About Me:
We're just recently married and ready to start our new lives together. As a wedding gift, we got our little new puppy to join our lives. Before her, we got a tiny little kitten who was a rescue. It was more like she picked us. Her name is Luna and she is about a year old. We just bought a house a couple of months ago and are learning what it's really like to be home-owners. It's been a great past year and we're excited to start our married lives with a brand new corgi.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Our Welsh Corgi's name is Zoe. She is just a pup right now (turned 8 weeks on 6/28/10). She's fulllll of energy. She came from a litter of 9 and we just picked her up this past Saturday (6/26/10). Let's just say she has a set of lungs on her, but in the four or five days we've had her, she's already let us sleep through the night twice (we weren't expecting that for a full two weeks!), so she's been a great blessing. She loves to chase our kitten around even though the kitten doesn't enjoy it much haha. Her special feature is a nice little heart shape on her forehead.

    Hi Dan and Jen,
I'm so happy to see my little Mia's sister Zoe!!! We picked up Mia on Saturday the 26th as well, I'm guessing after you because Zoe wasn't there anymore... awww this is so nice :) How is Zoe? How is she behaving? Is she a little angelic devil like our Mia? hehe

    Hello again :)

Yes sorry about that I realized a little too late. Did Diane tell you about this site or you found it on your own?

Mia is doing absolutely great! She is such a smart girl. The first 2 days she already learned to “sit” and “come”. I’m so proud of her! The first night we kept her in our bedroom, but we woke up to find her chewing on cables. So the next night we kept her in the kitchen behind a baby gate, but the problem with that was that she would go potty in the kitchen. So on her 3rd night we decided to start crate training her and leaving her there over nig (for her safety and for potty training). In the middle of the night she wakes up and whines because she obviously doesn’t want to go potty where she sleeps, so that allows us to wake up and take her out. The past 2 nights we had to wake up 3 times every night. It really is like taking care of a baby :). We have a few things to work on with her. When she gets excited and plays she bites and barks and runs after us biting our pants and so on (that’s the herding trait hehe). So we still haven’t found a successful way to correct that. But other than that, she is absolutely amazing! She loves people and is just so sweet and cuddly. My next step will be to socialize her with other dogs, I hope it goes well :)

Tell me about Zoe? How is she behaving? And how were your first couple of days?
  • Viola & Mia

Ah yes forgot to tell you about the drive back home... It was a 4 hour drive. The 1st 20 minutes or so, Mia was very anxious and nervous and whining a little bit… but after that she settled down, got use to the car and slept the whole way back... minus a few stops for potty time :)
  • Viola & Mia

Oh my gosh!! I just realised Zoe was "Sweetheart"!

  • Viola & Mia

Awwwww Zoe is definitely Mia’s twin sister!!!

A little trick for the crate… We usually wait for Mia to fall asleep anywhere she desires around the house. Once she’s asleep we carry her to her crate and she continues to sleep till potty time.

We are also debating if we should take an obedience trainer or not. But not in a school because I know Mia would get way too distracted. I want one of those trainers who come to your home, like this all the attention is on our little Mia.

Yesterday I tried something new, a tip that I got from people on this website. First we had to introduce Mia to the smell and taste of peanut butter. Then Using Mia’s Kong (it’s a toy, picture below) we stuffed it with peanut butter, we put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes, and then we gave it to her. She NEVER got board of it and kept going at it till she fell asleep!

I will be posting new pictures of Mia tonight and maybe even a video :) I can't wait to see Zoe's pictures!

Oh gosh don’t apologize! Hope your surgery went well! And please don’t rush… let your shoulder heal first! Diane messaged me, Jazz is expecting pups mid August how exciting. She also said that she will email our girls other siblings about this site… so maybe one day soon we will find their other siblings :)
Congrads on the ears up!! are'nt they so cuteeee!!! They really are twin sisters! I believe they were the only 2 black head tris from the litter :)
Get better soon, and have a great day!
  • Viola & Mia

Oh myyyy she is soooo sweet!! I can't believe it, I was sure that Zoe and Mia were the only 2 black head tris from the litter! Looks like Mia is the only one haha

Can you imagine my family and I wanted specifically a red head tri and out of 9 puppies we chose the ONLY black head tri haha... but gosh she was just so adorable we couldn’t change for another pup we were already in love with her!

How is Zoe behaving? :) Our little monster is full of energy, she is just so funny! and likes to talk... A LOT! hehe

How is your shoulder? Getting any better?

    Have a nice day,

    Viola

    Oh I'm sorry!

From now on it will always be Dan and Jen, :)

Mia is doing really great she had maybe 1 accident in the past week and that was our fault (but never in her crate). Maybe you should make her a smaller space in the crate so she won't have place to do her business... Mia's crate is devided we leave her enough space just to sleep and that's it, so she always asks to go out when in her crate. She still doesn't ask us to go out when out of her crate so we watch her at all times for signes n usualy catch her before she does it.

I’m looking for a good obedience school in my area… my issue with Mia is that she likes to talk a lot, but for no reason what so ever… she just talks and talks and talks… she’s pretty loud (not fun in the morning or at night when people are sleeping in the house). She is also afraid of certain family friends, I can’t understand why… we introduced her to so many people and she has been to BBQs with us and parties… but certain people she won’t approach and backs up and barks at them. She also HATES swimming! I have a video that I will post soon hehe she is so cute!

What about Zoe? Did you end up taking obedience classes?
  • Viola & Mia

    Hello Dan and Jen! :)

Well as far as accidents, Mia is doing GREAT! She has maybe one accident a week! Never in her crate, usually on our balcony, I guess she thinks its outside hehe

As for the swimming, maybe she was scared, there were so many people watching her and the pool was pretty big (and the water cold hehe). She’s still a great swimmer despite the fact that she hated it :) I still didn’t post the video but soon soon, I haven’t had the chance…

As for the biting, I use to say “NO” in a firm tone of voice and I would put my finger in front of her. I was told to remove the finger since she probably thought I was playing with her. So now I just firmly say “NO”. To my surprise she stops what she is doing and waits. I usually give her a toy right away and praise her, and she continues playing with the toy. Sometimes it doesn’t work as well when she is SUPER hyper so it takes a few firm NO’s. Usually anything that we don’t want destroyed we keep out of reach... she is never out of our sight, and when she is, she’s safe in her crate. :)

    Hi Dan and Jen,

When I look at Zoe's pictures I keep thinking to myself how certain pictures are so similar to my little Mia, with the same pose or facial expression!!! So cute!!! :)

I discovered something funny with Mia. Out of the blue I decided to “howl” like a wolf (please don’t ask why lol) while I was in the car and Mia was on my lap. She gives me this sudden look, and then proceeds to attack me with kisses and licks! :D I tried it a few days later and each time she does the exact same thing. When we’re at home and she’s not on my lap, I sit on the floor and “howl” and she stops to look at me for just a second from the other end of the room, and runs to me like a little animal and proceeds to jump and try to lick me! I should get it on camera…. I just thought it was really funny and cute… try it with Zoe! :D
  • Viola & Mia

Awwww hahahah they are so cute!!! You know what Mia really started attacking us with kisses and licks... every time she sees us, when she wakes up, when I pick her up, when I lay down on the floor (she does try to chew my hair hehe). I also taught her to kiss on command :D… But she doesn’t go for the fingers as much as she used too, and when she does we tell her to stop and she usually stops.
