I plan on being there. I hope nothing messes up my plans. Gwenie needs to meet corgis & see they don't bark at wind! Look forward to meeting everyone. I have Blonde hair & look goofy! BOL as Gwenie says.
It was indeed good fun to meet more people from MyCorgi. There's never a shortage of stuff to talk about when Corgi owners get together and of course the bunny butts always have a grand time.
"Chase" remains at the top of Corgi fun.
Trying to herd the those funny looking dogs who's legs are too long was popular.
Tummy scratches never get old.
Gromit and I went over to the agility contest on the other side of the park. There were several Corgis competing. Vicki Combs of Arizona Cactus Corgi Rescue was running this little sweetheart.
Had a great time meeting everyone one today at the dog park. Heres a link to my photobucket account where I uploaded the pics. If you want a full res copy of a certain picture let me know and Ill get it out to you.
Would anyone be interested in attending this event with their Corgi? It's awesome! Gracie and I actually won free tickets 2 years ago and you get a great dinner, open bar, your dog gets a gourmet meal (she had a choice of lamb or chicken, plus dessert!!), there's a fashion show (you can enter you and your dog if you'd like) and a great goodie bag when you leave. It's all to support the therapy dogs at Phoenix Children's Hospital. It's held in the most beautiful backyard of a private home in Phoenix. I would like to go this year and it'd be great to dine with a few more Corgis. :)
Carolyn, that sounds like a fun and worthwhile event. A bit too far away for me to plan on right now. Every time I make plans more than 30 seconds in advance they get messed up!
Coming up March 1 - 5 is a the largest all breed dog show in Arizona. There WILL BE CORGIS so if you want a chance to see some really top dogs it's a great event. You'll have to check the schedule to see just when the Corgis show, and the other events take place, it can be a bit tricky to find them but worth it. There will also be a large vendor area with all things dog for sale. I've been to this event three times and always enjoyed it and made new friends. Gromit and I will be there again this year.
The annual, big, all breed dog show is coming up this weekend in Scottsdale. If you want a chance to see some really top notch Corgis competing this is the best chance here in AZ. General info here: http://fiestacluster.com/
Pembroke judging schedule:
Friday is Ring 1, 8 a.m.
Saturday, judging is in Ring 9 at 9:10 a.m
Sunday. Ring 16, about 11:20 a.m.
There will also be a large vendor area and I think some all breed agility and obedience competition also.
Gromit and I will be there Sunday to watch the fun and say hello to Gromit's breeder and see one or two of his kinfolk compete.
A big show can be sort of jumbled and hard to follow and breeders who are showing can be a little tense but it is a good chance to see top notch dogs and maybe make some contacts for the future if you're thinking about a corgi pup. Sorry but I don't have any info on when Cardis will show.
We are moving to Tucson this summer and would love to have a meet up and see the great areas for dogs. Miso and Mochi love hanging out with corgis. Is there a good dark park in central tucson?
Yes!!! Let's meet up! Sorry, I haven't replied in a while. Been so busy!! Cooper and I are just dying to meet other corgis! A meet up at Reid Park is ideal! Tucson is far but not too far! Coop and I will travel the distance for corgi fun! I usually have at least one day of the weekend free. I am sure Coop would love to meet Winston and Princess Gwenie! He is a very friendly Corgi. Not a good guard dog cause he loves everyone!
Well, it hit 100F today in Tucson. So early morning meets! Princess likes to sleep in too! BOL Just send us an email KittyCorgi@gmail.com Busy with book stuff but will do my best to meet up!
Dixie would love to meet up with other corgis, too! We are also in Tucson and Reid Park is a great place to meet up and play. We were at the last corgi meet up and she made lots of friends!
Id be down for something like that on friday or after Wednesday next week. I've got finals this week and next and friday is the only day I wont be studying from sun up to sundown lol
There is the Phoenix Pet Expo this Saturday at the Univ of Phoenix Stadium 10 a to 6 p. Free parking, no entry fee, and you can bring your pets. Los of fun doggy activities, and vendors with all kings of goodies. Toby and I will be there around 11 a, til ??? Vicki from AZ Cactus Corgi Rescue will be there manning her booth. It's a way to see the inside of the Cardinals Stadium for free, as well. I think the doggie entrance will be on the north side.
Stadim is located at the 101 and Glendale Ave, in Glendale. (Can 't miss the big 'flying saucer' - visible from quite a ways away) Take the 101 to Glendale, turn east and then south on 95 Ave (first light) then to the 3 rd light (street right next to the north side of the stadium) Not sure how the parking will be set up - usually the wheelchair parking is closest.
I don't know about this friday... I live down in the Ahwatukee Area..but maybe if you have sometime in the future hit me up on my page. We always love meeting up with other corgi's!!
I went to the Pet Expo last year and my advice is to go early. It gets pretty crowded in the afternoon and if it's a sunny day the parking lot is hot on Corgi feet!! It's a fun event!!
Thank you for letting us know about the expo... my husband and I... as well as little Brody had so much fun! We even unexpectedly bumped into his sister from CA!!
Gracie and I got there about noon and we wandered around but my girl was fussy about drinking out of communal water bowls the one time I didn't bring her portable bowl and I knew she had to be thirsty so we didn't stay very long. She did manage to scarf down a few treats. We saw the AZCactusCorgis and wanted to take a few home with us. Were there other breeds of dogs there too? We didn't notice. :o)
Well, Gracie is soon to be a Seattle Corgi as her mom got a new job and we're moving!! We're so looking forward to exploring the dog parks, walkways by the water. It was fun saying hello to the Arizona Corgis that we had a chance to meet. Take care all!
I nearly forgot to mention it here but Gromit and I added a new Corgi member to our household. Gromit had been a bit depressed since his wiener dog pal moved back to California last year so I did the only sensible thing and bought him a puppy.
Yes, Doug, a new puppy is a real challenge, plus a ton of fun. Little Sparkle comes from an excellent breeder. Sure hope that Gromit and Sparkle really turn into super buddies. Toby and I are already trying to stay as cool as possible. Hope to see Gromit, Sparkle and youself at the fall Corgi picnic/fun day, if not before. Toby says hi - AaaaRrrrrOooooow.
Let's try for a Tucson Corgi meet! I would suggest one of the dog parks: Brandi Fenton Dog Park (River Road/Alvernon, http://www.doggoes.com/parks/arizona/tucson/brandi-fenton-memorial-...). Let's plan a little way out, so that many can mark their calendar. Saturday, August 4th, 10am?
