  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

Greetings, all. Gromit and I just joined MyCorgi today and I went looking for other "Zonies" here and here you all are!
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

I see mention of a Corgi get together this month. This inspired me to put on-line once again the pictures and such from the Corgifest here in AZ way back in January 2000 (gadzooks! Where did 10 years go??). Here's the link. Might bring back memories for some of you. Gromit and the rest of the family will see if we can make it up there to the gathering on the 13th.
  • Abbea and Vivi

I finally got around to uploading the pictures from last month's meet-up! They're in my profile, in the album called Valentine Meet-up. Enjoy!
  • Jess, Ein, Faye & Wilson!

I thought I saw something about a meetup this month, but now I cannot seem to locate it... Will there be one?
  • Alice

We didn't really plan meet up, Rosemary invited any who would like to attend to come to Paradise Valley Park on 3/13 at 10am where there will be some events going on. If you go back a page you can see her original message.
  • Abbea and Vivi

Doug and Gromit, wow! I wish we could have a turnout like that. Haha, I can't imagine 50 bunny-butts trotting around!
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

Great photos, Abbea. Sorry we missed that one.
  • Abbea and Vivi

It's ok! Maybe you can come next time when we schedule one. Gromit is totally adorable!
  • Lisa and Mousse

Is it the 13th or 14th? The comment below dougs says the 14th...
  • Alice

Hmm, I don't know because I see mention of the 13th and the 14th. Rosemary, which day is it?

I doubt I'll be able to go that weekend. The 14th is mine and my husband's anniversary and we have to get ready to move this month.
  • Rosemary Tilton

Sorry everyone, my computer had crashed.

p.s. bring a chair or blanket for the grass also your own drinks...............Rosemary
  • Alice

So is there a fee to attend? Everyone coming needs to bring a food item for the potluck and provide their own drinks and chairs, correct?
  • Kristi Reckard

I would love to go but with grace being pregnant, we are home for the duration. See you all in May:(( She is Due april 12th. I am so excited. I think she is suffering some morning sickness right now. Just not herself. Poor baby!
Her love of food has diminished:( My Ginger is happy to help her finish her meal though!
    LOL
  • Abbea and Vivi

Make sure she eats enough though! I can't wait to see the puppies.
  • Rosemary Tilton

About the 14th, there is no fee to attend , bring something to eat and drink, there will be raffles you might be interested in and so the agility testing there is a donation for the rescue group if you wish to do it. We just want to get all the corgi's in the Valley together and have some fun.
  • Alice

When I was at the specialist this weekend about Finn's hips they actually gave me a flier about the Cactus Corgi Rescue picnic. :)

I'll find out what we're doing for our Anniversary. Maybe we can stop by. I'll let you know.

How will all the MyCorgi people recognize one another?
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

Weather forecast for this weekend says sunny weather in the low 70's.
  • Alice

What sort of thing is everyone bringing for the pot luck? The pot luck part of it seems kind of odd to me for a gathering of strangers.
  • Lisa and Mousse

Mousse and I will be attending the picnic too. I'm at a loss as to what to being for the potluck though. What are y'all bringing?
  • Laura, Mike, and Sophie

We are so excited to come to the picnic! Will a veggie platter and hummus be ok with everyone?
  • Laura, Mike, and Sophie

how will MyCorgi members recognize each other?
  • Jess, Ein, Faye & Wilson!

I was thinking veggie platter too, LOL. Maybe I will bring a fruit tray then. :)
  • Alice

I was wondering how MyCorgi members would recognize each other too. I think we're going to try to stop by. It is our anniversary but I don't know what else we'd be doing at that time of day.

I was thinking I could bring cookies or something like that.
  • Lisa and Mousse

Yum! Hummus! I think I'll be bringing cucumber salad. Too bad we don't have something like mycorgi bandanas for all our little ones.... What if we pick a color of ribbon for the corgis to add to their collars or leashes?
  • Laura, Mike, and Sophie

Good call with the ribbon! I think i have a red ribbon?
  • Alice

I was thinking ribbon too. It should be orange though since that's kinda the MyCorgi color.
  • Laura, Mike, and Sophie

good call- and no one will have orange for something else.
  • Lisa and Mousse

I was thinking orange too just cuz that's the most predominant color on here, it shouldn't be too costly at a craft store.
  • Jess, Ein, Faye & Wilson!

