Paws in the Park sounds like fun!
  • Cowboy Hope

We are thinking of going on Saturday to paws in the park :)
  • Mister Jack

We'll be at Paws In The Park on Saturday! :D
  • Sarah C.

Shall we all meet somewhere? I'm coming Saturday Only
  • Mister Jack

I'm not sure where. We're coming from Cypress and have never been to this park.
  • Sarah C.

I made it out to Paws in the park today, but it was too cold for me to tolerate it for longer than a few minutes. We went at the start. We may be there tomorrow, though.
  • JanRich

We went to Paws in the Park on Saturday afternoon. We saw some other corgis and of course Penny didn't want to be social. Sorry bout that guys! Here are some pictures my husband took. http://www.brettrichardson.net/PawsinthePark/
  • Alicia

I like the ones of the dogs doing flyball. put a cape on them n its Super man!
  • JanRich

Thanks! We appreciate your nice comments!
  • JanRich

I walked Penny to the Baytown Bark Park site from my parents' house and it's coming along nicely. They have the fencing, pathways, trees, entrance and sign in place. It looks like the water lines have been buried, but the water fountain isn't there yet. They also need to put in a bridge over the drainage ditch so that you can get to the park from the parking lot. Penny is mucho excited.
  • Mister Jack

    Hi all!

Mister Jack's birthday is coming up soon, April. 24th, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a place where I could get a doggy cake for him. I don;t want to just feed him a people cake, it's probably bad for him, so I was thinking of a doggy cake. Any suggestions would be great! :)

I believe there are also recipes online so you can make a cake yourself. I've never made one though. For Penny's birthday we let her pick out some rawhides and toys at Petco.
  • Sarah C.

I tried their baked goods at the dog show... myself. They made a good breakfast.
  • JanRich

We are going to Bill Archer today! We are shooting to get there between 4:30 and 5:00 pm if anyone wants to meet us. We are really trying to socialize Penny and she's been doing good with my parents' dogs, who she used to be terrified of. So we're going to see if she'll run around and maybe swim some laps. And maybe make some friends.
  • JanRich

Check out the Corgi Photographers group and vote for Penny's photo in the Spring Contest!
  • JanRich

I added some pictures of Penny's day at Bill Archer. She did so much better. She let a few dogs sniff her and she went swimming and even played on the agility equipment. She only showed her teeth to one dog. These are vast improvements for Penny! We may make a dog out of her yet! haha
  • Candace

Howdy. Anyone from Lake Jackson? I'm looking to set up a play date for my girly for her birthday sunday. I know it's mothers day, so maybe later in the week?
  • JanRich

The Baytown Bark Park is now open!
  • Candace

I never let Chey in the large dog parks. She's been attacked but a larger dog before. (Not at a dog park) And She gets scared really easy. She plays great wth the small dogs and I've never had anyone complain about Her because she's short
  • JanRich

I take Penny in both areas. She loves the play equipment (especially the tunnel), which is only in the large dog area at our park. She is scared of large, overly playful dogs, so if one shows up, we go to the small dog area.
  • Sarah C.

I've always just taken Didi into the large dog area, even though she's about a half pound under the 20 lb limit. My reasoning is that, unlike other small and toy dogs, she has bones that are just as thick as other dogs, she has a neck and body just as wide as other dogs, and she's not the sort of dog that you need to worry about a roll or collision hurting her. I've probably said it a billion times, but if she can go through jumping out of a moving car without a scratch, she can go through the collisions, bumps, tumbles and squashings of a dog park.
On dog fights and bites; if a dog comes in where there's a problem with them or their mood that day, we leave, whether it's 150lbs or 15lbs. So far she's only been tagged by dogs that would have been in the small dog category anywhere. Her bluff and bluster is enough to send any nasty large dog onto their haunches. Who would think a little bunny-dog could be so ferocious?
  • JanRich

    Introducing our newest addition, Jet!

  • Mister Jack

    Jan,

Jet is just too adorable! :D
  • Arrow and Pengu

Hi everybody!!! My name is Pengu! I will be making Houston my home this Friday. Maybe I meet some corgis-round-town this summer...
  • Mister Jack

Welcome to the group Pengu! :D
  • Alicia

A few days ago we took the dogs to lake houston for a dip in the water. well they had a great time. once we got in the car thats when it hit. they smelled AWFUL. wet dog + swampy + Peach found a dead fish. on the way home my husband asked me if there was any place for them to swim with clean water, I said I didnt know and he told me to in his words "ask that corgi houston thingy you do" lol. So anyone know of the dog park with the nice clean fish free water?
  • JanRich

the bill archer bark park has a great, clean pool and a doggie shower so you could even shampoo them.
  • Caroline

Does anyone want to do a corgi meetup? I take Izzie to the Danny Jackson dog park twice a week.
  • Mark Niles

I'd like to do a meet up soon. Just lost my job so I have plenty of time. Thursday?
  • Sarah C.

Bah! Are there any dogparks with AC? x_x
  • Candace

    Where is Danny Jackson?
  • Caroline

Danny Jackson is located at 610 and westpark tollway, just south of 59. All the dog parks in Houston are mapped out at www.houstondogpark.org, they also list up events and problems/closings of dog parks around the area. Unfortunately it isn't air conditioned, but it is nice and open so in the afternoon/evening there is a breeze!

Thursday works for me, I'm free every day after 3pm.
  • Cowboy Hope

    What time ?
  • Carolyn

I would be open to a corgi get together at the bark park during the weekend, on Saturdays or Sundays. I was there last weekend and it was full of dogs having a blast! I know Odie always loves going there!
  • Ginny

I would like to meet up during the weekend. Which, Bark Park are you referring to? Bill Archer or Millie Bush? I haven't been to either, but they look like fun. We live in Pearland so we usually just go to the small dog parks around there.
  • Carolyn

Danny Jackson, off of 610 and 59.
  • Ginny

Oh ok. Are you going to be there this weekend?
  • Caroline

How about Saturday morning around 10? That way it isn't too hot yet, the little furballs heat up quick!
  • Ginny

Sorry, I won't be able to make it. The Hubby already got a tee time for then. I hope you all have a great time though!
  • JanRich

I would like to go Saturday morning! I have never been to Danny Jackson before and Penny loves the water. I would even go at 9am b/c it's gonna be a hot one!
  • Caroline

Looking at the weather 9am might be a better time. I'l be there around 9 and would love to meet up with other houston corgis!
  • Carolyn

I will be there at 9!
  • JanRich

We are going to DJ! Getting ready to leave now.
  • JanRich

It was very toasty at the dog park today! It was great meeting new corgis. My husband took some really cute pictures. I'll post them soon.
  • Alicia

It was pretty hot. my corgi dorksl loved it. VERY tired dogs when they got home. I think Mario over did it. He came home with a limp :(
  • JanRich

I have posted pictures from today at the bark park!
  • Caroline

Izzie had a blast at the park! Thank you guys for coming, and posting up pictures!
  • Arrow and Pengu

Pengu is bummed about missing a trip to meet other Houston corgis but mom works weekends!!! Those were great pictures of Houston corgis having fun though thanks for sharing!!!!
  • JanRich

No prob, Penny and Jet had lots of fun even if they aren't the aquatic type!
  • JanRich

Happy 4th of July everyone! I'd like to schedule a corgi meet next weekend if anyone is interested. Friday or Saturday. Maybe at a park with agility equipment? And either very early or 7pm-ish. My little Jet is black and gets hot so fast.
