I think the Reliant Dog Show is that same weekend. We were planning on going. I think the Corgi's go on around 8 am, according to the schedule on the Reliant Dog Show website (www.reliantdogshows.com)
I think 'we' are going to go to the dog show Wed. btw 3-5. I want to look at the vendors and it's free admission and parking on Wed. I know the website acts like you shouldn't bring your dog.... but I'm gonna take Sadie anyway. We are going out of town so we won't make the meet-up :(
We took one of our dogs last year and it wasn't a problem. There were actually quite a few dogs there (that weren't showing). I don't think its as big of a deal as they make it seem on the website. We are probably going Saturday morining at 8am. Wish it wasn't so early...
I stumbled across a murder mystery book series with a cat who's side kick is a corgi! The author is Rita Mae Brown. I just started the first book so I haven't formed an opinion yet. We shall see if it is any good!
By the way, we are so excited to see our corgi friends this Saturday! Penny and Jet tried on their costumes and Jet's is a little snug, but he doesn't mind. We are going to make their homemade pumpkin treats to give to everyone. See you guys Saturday!!
Well yesterday was one of the more interesting meet ups. I told my husband how our corgis were like a pack of wolves going after a poor little dog like it was a caribou. Well I guess its more like a group of short legged foxes going after a rabbit. Dispite the crazyness I had alot of fun :D
I just created a Halloween album on my page! The cowboy costume was definitely a hit! My husband got some really funny photos of it. We loved seeing all the corgis and look forward to another meet next month hopefully!
We had a great time! Those were great shots and I loved the action shot of Bailey and the cowboy going full speed. Barnum was doing so well until he got whiff of the unneutered male. So much for all the training I've been doing with him - he would not listen at all and it really revved him up even more once all the other corgis joined in...wow, what pack mentality! I'll be stepping up the training so hopefully the next meetup will be less eventful. Plus, he'll be getting fixed, undescended testicles be damned. Does anyone know how risky the surgery is for cryptorchidism? I just hate that it is so invasive.
This Thursday December 16th 2010 at 2pm Bing your Corgis to the Bill Archer Dog ParkHouston, TX 77084(281) 496-2177! Come all fellow Corgi owners and share the corgi fun. :)
I wish we could go! The weather is going to drop and get cool again this afternoon. I am almost 38 weeks pregnant so I am not traveling far from home, so you guys have fun and Penny and Jet will see you all sometime in the spring!
how sad to say that I'll be moving out of houston. I'm really sad about it but Im glad while I was here I got to have so many awsome corgi meet ups! Everyone's corgis are just awsome! and I'm glad I got to meet as many as I did. ~Alicia~
Our dogs were very upset that I was gone for 3 days (but didn't seem to miss my husband haha) and are just very curious about the baby and like to sniff him. They are doing great with him overall.
Below.... Clay is a 3-4 y/o male corgi. He is at Vermilion Parish Rabies Animal Control in Louisiana. He needs a home! The post I saw on facebook says he is very sweet and loves to be cuddled, but shies away from cats.
hello all. Is there any idea of a meet up at a dog park this or next month? Next topic: I have stumbled onto a web site http://corgiaddict.com/. It has tonnes of priceless corgi pic, post, and videos. I hope all is well with everyone.
So... looks like I'll be moving to Houston in early June. I will have a brand new corgi puppy doing the epic road trip with us. I know almost nothing about Houston -- any suggestions for an exploratory outing that is both corgi puppy and Midwesterner (not yet used to crazy humid summers) friendly?
have a fun road trip to Houston. Places to visit with your new corgi, hum....it depends on where you planning to live. Check out the Houston dog park association website. Galveston, University of Houston (day-time and on the weekend), and they are new parks/trails on the west side of Houston. Others will post with even more ideas.
Welcome to Houston! I'd recommend everything Hector mentioned, along with Discovery Green downtown and Elenor Tinsley Park just west of downtown. June will be ramping up the heat in Houston, so definitely bring water.
Also, a dog park outing sounds great! It's been a while!
