    Ok, let's pick a location for the Halloween meet. I think the weather is supposed to be cloudy and no rain, so that should be nice. What park would you guys like to meet at? My vote is for Bill Archer.

    I need some advice. Our new addition, Gracie has only been to a dog park one other time. (She is a year and a half and we have only had her for 3 months) The last time we went to the dog park she seemed very overwhelmed by meeting all the new dogs at once. She got very nervous (showing her teeth and barking) when more than one dog would approach her. She seems to be fine as long as she can see our other dog, Elwyn, but he likes to run around and do his own thing and won't hang around to comfort her. Should I bring them both to the meetup or just Elwyn since he is fine around other dogs. I would hate to leave Gracie at home while we were out having fun, but I don't want her to scare anyone either. What do you guys think?

    Or you could take her to the park at slow times when there might be only a couple of other dogs there. Maybe she wouldn't feel so intimidated. And definitely start in the small dog area where the dogs are not so big and scary. I learned quickly not to baby Penny at the park when she used to be scared. It only made her more nervous, so I would use a happy voice and encourage her to walk with me away from the commotion and find something fun do do elsewhere for a while. Hope this helps!

    Thanks for the advice! I think we will end up bringing her to the meetup, and testing the waters. If she can't handle it, I will just leash her and walk with her on the trail. My husband can stay with Elwyn in the dog park. That should work, and then Gracie still gets to have an outing.

    I am now officially a member of the Baytown Kennel Club! And the youngest member by like 10 years! And I'm okay with that! I am looking forward to learning about the training and showing world and getting to meet all the cool dogs.

    Haha! It was high up, but the paper pad came unglued from the cardboard backing, which is still on the fridge. I guess I got my money's worth from the Target $1 section.