I think someone mentioned getting tables for our group - what if we just had a sign for MyCorgi.com and we all meet up by it? It might be a little crazy looking at every corgi that walks by to see if they are part of the MyCorgi group.
  • Lisa and Mousse

I'll do the shirt idea :)
  • Alice

The t-shirt would be good for future events.

The sign on the table is a good idea but even if someone does that, I would still suggest the orange ribbons because not everyone will show up at the same time and if say I show up and I see the table but all of you who were early are off walking around, I won't know who's who. Any craft store (Michaels, Joann's, Hobby Lobby etc) will have cheap ribbon. Just get a bright orange and tie to either your pups collar, leash handle or you could tie it to yourself as long as it's noticeable.

I wonder if we'll see another Cardigan there!
  • Jess, Ein, Faye & Wilson!

Good point! I will run to the craft store on Saturday. :)
  • Alice

I added this in "events" and I mentioned the orange ribbons. If we change that or if there is anything else that should be listed just let me know and I'll edit it.
  • Abbea and Vivi

All this talk is making me want to come as well.. We might be able to, but we're having some furniture delivered that day (don't know the time yet). If that's all set up and done early enough we might come. I can't make any promises though.
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

Great fun today at the Corgi picnic. I thought maybe there would be 10 or 15 Corgwyn. As noted below, the turn out was even more fantastic! I'll post a link to my pictures from today shortly.

  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

Ok, I've got all the picnic pictures on Flikr. Here's the link.

If you see yourself or your Corgi and want to be identified below the photo just e-mail me and I'll update the pic info.
  • Alice

We had a lot of fun at the picnic. I didn't see as many MyCorgi people as I had hoped (or maybe some just didn't have an orange ribbon) but it was nice seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new ones. There's talk of them having another picnic in the fall and I hope they do since it was so much fun. We didn't see any other Cardis but I know there was at least one there and after talking with the owner we came to find out that she and Finnigan have the same father. She said her and Finn look so much alike; too bad we didn't get to meet her.
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

Alice, there were two Cardis over with the agility group. The people there had (I think) two Pems and two Cardis but the Cardis were in a covered wire crate. I spotted one peeking out as me. :-)
  • Rosemary Tilton

I wanted to Thank everyone who show up today. It was Great meeting you all and your babies. I hope you all had a good time meeting other Corgi owners from another group. We would like to do this again this year and do a regular bar-b-que.We'll be more organized with things for the puppies to do..........this time it will be just the groups.
I'm listing a few sites you might be interested in..........WagsnWigglesyahoo.Group.com(Az) you'll find pictures on the web site.Pembrokecorgirescue.com......has some interesting info...........they also talk about corgi-aid which pays for medical expenses for rescue dogs when it runs too high for the local to handle............You' also find Millie Williams who has written 2 books about corgi's in fairy tale tradition. Then there's Thewatchingstory.blogspot.com................it's another great corgi tale............then there's Corgese-L@yahoo.groups..................which is a wild site............the corgi's do the actually talking in their own special language , it takes a few read before you get the rhythm But it's fun...........Again Thank you so much for making it a great day for our corgi friends who need forever homes............Rosemary & chloe Mae
  • Alice

Thanks Rosemary, we had a great time and enjoyed meeting you. I can't wait for the next one!

Doug, I thought I looked in all the crates but I guess I missed them. I think the one that is Finn's half sister belonged to someone from Cactus Corgi Rescue (pretty sure she had one of those green t-shirts on) so maybe she'll be at the next get together.
  • Rosemary Tilton

Doug, if you want to get in touch with any one from the othe group go on-line to WagsnWIGGLES@YAHOOGROUP.COM...................WE'RE THE AZ GROUP......they can help you.
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

I added another entry to our blog, this entry is about Gromit-Land, i.e. the new Corgi size agility equipment I built for Gromit.

I thought I'd mention here that anyone in our general area that wants to bring their Corgi pal for a visit to give the concept of "agility" a try is welcome to visit us, just send me an e-mail. It's not like formal, competitive agility, but if you're just curious about whether you and your Corgi would like like it but don't want to get too official about it all just yet, we're happy to let you come and play.
  • Alice

Looks nice. Now you just need to add some weave poles. :)
