Buckley's folks

Profile Information:

Hometown:
St. Catharines
About Me:
I grew up with multiple corgis in the household. Corky the rescued fluffy was the first. Then my parents welcomed first Scout, then Rodeo, and then finally along came sweet miss Sofy. Three corgis at a time was active and overwhelming, but oh so much fun. Sofy passed away last year at the grand old age of 12. I long ago moved out of the family home, but always knew that when the time came to welcome a dog into my life, there would be no question about which breed I would choose. It would have to be a Pembroke! I waited a long time for my little guy to come into the world, and my life has been forever more changed by this four-legged bundle of happiness named Buckley. I met my now fiance a few months after bringing Buckley home, and I have to tell you, I think that little fat, mischievious puppy was a huge attraction for my dog-loving fiance! He is now a full-fledged corgi lover, much as I am. There really is no other breed of dog that can possibly compare!
About My Corgi(s):
My red corgi is named Buckley, but somewhere along the way, earned the nickname Monsieur, which makes him sound much more dignified than he is at 20 months. He is headstrong, clever, stubborn, and mischevious --- everything a corgi should be! Buckley has a permanent twinkle in his eye, a happy grin on his face, and a soft spot for nightly puppy cuddles with 'mom'. Quite simply...the best dog around!

    Welcome Buckley's Folks! St Catharines huh? Fellow Canadian?

    My wife is Canadian and she's currently on her way back to toronto :) Mocha got his CGC before 2 yrs old. We enrolled him in puppy class when he was a few months old, then the intermedia class, then advance and took the CGC test.

    Glad to have you with us! Buckley is a cutie, for sure!

    Buckley is a handsome boy. How can you not love a face like that!

    We expect to bring the puppy home the weekend of Feb. 16. I'm very excited. Basil was the best dog I ever had. I don't think I'll ever get over losing him. I love all my dogs, but he certainly was special. My Lizzie is sitting at my feet now...guarding me while I work at the computer!

    HI, CorgiCapers told me that you are fellow Canadians. I have been looking for some. Are you in the Maritimes?
    I just read your post about limping. We just adopted a 9 year old Cardigan. He started limping Monday night. I reduced activity Tuesday and he was very depressed. I played with him a few times today and he seems much better. I had phoned the vet who thought it sounds like a sprain and told us to rest him for several days. This is really hard to do. If I get him to "stay" he thinks he is being punished. He is a very sensitive soul. Anyway, his limp is majorly improved (we'll see when my husband gets home if it is back again). If you have any advice, feel free to pass it on. Nice to meet other Canadians. Joy (and Buttercup).

    I'm glad to hear that Buckley's limp was nothing serious. Just wondering what you think about pet insurance. If you have it, do you use a Canadian company? It is a ripoff? Yes, the Maritimes are beautiful...you'll have to come visit. You are always close to the ocean, I live in PEI and I expect that one is never more that 10-15 minutes away from the ocean. Joy Buttercup played quite a bit yesterday and he went for a bit longer walk in the evening and we didn't see a limp. However, he just woke up, walked into another room and promptly fell asleep again. His walk didn't sound even but I'll have to check him today. He does an odd walk that he has been doing his whole life; he shuffles his front feet, doesn't really pick them up. We never have to clip his middle front toenails because he wears them down with his shuffle...strange.
