I'm not really familiar with Dragonball but you certainly wouldn't want a name that reminds you of something you don't like. :)

I like the name Griffin. When my fiance's Dad got his tri collor Pem I suggested that name. He totally looked like a Griffin but they went with Sammy instead. I love the name Rowan! I've used that name a couple times for different things like charactors in a game.

You should just get a baby name book and flip through it until you find one you like. As you said, there's no rush. :)
  • Kristi Reckard

I had many names picked out until I met my puppy then it was a whole different ball game after I got to see her personality. A welsh name tho would be really cute. I like your ideas:) Its fun to think of different names. I originally wanted recess and I had another corgi puppy I was selling so I went to recess and the other corgi named pieces until we sold her. Then I met the puppies and neither really fit those names. I love christain names too. My kids are running all over the house saying grace, grace grace! Its perfect!
  • Stephanie

Bartok or Radar were are boy name choices. Bartok was the bat in the movie Anastasia that had the adorable large ears. Radar too is an ear name.

We threw around Muggle and Dobi from Harry Potter.
  • Abbea and Vivi

I think Frannie fits her. There's just something about her that says, "Frannie."

I know I should probably just wait until I meet my puppy before I name him. I'm just afraid I'll still be so undecided when I get him that he'll be nameless for too long. :( Hopefully he'll have something about him that just "says" a name too.

Oh, and it's not that I don't like Dragonball. I actually used to love it when I was younger, but I just don't want that association for some reason.. I don't know why.

Finnigan had his bath yesterday. He was a filthy little puppy. Whenever I take him to my Moms to play with her Cardi (which is Finn’s half brother) he leaves stinky and covered in slobber. It’s fun for him, but not so fun for me. :)
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

    yay AZ corgis!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Alice

Welcome Joleene! Glad you made it. :)
  • Alice

Even if we had a yard, I don't think Finn would be aloud to stay out there all day. He's too much of a barker. Hope he outgrows that soon. :)
  • Stephanie

Thank goodness for the Bark Parks! It is the ONLY way T8er gets tired.
  • Abbea and Vivi

    Yay 12 members! Welcome Joleene!
  • Kristi Reckard

    welcome Joleene to Arizona Corgis:)
  • Jennifer

Hope it's ok that I joined the group a little prematurely--I won't have my Molly until Valentine's Day :o) But I wanted to ask if anyone has a good vet reference for the Mesa/Gilbert area. I want to make sure I get her in right away for a check-up and shots, and I hate just blindly choosing one out of a phone book!
  • Abbea and Vivi

Welcome Jennifer! Haha, I don't have a corgi yet either, and I started this group, so I think it's ok... :)
  • Alice

Sorry, I'm up in Scottsdale so I can't help you out with a reference in your area.
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

thanks for all of the welcomes! glad there is an AZ corgi group--what about a meet up group on e of these days? anyone visit the scottsdale mc donald/hayden park?
  • Stephanie

I haven't been to that park yet. Would love to plan a meet up though!
  • Kristi Reckard

I would be happy to drive to the park for a corgi day:)
Let me know when and where!
    thanks
  • Abbea and Vivi

I would go too if I don't have class or work that day. A weekend would be best for me, though it's uncertain whether I will work or not. I guess I could ask for an off day. :) What about all of you? Haha, you know, I haven't even touched a corgi before... Sad huh? I hope I don't get overwhelmed!
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

the scottsdale bark park is super dead on saturday nights. total ghost town- so, i would recommend maybe a sunday meet up. early evening time, maybe 5-6? any sunday is good for me......
    yay or nay?
they have 2 areas, 1 passive and 1 agressive. my mixes like to heard and nip so people have told me to go visit the other side. i look at it more like big dog side & little dog side. alot of people don't understand that nipping and being extremely vocal (as my astro is)- that he is not being agressive----he is just being him!
  • Stephanie

Sunday's work for me EXCEPT for this Sunday for football reasons :)
  • Alice

My brother had to have his Chocolate Lab put to sleep a few months ago and chose to have the vet do it in his home. The cost is slightly more but he said it was well worth it for her last minutes to be comfortable at home. One the dog has passed, they take the remains to be cremated (if you would like to keep them) and you will pick up the ashes in an urn.
  • Alice

As for the meet up. My fiance and I would like to go, just depending on when and where. We have Mondays and Tuesdays off (and I'm sure no one else does) and we are usually free Saturday evenings. We've never taken Finnigan to a dog park before so the less crouded the better.
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

