Profile Information:

Hometown:
Bartlesville, Oklahoma
About Me:
I live with my husband, 6-yr-old daughter, a house full of cats, 6 fish and now Doc. We live in the country and I work from home as a dispatcher for petroleum tankers (I tell drivers where and when to deliver gas to the stores that sell it).
About My Corgi(s):
Doc Holliday, "Doc", was found wandering around our home on August 11, 2008. We fed him and showed him some attention and affection and he's been ours ever since! From Day 1 he became SO attached to me and I fell in love with him just as quickly! He did not have any tags, so no idea where he came from (we think he may have been dumped). We coaxed him into our fenced backyard that night to keep him safe from the cars that speed down the road here.

I took him to a groomer about 4 days later, who told me that she estimated him to be between 2-3 years old. He appeared to be very healthy and well-cared for, but his EXTREMELY timid and super-anxious demeanor makes us wonder if he's been abused. He startles SO easily and just seems to be afraid of EVERYTHING, even after having him for about 10 days now. We have made him an indoor pet and hope that over time he may become more relaxed and comfortable here.

Hello to everyone here! I have plenty of questions and comments for you all, but I'm late getting started for my shift, so I will have to return later. Please read all about me and Doc, my new sweetheart, and leave me a message! Thank you!

OOPS!! My profile says I'm male, but I'm not. I thought it was asking the gender of my dog! lol I am female, and DOC is male!

Welcome to Mycorgi.com! I love the name! Doc is a very handsome little boy. I think it's great that you just brought him in. I don't think I've seen any strays here. In Oregon, there was a stray kitten across the street in a church's parking lot. I left it food and water, but I never saw it again after that. Anyway, welcome to the site. It's great for and questions or concerns!

    Welcome Starr, Doc and family!

Hi Starr, Doc sure is cute. Sounds like you have a dumpee. Poor thing. He may have been abused or badly socialized. It may take some time for him to adjust but I am sure that the natural corgi personality will emerge once he is comfortable with you.

Aww... that is so nice of you to take Doc in! It will take some time to adjust. Hopefully he will begin to trust you all soon. Good luck!

Hi! We have not heard from you in awhile and I was wondering how Doc is doing.
  • Starr Hawk

Hi, Geri and Sidney! I was actually just thinking yesterday about how long it's been since I signed on here..... I've been extra-busy with work, my daughter, life in general....

But Doc is doing great! He still follows me everywhere I go, is right by my side every minute and, of course, he just gets sweeter every day! He still seems timid and skittish, but not like he used to be! We've kept pretty much the same routine so he always knows what to expect and that helps his confidence, I think.

He did the sweetest thing ever on Monday. I had to go to a parent-teacher conference at Aislyn's school, and he was sitting at the front door watching me as I pulled out of the driveway. (Keep in mind that I work from home and rarely go anywhere, except maybe once a week to the store and back.) I was gone for about 45 minutes, and when I got home, he was STILL sitting at the door waiting for me to come back! I made sure by asking my husband, "Has he been sitting at the door like that ever since I left?" He replied, "Yeah, and you two are making me sick!" ;) He says that all the time, because that's how often he says Doc and I are just getting "too mushy"! lol He's not seriously jealous or anything like that; he just like to tease me.

I was having a hard time finding a dog food that Doc really liked, but I think I finally found a winner! Earlier this week, I tried Pedigree for the first time, and he gobbled it down so fast that he actually burped out loud as soon as he was done! I laughed so hard, and he eats and then burps like that every day now!

Can't think of anything else right now, and you probably just read more than you bargained for anyway, so I'll go for now. Thanks for thinking of us! Take care!
