Does anyone out there like to take their Corgis camping? Share your campfire stories! :) My Beau loves to go camping! In Arizona you can camp in the National Forests and you don't have to stay in a camp ground, so we are out in the middle of the wilderness and Beau is a allowed to run around unleashed. He loves to mark his boundaries and patrol the perimeters! He always comes back to us when called and likes to stay pretty close to the food box.
We camp all around Michigan mostly in the State Parks. My favorite area is up in the Straits of Mackinaw. We spent 4th of July looking at the Mackinaw Bridge, Lake Huron, and 5 different towns fireworks! There is no camping on Mackinaw Island but it is an easy ride on a Ferry to lots of beautiful hiking trails and a fun place with bikes and horses and no cars. I also enjoy the west side of the state. There are many beautiful campgrounds on Lake Michigan. We don't really rough it because we camp in a trailer with a bathroom etc. The best thing for the corgis is lots of people that want to pet them! They are perfect traveling partners because they make people smile everywhere they go.
We have a pop up camper, and Rex loved the whole family sleeping in one space together--as a pack! For a couple days, he was really barky when other dogs walked by. But luckily he learned pretty quick from using the squirt bottle. We met a couple other corgis, which he surprisingly didn't bark at! He was very calm and friendly with them, I hope he will be this way at future Corgi meet-ups.
We went to Burt Lake State Park in Indian River, MI. We had to put him in a day of daycare while we went rafting down the river. If anyone camps in that area, I highly reccommend Indian River Pet Resort. It was very clean and nice, and VERY reasonably priced. He got a nice indoor/outdoor run, for $18.
i cant wait to go camping with my future corgi! i havent ever been able to bring one of my dogs with me camping before, either so i think itll be a great experience! (well, if all goes without a hitch anyhow haha.)
