About Me:
I am basically retired but volunteer and take painting classes to resume my past joy. I have a part time administration position.My husband a few years away from retirement, travels a lot for the job and is able to work from home the rest of the time. We have twin son and daughter, both of whom live many states away from us. We have 2 grandkids that we can't visit often. We are year-round residents in an historic summer community. Dogs can't be walked in public during the summer months except on a leash from 8 PM to 8 AM! No house is allowed a fence, either. The dog rule used to be that dogs had to stay in community owned outdoor kennels in the woods all summer long! (Residents cared for their own dogs and it became very social and not bad as it sounds.) There are wonderful dog trails in the woods. Now that dogs don't have to stay in kennels during the summer, many more families have opted to get dogs - we have always had a dog but this is our first corgi.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Because I am Welsh, my husband asked me to think of a Welsh name for our female pup. The only name that immediately came to me was not Welsh but rather a nickname that occasionally I had been called as a child - Lilibet! Lilibet is, I was told, a childhood nickname for Queen Elizabeth who has a herd of corgis! That was it - my husband wouldn't consider any other name. The only problem is that none of our friends get the name right - they say Lilibeth or Lilibutt or just Lily etc. We often say Littlebutt or Lilidog. When our last dog, a mixed shepherd type, died after a long life, i did not want another dog because I wanted the freedom from worry about getting home for feeding etc. but my husband wore me down. To get back at him I randomly suggested he check out corgis. He knew nothing about them but did his research, found a breeder, picked out our tricolor female pup in January 2003 and it has been a love affair ever since. Lilibet loves to swim in the river in front of our house and she loves to run on the beach and on trails and chase ducks, deer and squirrels. My husband and Lilibet, along with a neighbor and her cardigan, walk about 21/2 miles every morning . The two dogs walk like a team! Lilibet also loves to go sledding and tubing! She loves the snow! She will also hop on any boat for a sail. She loves riding in the car - the best travel dog ever- never a peep out of her and she can ride 8 hours without a sweat! She sleeps in her original crate but, like clock work, comes to get us at 9 PM to be put to bed - even if she has been in bed already, she has to get us to put her in and close the door! She never begs for food, except for popcorn! She eats 1/3 cup Bil.Jac Select dry food twice a day - 7 AM and 5 PM. It is as if she swallowed a clock - if we are home she woofs at 5 PM to be fed (regardless of when she was fed in the morning) and she woofs at 9 PM to go to bed. We continue to be amazed. She loves to do tricks and often goes through her entire repertoire as soon as we touch the clicker. When we say "Let's camp out" she runs to get on our bed to sleep instead of in her crate. She becomes almost comatose when we pick her up like a baby, turn her on her back and rub her belly. We can't stop loving this dog!

    Izzy Winn and Lilibet, Welcome to MyCorgi! I get to DC fairly often and have always wanted to visit Annapolis, but haven't made it there yet. One day soon. Corgis are an amazing breed. I've always said it is like having a cartoon charactor living with you. We have four Corgis two tris and two red/whites. Can't imaine life with out them! Your Lilibet sounds like a constant source of entertainment!

    Welcome to the site! The description of your community really intrigues me! I used to live in Maryland but didn't spend much time in Annapolis. It's a beautiful city, though. I love all the detail you gave us about Lilibet. It really shows how much you adore her.

    Welcome to the site! A good friend of mine lives near Annapolis, and has a red and white Pembroke Welsh corgi, and dotes on him too. How can you not adore a corgi?

    Thanks for the friend add, Lance says thanks too, woof..... : ) Oh yeah that makes sense, cool to have both your names come from Elizabeth. My brother in law has a pem and her name is Isabella.

    I love your description of Lilibet. She sounds like the most fun and adventurous Corgi there is. Your videos are just too adorable. What a great relationship you have with your dog! I hope one day that Penny will get to experience sledding and chasing ducks!
