We have a farm in Southern Indiana - Seven Oaks -and raise quarter horses. We have had several rescue dogs, horses and cats over the past 20 years, but Hillary is our first Corgle.
In the real world we are a gerontologist who works for a national non-profit and a second career music therapist working at a senior wellness center while finishing a music therapy program and a Master's degree in Exeptionalities - working with pre-k children.
About My Corgi(s):
Our Corgi is a recent rescue - actually a Corgle (Cardigan Corgi and Beagle) and just an amazing little character. We named her Hillary because she has spunk and a never say never attitude.
When we met her at the rescue center we were told she was low energy, very quiet and shy with other dogs. Right! That was Hilary's incarcerated personality. After less than 6 hours at Seven Oaks she came out of her shell and showed us her true spritely personality.
She runs and circles and displays affection and looks for affirmation that she is loved. We think she must know she is home.
Welcome to you and Hillary. Interesting...I posted just a short while back about a tri Beagle/Corgi cross looking for a home. You can see her in my blog. You wouldn't have acquired your little girl from Nebraska would you? I think it is wonderful that you rescued Hillary. We live on a farm acreage with horses, cats, rescues and a pack of corgis. So glad to see you here!
Quinn,
Welcome to MyCorgi. There are lots of corgi mixes on the site. We love all corgis and mixes. Can't wait to see some pictures, a cardigan/beagle mix must be really fun. Does she howl at all?
what a cutie. I can certainly see the attitude in her picture where she's running towards you and her corginess where she's laying on her back. Hopefully she'll provide you with all the antics corgis are capable of!!! How about frapping?
Frapping-Frantic random acts of play. Generally it is a frantic running around pieces of furniture in a figure eight pattern or just circular. They have a possessed look and when done will look for applause or compliments! LOL There are a couple of videos on this site illustrating a good frap session. (Most corgis will do this, some only as puppies but alot will continue into their older years. Timmy is 5 and he still does.)
Timmy and I both love the work we do with Delta. We visit about every 4-6 weeks (bath requirements). We do a visit to a large skilled nursing facility and the next day, go to the local hospital and visit patients there. Truly rewarding and for "the love of a smile".
