:01:55.840ZChae and Ponyohttp://mycorgi.com/profile/MichaelaHoban
Hello,
I've been wanting to get a corgi for years now and recently became serious in my searches. I've been emailing with a couple of breeders in Idaho and Washington, looking for upcoming litters. Does anyone have a breeder they love that they can refer me to? Thanks!
On Google Maps, google "Ancient Lakes". It's NW of George and SW of Quincy. We went there in November. Maybe not a great idea in snake season, whenever that is. Autumn/winter/early spring might be best. Make sure your dog does not bother any wildlife, esp. in nesting season. Start early, make a long day of it, loop from Ancient Lakes over the plateau to the south and come out via Dusty Lake (be prepared for the occasional "corgi toss" in the talus there).
Geologically, a unique and amazing place: flood basalts, channeled scablands. You can see that these lakes are gradually draining; my guess is they were formed when their drainages were dammed by debris from the cataclysmic Missoula Floods down the Columbia channel. Look up "Channeled Scablands" and "Columbia_River_Basalt_Group" on Wikipedia before you go.
Dawgs in Cougar country, look out (I work at U.W.).
Gingko State Park, out of Vantage on the west bank, is great desert dogwalking, esp. around April when the desert starts to bloom:
So how often do you have to deal with fleas seeing as how you live so far north? Lets face it 6 out of the 7 contantents on earth have fleas. What time do they come around for you? Is it an all year thing or just during certain months? Do you think the West coast deals with fleas less then people who live on the Idaho side? How do you personally deal with the fleas?
