Oh I forgot about Labor Day..no school and no work that would be cool! i wonder if our fur kids could stand being in a crowded place for a long long time. Our beagle is whiny baby...whimper... whimper ...whine... whine... waaa... waa....
That would be so cool to meet some other houston corgis
  • Lauren Rogulski

    hi fellow corgi's!

when does this group usually meet up?
  • JanRich

I know it's only the beginning of September, but we need to plan to have a Halloween meet up! It's on a Saturday this year! And the weather will probably be perfect. Penny has a costume that we got on clearance last year, and Jet's is in the works. We love Halloween in this family!
  • Ginny

That sounds like a blast! Although, I doubt my dogs would keep a costume on for longer than 3 minutes...
  • Mister Jack

Sounds like a plan Jan! :D

LadyBug, I think we're going to bring Jack to the dog day at the park! Can we buy tickets on line, or do they have to be bought at the door?
  • JanRich

We got Jet a costume today at Target. It's super cute and was only $10!
  • Alicia

whats he gonna be for halloween?
  • JanRich

Is anyone going to submit a picture for the mycorgi.com calendar? We are trying to pick one, but it is a tough decision!
  • JanRich

I saw a corgi on the news who was at the Astros game! I couldn't tell if it was one I knew though! Did any of you walk the bases?
  • JanRich

Oh, my bad. It was a parade.
  • JanRich

    FOX, I think.
  • JanRich

My puppy has been chewing up everything in my house. I've tried using Bitter Apple and Fooey Bitter Spray. He LIKES the taste! You'd think I'm putting BBQ sauce on the furniture the way he chews it up! Has anyone had success with another product? I hesitate to use a hot sauce because I don't want to hurt the little guy.
  • Sarah C.

Hot sauce might hurt, but electrical wires hurt a lot more.
  • JanRich

Um, do you know this from experience...? :)
  • Alicia

Peach use to chew up anything and everything she could get her mouth on. She chewed mostly because she was bored, and Mario wouldnt play with her when she was a puppy. I got both of them their own kong. stuffed it with goodys and covered the end in yogart and froze it. I also got both of them one of these http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2751743&lmdn=Dog they LOVE IT. I go to petco and get the little training treats and they fit perfectly inside.
  • Sarah C.

    @jan
Yes I know from personal experiece. After finding a dead rat near my chewwed pond and busted pond pump powercord, I began removing it from the water. I then found out how the rat died. Yowch. Memo to me, unplug things first. :p
  • Mark Niles

After coming home from work today I discovered that Roxy chewed a hole in the couch. I guess its back to crate training.
  • JanRich

No matter how many rawhides Jet has available, the stool legs in the kitchen still taste better. The last few days we have been leaving Jet in his crate and letting Penny stay in the kitchen while we're out running errands. I hate locking him up, but he's destroying the house! We are getting laminate flooring put down because he and Penny have shredded the carpet.
  • Caroline

Ouch! The only furniture Izzie's chewed on was the stools in the kitchen; I rotate out plenty of bones, ligament chews and bully sticks during the day and she generally leaves furniture alone now.

With my parents doxie we resorted to tabasco sauce. None of the sprays worked and he was destroying ALL the wood in the house! Furniture, tables, window sills, bookcases, nothing was without toothmarks. The tabasco worked very well; adding in new chews at the same time made him stop within days.
  • JanRich

OK, so maybe I'll try the tabasco. And some new rawhides.
  • Sarah C.

Off hand I wonder if you shouldn't use tabasco. Some dogs find it delicious. Maybe a coating of just spicy things (a raw piece of habanero) would deter the wee monster.
  • JanRich

I am guessing this was a team effort....

  • JanRich

The Baytown Kennel Club is hosting an agility trials at the Crosby Fairgrounds this weekend (Oct 9-11) if anyone is interested in going to watch.
  • Alicia

Aww that Sugar land celebration sounds awsome! Im so going. :D
  • Caroline

JanRich, I really shouldn't laugh, but Jet's face in that pic is priceless! Looks like they had a great time while y'all were gone.

I'l try to go to the sugarland celebration! Its a little out of my way but looks like fun. Izzie hasn't had the chance to visit many different dog parks yet, she'l love it.
  • KyraMoonUnique

just love that pic. Not helping my case for getting another corgi though :)
  • JanRich

But when you have two corgis, they learn teamwork skills. Very important life experience!
  • KyraMoonUnique

    Lol
  • Arrow and Pengu

Hi you guys! The Petsmart on Taylor and I-10 (Heights Area) is having a dog costume parade and contest Tuesday the 20th. It's at 7:00 to 7:30. Pengu is going to be a pirate ship (homemade costume) and Galoot is going to be a shark(store bought costume). I'm sure it's going to be funny! If any of ya'll live in the inner loop area it would be cool to meet some other corgis and their humans!
  • KyraMoonUnique

Oooh that sounds like fun! 7pm right
  • Alicia

We didnt stay long. just long enough to get covered in mud. was pretty disappointed too. :(
  • JanRich

Oh no! That stinks. Guess we're not having the Halloween meet there! Corgis are above mud (well, not that far above, but still).
  • Arrow and Pengu

The Petsmart thing actually starts at 6:00 but the costume parade starts at 7:00 goes until 7:15 then the contest is gonna be from 7:15 to 7:30.

  • Sarah C.

I've never been and I'd love to try it!
  • JanRich

  • Sarah C.

About the dog place, do you have to pay to get in?
  • KyraMoonUnique

I love the smirk on car-gis face
  • Caroline

I'm definitely interested in a get-together for halloween. I live close to the Petsmart at I-10 and Taylor so Izzie and I will be there.
The only problem with the Howl-o-ween is that it is so far out! Tempting though despite the distance. Woofstock is definitely doable. Otherwise, anything on the weekends is fair game for Izzie.
  • Arrow and Pengu

Yeah!!! I hope to see you there! I never get to meet other corgis 'cause i work on weekends! I love Halloween!!!
  • Lyn Sheridan

My Dog & Me charges for use of their play area. When the Bluebonnet Cardigan Welsh Corgi club held their Xmas parties their, it was $50 and hour. However, a few years ago, they went up to $100 an hour. They use several of their rooms for Obedience and conformation training. Pet Friendly dog parks or a specific dog park would be a great alternative...
  • JanRich

I would prefer meeting at a free location. I can do either the 30th or 31st. I like Danny Jackson and Bill Archer, but I am certainly open to try a new location. It is a special corgi occasion after all.
  • Cowboy Hope

    I'm with JanRich :)
  • JanRich

Make sure you vote on your favorite pics for the mycorgi.com calendar. Penny is a finalist! Oh, an our Petco is having a costume contest, so we won't be going to the other one that you guys were talking about. We are very excited about meeting on Halloween though!
  • Cowboy Hope

We're headed to the corgi celebration on Saturday
  • Caroline

The petfest looks like a good alternative to the corgi celebration. No time or money for the trip to Buda. Izzie and I will try to make it!
  • Arrow and Pengu

Captain Pengu of the S.S. Barkantine and Galoot the Great White Beagle hope to meet some Houston corgis tonight at Petsmart!!!
  • JanRich

Hope you have fun. Share pictures!
  • JanRich

    Jet getting comfy.

  • Alicia
