I'll be at the show tomorrow with Guinness. I may miss the Pembrokes showing - maybe I'll get there at the end. The Pembrokes are also doing a meet the breed on Friday at 1pm - I believe. You'd need to confirm on their website. Got to go stock up on supplies!
  • JanRich

We are going on Saturday, so I'm glad we'll be able to "meet" the corgis on that day! Hopefully we'll get there by 9:00am to figure out parking. I am ridiculously excited because I have never been to a dog show before. I wonder if some Houston agility groups will have a booth so we can see about lessons? Jet is fearless on the teeter totter so I just know he's going to be an agility champ! haha
  • JanRich

    Thanks for the coupon!
  • Mister Jack

Oh, thanks for the coupon! :D We'll be there Saturday as well!
  • Sarah C.

We didn't get there today because we were looking at a litter of corgi puppies (SQUEE!). Aiming on tomorrow. No I didn't come home with another puppy. I PURPOSEFULLY didn't bring the crate so I wouldn't impulse buy.
  • JanRich

David and Shari, yes we were watching the pembrokes most of the time they were showing and my husband had a camera glued to his face. I looked back through our pictures and we have one of Bronwyn! It's very cute. We had a great time at the show and look forward to the next one.

The pictures are great Jan! It was awesome to see you guys there! I'll be posting some of the pictures my boyfriend took soon! :)
  • Ginny

Those of you who told us having one corgi just isn't enough were right! We recently added a 1 year old female to the family. She was a former show dog that just didn't like the show world very much. Her previous owner let us take her to try out the family life. We picked her up at the dog show on Saturday, and things have been going great so far.
  • JanRich

That's great! Welcome to the "can't have just one corgi" club! Can't wait to see pictures.
  • JanRich

If you live in Baytown..... The Baytown Kennel Club is holding an informational meeting to see how many people are interested in forming a "Friends of the Baytown Bark Park" committee. The committee would hold events to raise funds for new amenities in the park. The meeting will be August 3rd at the Baytown Fairgrounds @ 7pm.
  • JanRich

I want to take the pups to a park tomorrow morning, since I'm off. Which one should I go to??? It's a tough decision!
  • Boots

2 parks my little guy really enjoys. Congressman Bill Archer off Hwy 6 has such a large area and doggie pond, which is the only pond Boots likes to swim in. The agility course is an added plus; good for all that energy he has.
Danny Jackson Bark Park of the 610 loop @ westpark is always a social gathering for my Bear. There is always plenty of pups for him to meet a play with, especially since he gets along well with other dogs. The small hill along the back fence is relaxing to lay on a breezy evening.
  • JanRich

We went to Danny Jackson early this morning. The dogs had a nice swim and got good and dirty. It is one of my favs since the dogs like water.
  • JanRich

I am going out of town next weekend and had a last minute cancellation from my puppy sitter. Does anyone recommend a sitter or kennel? I don't want my little guy coming home with cooties. I have a place for our older dog, but need a place for the 5 month old. Help!
  • Sarah C.

Ekko's in Sugarland. The owner is a close personal friend of mine, and takes care of my dogs on a regular basis. She knows dogs, has nice small rooms for the dogs and they stay in play pens during the day. She'll also groom them as part of the package and the place has a yard in the back.
  • Ginny

We use pooch pad country kennel in Pearland. It's family owned and they have always taken wonderful care of Elwyn. I would recomend them if you are close to Pearland.
  • Ginny

I just posted a few new photos of Gracie (our new addition) and Elwyn on my profile page if anyone would like to check them out.
  • Mark Niles

Hi All, just wondering if any of you Houston Corgi lovers have any potential job leads (full or part-time) in Houston. If would be extra great if the job was with Corgis. We can dream cant we?
  • Ginny

What is your educational and professional background in? Are you looking for a job in a specific field or just anything you can get?
  • Arrow and Pengu

I checked out your myspace page and saw that you degree was in futures? What type of career does that degree go towards?
  • JanRich

Since we're talking about jobs and all... I have a BBA in Marketing from Texas A&M and I need an entry level marketing job! I currently do retail merchandising.
  • Mark Niles

Nice Responses. I'm a futurist by profession and degree. A futurist is someone who keeps track of emerging social, technological trends etc. We help business, governmental organizations, and individuals plan for the long-term future and by analyzing large global issues (climate change, globalization, demographics, health, etc.) as well as industry specific issues. We help them think about a range of possible futures in order to empower business strategy. As a relatively new futurist (graduated with futures master in 2007) in a relatively new field that is hurting badly from the economy it is virtually impossible to find futures work. Although I have a masters, futures skills are very broad and marketing myself in related industries (planning, research, qualitative analysis) is difficult. So with that said I'm looking for either a full-time job that can make use of my skills or a part-time job that will give me time to keep my feet wet in the futures world and who am I kidding, I'll take anything at this point. Whew, thanks for letting me vent here. Any help would be great and on another note, when is the next corgi meetup? I've yet to make it to one.
  • KyraMoonUnique

would anyone like to meetup at Danny Jackson on saturday?
  • Beth

I'd be up for meeting at Danny Jackson this weekend!
  • Sarah C.