Lorre--you can and by all means should have it done at home if you feel that is the most comfortable for your girl. i have not used any mobile vets but i just called my vets office and they recommended 2 people. Dr. Cayhill 602.867.7100 or Dr. Ottman 480.205.6610. hopefully that will help you....
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

i can basically do a meet up anytime---these next few saturdays are going to be busy for me though. monday the 2nd, tuesday the 3rd or friday the 6th...whatever works.
  • Abbea and Vivi

Hey, I've been to Saguaro Ranch Park! My husband and I had an onigiri (riceball) picnic there a while ago. It was really nice. I usually work Saturdays less often than Sundays, so maybe Saturday would be better for me. And it would be nice for it to be at a time before the sun goes completely down.
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

59th ave is quite a distance for me but we can mix it up a little! we can do the first one there (at saguaro) - then maybe next month do one at the scottsdale park?
  • Alice

I too am in Scottsdale so the Scottsdale park is closest but we can travel. Maybe we should just plan two meet ups since everyone has different availability, that way no one is left out. I can go after 5pm Wednesdays and Saturdays or anytime Mondays and Tuesdays. Thursday, Friday and Sunday are pretty much out for me.
  • Kristi Reckard

I am flexible on the dog meet up. I agree with keeping it small tho if possible as this too would be our first dog park!
I will also be willing to travel (I am in Gilbert). Just pick a time and day and place. Sounds like lots of people are available on Sat afternoons.
  • Jennifer

For those in the East Valley, there is an article on AZCentral that should be of note. Horrifying that someone could do this, and all the more reason to be extra-cautious about what your dogs eat while outside.
  • Abbea and Vivi

I just read the article. That's so horrible! I can't believe people can be so malicious. I hope they get caught and punished.
  • Abbea and Vivi

Oh no! The group got quiet! :x
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

i know for me i got super busy--
so whats the word on the meet up?
anyone want to do the 28th? seemed far away but now we are half way there........
  • Abbea and Vivi

It depends on if I have to work or not that day. I work part-time so I get my schedule a few days before the week starts.
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

alright- then let me know when you can. i commented in the forum- its easier to convo in there!
  • Alice

We should be able to go on the 28th if it's after 5pm. That's when we get off work.

Sorry I've been quiet. I've just been really busy with work and getting ready for our wedding which is next month, not to mention raising a puppy. Too much happening at once! :)
  • Abbea and Vivi

Bad news guys. I can't go on the 28th. My husband and I need to go to my parents' house in Cottonwood that weekend to take care of their dogs while they're out of town. :(:(:(:(
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

how about the 20th or the 27th?
  • Abbea and Vivi

Well, the 27th wouldn't work because that's when I leave to go to my parents' house. The 20th.. Maybe that would work. I'll have to see if I'm working that day.
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

im good on the 20th still-- let me know and we can plan for it when you know the schedule. alice on board?
  • Alice

I know we have something going on that night but we could probably make it earlier in the afternoon. What time were you thinking?
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

i work till 6 on the 20th. we can do the scottsdale one that night if we are shor on time....
  • Abbea and Vivi

I'm actually good any day as long as I'm not working, in class, or out of town.. I'll let you guys decide and if I can come then cool, but if not, that's ok too.
  • Alice

I think that would be too late since we have an event to go to that night. What about Saturday the 21st sometime after 5pm?
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

i was thinking before that the 21st would not work because my husband is going to the drag races. he said he should be home early enough to meet with us. so- saturday the 21st at 7 at the scottsdale location? good?
  • Abbea and Vivi

Hey, I think I could make it to that day and time. I'm not working on the 21st. I'll have to ask my husband and see if he wants to go too. 7 seems a little late, but I think it'll be ok. Since my husband and I need to wake up at 5:20 am on Monday we wouldn't be able to stay that long.
  • Kristi Reckard

I will do whatever just let me know when and where.
  • Alice

We should be be able to make it too unless something changes. Like I said, anytime after 5pm, so if 7pm works for everyone else, we're in. We wouldn't stay too terribly long either. Finn, still being a puppy, tires out after an hour or so. We'll just see how it goes. :)
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

alrighty. so- 7 pm, or a little earlier, at the chaparral scottsdale dog park on this saturday the 21st. golden!
  • Jennifer

Would it be ok if I brought my little one along? She has only had her first round of shots so I wouldn't be able to let her romp, but I would love to meet everyone!
  • Abbea and Vivi

It's up to you whether you want to bring her or not. I wouldn't let her on the ground as it could be contaminated with something she's not resistant to yet.
