Charlottesville is a wonderful place. Wish I lived there-- we're about two or so hours away in Blacksburg. Madoc's breeder lives close to C'ville in Culpepper (Dalarno Corgis). Paco and Ruby are lovely corgis-- they'll make friends wherever they go!

    Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to let you all know that the PWCCP is holding a Corgi Fun Fair at Heritage Park, Walkersville, MD on May 15!!!!

Check the website for more info:

  • Foxgrinkennel.com

I went to the fair a couple of years ago and it was a great time! they had contests, a few agility obstacles, and a freestyle demo. I also got to meet my new baby Chessie - tookus pictured left : )
  • Tiffany-Rose Perry

    Maybe we should plan one?
  • Christina

Does anyone know of a meetup group near Newport News?
  • Sadie May

To my knowledge there is no Hampton Roads meetup group. I was planning one in Williamsburg for May, but have been terribly busy and time is flying!!! If anybody would like to plan one, I'd love to participate if I'm available. Thanks.
  • Foxgrinkennel.com

David if this doesn't work out and you need to let her be rescued, please call Derry Krause at 1 717 328 3911. She is located in PA and does a lot of rescue work with the Potomac corgi club.

Please let everyone know here if you are prepared to take her to a shelter and I'm sure you will get feedback.

New member in Richmond area with two well-loved Cardigan pups. :) Jon Farleigh (fluff) and Laura's Harley were in the same AKC Puppy STAR class at Richmond Dog Obedience Club. Harley was the smartest puppy in the class.
  • Nancy Geddes

Hello out there to all Corgis of Virginia! We live in Williamsburg and are finding it terribly hot down here right now! Hope everyone is well and keeping cool! Bear, Tasha and Linus

Just a shout out to all the Virginia Corgis.....We are Sammy and Merry.....so glad to join your group....We have looked at all of your pictures and both agree that Corgis are BEAUTIFUL. Currently we are trying to connect with a sheep herding instructor somewhere in near Richmond....like most of you we think it great fun to chase birds, rabbits, anything that moves..... Our Mom has several persons to contact, but we would love it if you would send any information you might have about instuctors.....hope to meet some of you in the future.
  • Marion Hebert

What time is the costume contest at Stony Point? I don't know if I will dress up my dogs, but always love to see what is in style for Corgis this year. Thanks for the information. Where is Ruff House Dog Park?
  • Marion Hebert

Merry Christmas to all the Virginia Corgis from Sammie and Merry.  We hope you all have Happy Holidays.   Boy are we ever excited....we are having company....and our stockings are already hung.....can't wait for the aroma of Christmas Turkey.....and all the fixings.....We know that we get to share in the feast....Our weather report is forcasting snow.....guess Santa and the reindeer will have easy sledding....We are both on our best behavior....even if we forget what that is sometimes....Guess Santa won't care....you have to goof off once and awhile.     MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

  • Sadie May

Merry Christmas to all our Virginia Corgis - a bit late this year since my owners were vacationing in The Bahamas!!!  Hope to meet you all this coming year!!!

Just saw this posted on Craigslist...

    http://norfolk.craigslist.org/pet/2183420326.html

Pure breed female Corgi less than a year old all shots utd. She's wonderful with babies and cats.

  • Louise Kurtz

Wish we could take them all in. Someone gave up a 10 yr. old corgi to animal control in Baltimore. Moving into an apt. that wouldn't allow dogs. I'd find another apt. or live in my car before I'd give up our corgi or any of my dogs.!!! Wonder why this one is up for grabs.
  • Ali & Scooter

I'd take her! Scooter would love a playmate. And that's so sad!
  • Foxgrinkennel.com

Try a can of cheese!  I have to use this for certain things like trimming nails, or in agility I use it at the bottom of the equipment to get a good contact.  The cheese will stick to anything but will clean up easily : )
  • Louise Kurtz

I guess I wrote my first comment when I was still half asleep.  He figured out how to use the ramp first try.  Did use bait the first time.  Sorry I was unclear.
  • Foxgrinkennel.com

I use a ramp at the car at trials sometimes and my corgis look at me like... seriously??? cant i just jump??
  • Marion Hebert