I'm looking to connect with breeders that are planning on having litters ready to go home in the Nov.-Dec. time period. Anyone planning on that, or have any leads for me?
  • KyraMoonUnique

no breeding for us... sad he would have made cute pups. Beth, what time would be good for you? we're open.
  • Beth

Probably better to make it fairly early to beat the heat.. how about at 9:30? I hope more than just us two can make it! I haven't been to a meetup yet, but I know Echo would love playing with other Corgis, so if anyone needs to come at a different time to be able to make it, that's fine with me too!
  • JanRich

I am pretty sure I'm available Saturday morning. My dogs love Danny Jackson. I'm an early bird! How about 9am?
  • Mark Niles

Do corgis usually go in the big or small dog area of the park?
  • Beth

9 works great! I usually go into the small part, unless there happen to be a lot of really tiny dogs. That's not usually the case, though. Echo seems to like the smaller dogs better than the really big ones.
  • Boots

You guys can count me and my Boots there!...9:00 or 9:30@ Danny Jackson sounds aok. This would be our first corgi meet and, yet despite being a regular at this park I have not seen another corgi there before. My Boots would just love being part of a mini pack of corgis...lol...lol.
  • JanRich

Jet will take on any size dog, but Penny prefers small ones, so we mostly stay in the small dog area. I can't wait to meet some new corgi faces! Hopefully my husband will come along and take pictures again. Here are photos of our last corgi pool party at Danny Jackson a couple months ago.... http://www.brettrichardson.net/dogparkjune09/
  • Mark Niles

I think I'll be there with my wife and roxy the corgi.
  • KyraMoonUnique

Yay! Corgi meetup! :) Ein has only ever met 1 other corgi. I will see yall there at 9!
  • Beth

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it! See ya'll there!
  • JanRich

    Ok!
  • JanRich

Go to my page and click on Albums. I made one for the meet this morning! We had lots of fun!
  • Alicia

I always love your pics. they look so good! I love the ones of them shaking off.
  • Mark Niles

I put up a few pics as well.
  • Corky & Archie

Looks like you guys had a great outing! Sorry Corky & Archie missed out, but we have company today.
The water pictures were great! It'd be cute to add the Beach Boys' song, "California Girls" and change the lyrics to "Welsh Corgi Dogs"....
  • JanRich

Nice shots, Mark. Roxy is a doll!
  • KyraMoonUnique

Ein crashed on the couch for 5 hours afterwards. had a great time. :) Can't wait till the next meet
  • Caroline

Aaaaah! Izzie and I missed another meetup! Dang schoolwork. Now that its all over I need to remember to check here more often!
  • KyraMoonUnique

HEY EVERYBODY!!! Read about getting your pets paw prints in the discussion forum
  • KyraMoonUnique

Ello to Belaire corgi owner walking down greenridge! Driving home I saw a woman walking her corgi and I almost hit the brakes to hard because I got so excited to see another corgi (ok maybe i'm a little TO fanatic about corgis) but i mananged to just slow down to franticly wave hi with a REALLY STUPID happy face. She waved back prob. thinking who the hell was that crazy woman. Felt stupid afterwards. :)

    Crazy in luv with corgis
  • JanRich

Haha She probably told her dog to keep walking and don't make eye contact.
  • Alicia

I just got the dogs rabies tags the other day and I was like ok whats it gonna be. a heart shape a circle maybe the silly fire hydrant shape.... Noooooo it was the shape of Texas! Texas is crazy. I was wondering if anyone knows if theres a silence tag for that kinda shape. Marios non stop jiggling when he moves drives me bonkers and hes been running around "nakkie" since saturday.
  • Sarah C.

You might try dipping it in a soft clear acrylic.
  • KyraMoonUnique

There are plastic rings you can get at the pet store to go around the tags
  • KyraMoonUnique

sounds like fun! but i have to work :(
