Just wanted to let you guys know in case you haven't seen my posts on my page, Taffy broke her hip on Thursday. We have seen so many vets this week. At one point they said she needed total hip replacement!! We took her to Texas A&M yesterday and they are going to do surgery next week. They said they don't think she needs a replacement. We will know more this afternoon after the surgeon sees her. The worst part is we had to leave her there! I know they are taking really good care of her. They have already called this morning and given us an update on how she's doing. We really miss her!! Izzy keeps looking for her. Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks!
January 1st, the Boneyard. Time TBA. Anyone else in town? I figure most of us will be off from work. I'm too old to nurse a NYE hangover. So... corgi meet up!??!?
Y'all down? I'll call the Boneyard to confirm they are open.
Once the puppies have gotten their rabies vaccines I hope to start making the meet ups! Pippa and Dante have a long way to go on their socialization still, unfortunately :(
I really wish we could make it... I'm really wanting for Gracie to meet all of her Corgi counterparts! We'll be coming back in to town tomorrow late-afternoon. If it rains (which it very well may be), then please reschedule! I would love to make it!
Lori - Since she's a girl, only thing I would say don't bring her if she's in heat. Because that would be SUPER bad. ALL of the dog parks have a rule against intact dogs and dogs in heat.
Do ya'll know if they require the Bordetella shot as part of their vaccines? I think that's the only one Gracie doesn't have right now because we haven't boarded her in a while.
Oh no... I just realized on the Boneyard website that children aren't allowed. We were going to make this a family outing and my children would be so disappointed if they didn't get to go. They were really looking forward to this... so we won't be going. It doesn't seem fair to us for them to not be allowed to be there. If a meetup is scheduled in the future in a more family-friendly location, we'll definitely be there.
Maybe we should mix it up more. Personally I enjoy having meet-ups at places that do and don't allow kids. Then there's some variety, and people who don't dig being around kids can be happy and people who have kids can be happy. And those of us who aren't capable of behaving appropriately in front of children (me) won't have to be good all the time. ;)
I have a couple of suggestions for parks that allow children.... there are two dog parks in Pearland (Independence Park and Southdown Dog Park). I believe both have agility equipent for dogs and look pretty nice. The other is Bay Area Dog Park in the Clear Lake Area. If you're ever considering a Corgi meet-up where families could come it seems that any of these three would be great! :)
Right... well members who aren't crazy about the drive would I guess be me because I live in League City... a lot of these parks on the Western side of Houston are pretty far for me. I'll just see what gets the most votes and then decide if I want to make the drive over there.
There is a set of two corgis for adoption in Austin, if anyone knows anyone.
Both the dogs initially came from breeders but Fanny, the Cardigan, was a rescue from a military family where the husband had died in Afghanistan and the wife had too much on her plate with a baby and another on the way. The owner of them now, cannot find the papers for either dog because she never in a million years thought she'd have to give them up. I believe they are both spayed and neutered but I'll confirm that for you. They are housebroken but have never been to obedience school.
Fanny is the lover of the two. She loves being around people and having her belly rubbed. She can be protective if she feels that those she loves are being threatened. She's outgoing and gentle. She's seven. When her housemate corgi, Walter, died, she was very upset and lost energy until Rufus showed up. It took her a while to warm up, but they now love each other and play together often.
Rufus, the Pemmie, is two. He's got a quirky personality and is very sensitive. He sometimes scares easily around loud noises or people who are strangers. When I was taking pictures of him for the corgi tales page, he kept running away every time the camera flashed. (Fanny seemed to love having her picture taken). He was bought from a breeder in OK. Emily was concerned that maybe the breeders were not very nice people and it's made Rufus skittish. Once he warms up to someone, he's very friendly but is not needy. He's more independent than Fanny.
We can do Bill Archer, it's a really nice park. But Pudge has been bad lately with unfamiliar dogs. We are still working with him. Unsure if we would go or not.
Hi all! We have been busy lately and out of the loop on meet-ups. We are going to be at the Bay Area Dog Park Saturday, 2/16 (tomorrow) morning. We'd love it if anyone could meet up with us. Here is a link to a map of the park: http://www.harriscountytx.gov/CmpDocuments/2/Parks/2%20BayArea%20SP...
After I wear the dogs out we are going to explore the park a little more and do some geocaching. I hope to see any and all corgis!! :)
Hi, everyone. I would love my 5-mo old pup to meet other Corgis, and I'd like to meet other Corgi owners as well. We can't go to Boneyard, though, since he's not fixed yet (though he will be eventually!). So would others be up for meeting at Bill Archer Sunday afternoon?
Rebecca, I took Ethel to the boneyard a month ago when she was 5 months old and not yet fixed. I don't know if they have a rule against that but no one ever said anything to me. Just wanted to let you know! She is getting fixed this week...looking forward to future meet ups! We had a blast.
Hello corgi peeps! The dog club I am affiliated with is hosting an agility trial this weekend at Jack Brooks Park in Hitchcock. If you are interested please come out and watch. Scout will be running for his first time in a trial too. That is sure to be entertaining in itself! We also need volunteers if you would like to help. For each round you volunteer you get a $4.00 voucher that can be used on future entry fees from this club or you can use it to buy lunch at the concession. Doesn't that sound enticing? ;-) Even if you don't volunteer it is fun to come watch! I tried to attach a flyer but I am not sure if it will work. Contact me with any questions.
Hi there everyone! I'm new to mycorgi.com and was wondering if anyone lived on the North side of Houston in Spring? I would love to meet up with fellow corgi owners maybe at Pundt Park (fairly new) and have our dogs play! Gino is about a year and a half old, mix breed between a daschund and a corgi. He's adorable!
Sounds good, we'll be at Buffalo Bayou dog park by allen parkway and montrose today at 1pm if anyone wants to join, I know its late notice, just a nice day

OK, let's reschedule. Pudge doesn't like getting wet, it means getting a bath. Sunday is for the win.

It''s a bar. And a dog park. The liability is too huge if a child got bitten. Our local dog park (Lucy park) actually has a ban on children too.
Next month we can vote on a different location.