  • Marion Hebert

How could you not go see Lemon.....it fits.....Hope this all works out and you take her home.

    dear Craigslist-ers,

pnut our pembrooke welsh corgi needs a loving forever home. she's a little over a year old. she is a full bred corgi. she is kennel trained and somewhat house trained. she is a hearding dog so she will try an heard people close together by jumping and bumping you two together but she does not nip at heels like some hearding breeds do. pnut is utd on her shots and her rabies shot. she gave birth to 4 puppies in december so shes obviously not fixed. she gets along great with other 4 legged friends. she used to share a little dog house with my parents dog when she would visit. i've never heard her bark at any other animals or people she loves everyone. one thing she still hasn't grown out of is if she gets overly excited she might pee herself a little, her vet said she should grow out of it though. anyways we are unfortunatly moving and aren't allowed to take her:( our family loves her alot she's a good dog she's so pretty too i don't want to get rid of her but it has to be done. we ask for a 100$ rehoming fee, considering we bought her for 1800:/ and she comes with her kennel, food bowl, remaining food and toys. if intrested don't hesitate to email me back. oh and email me for pictures! I'm posting this from my phone....
  • RyNSour

Also, im totally sorry if Im spamming you guys with these links, not my intent at all! if these post are inappropriate or in the wrong place please let me know... I just want ALL Corgi's to find a loving home and this is the best place to find those type of people that I can think of...
  • Ali & Scooter

@ RyNSour- no, i love that you post these! I want to 'rescue' a corgi sometime in the next year or two so i like reading them. and I fwd them to good people I know looking for dogs too. I dont know how anyone else feels that is on this group but i appreciate it :) The more corgis we help find happy homes the better in my opinion :)
  • Elizabeth

Links are great!  Never be sorry for trying to find an orphaned dog a good home.
  • Marion Hebert

Just wondering about your opinions of dog parks.....I took my dogs to Rockwood Dog Park in Chesterfield Virginia and did not let them participate....I had looked up the info re: the park, which states that they check vaccination records and keep small and large dogs separated.  Not true...  No one checked vaccination records and small dogs were running with the large dogs.  That is large like Shepherds, Mastiffs, Pit Bulls and etc.... and small like Boston Terriers, cockers, and smaller....There was no park supervision.   Messes were seldom  cleaned up....I would guess that there were 30 or more dogs in the area, owners and some young children.....This was in an area I would guess to be 1/2 acre or less.  There was a much smaller area for small dogs, but most of them were in with the large dogs.  It all seemed unsafe, unsanitary, and operating under no regulation for vaccines or safety for the dogs or their owners.  Great way for your dog to become infected with disease or parasites.  The park is on the internet and is made to appear much better than it actually is.

    1 year old Corgi:

Hello, my name is Ein. I'm crate trained, leash trained, know some commands, and am working on house training. I love kids, cats, and other dogs. I have registration papers, all my puppy shots (but need my rabies) and I'm un-neutered. My family doesn't have much time to give me the attention I need. Can you? Please only e-mail my people if you understand that I will require a rehoming fee to ensure I go to good people. Thanks! ~ EIN

2.5 year old female Corgi Mix, all shots, spayed, Microchip-ed.

Sweet dog who needs new home and family. She is a very active dog and being dual military we don't have time to give her the attention she needs to be completely happy. We took her in for a friend who was moving out of state for a while and then he decided he could not send for her. We couldn't stand to drop her of at a shelter, so we took her in with the sole intention of re homing her. We need to find a loving family for her. She is extremely friendly, and the commands she knows are sit, shake, and sometimes will dance. An established home would be ideal for her. She is crate trained and will not use the potty inside. She goes to the back door when she needs to go. She loves her big pillow and laying on it with her bone.

The corgis in Lynchburg are up for contest that could win $100,000 for the winning city. I need everyone's help. You can vote twice per day, once on Facebook on the Petsafe page ("like" the company then use the Bark for your Park page on their page) and once on the contest website - barkforyourpark.com

This is the only way we can get a good park, and if we win we can have a corgi meetup group in central VA. Please please please vote because every vote counts.
