Looking for a corgi

We live in SW VA and are looking for our first corgi. Do any of you know of options other than buying a $1000 puppy from a breeder (not that there is anything wrong with that, it just is not an option for everyone). I have exhausted myself searching petfinder and other rescue groups. Thus far, my only real possibility is a 6 year old stud dog whom I'm going to check out this weekend. I'd like to put feelers out in case he doesn't work for us. Of course, he may work just perfectly and I'll just have to end up with two!

    corgi rescue!!!   i would put in a call to north and south to see if they have anything you may be interested in, you would pay probably 1/3 of what you think you may have to pay.  I plan to have a litter this summer, but these will be show/performance puppies.  

     

    Try Derry Krause at 717 328 3911  she is big into rescue, and she is in PA(just barely).  also, try to call someone from the palmetto rescue.

      I have found great luck with Craigslist of all places...  I have 2 pure bred Corgi's found listed on there, both were under 10 months old when I got them and I didnt pay more than $150 total for both of them(one had a re-homing fee).  I check craigslist's pet section daily,  once your in the pets section search the keyword "Corgi".  I see Corgi's listed every month or two, usually they are a little older but if you check consistently you can really find some amazing deals on pups too..  As a side note, I try and post the links here when I find them because I always want Corgi's to find a good home ;)
