Well lets see we are corgi -slaves like most of you are, we just work for the corgi. LOL
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Well this Caden a very accomplished door opening specialist. He is a tri Color male. He is quite a ham my girl friend has taken close to 300 plus pictures of caden since the new year began.
As of May 10 we have added Henry a red-white who is nearly 3. Henry is the one that is full of energy.
Thanks for the reply! My daughter and I just can't believe how this little spunky pup has totally controlled our lives! We have 7 dogs, all farm dogs, all very much loved, but LoLo is just part of the family! The shedding gets old, though. I am a neat freak and I have to vaccuum daily. I've attempted to vaccuum LoLo, but she hides and gives me those 'eyes' when I do that to her!! HaHa! Caden sounds like a sweet one! how old is he?
Hey Mike. We are actually getting him from Missouri. We didn't know of a place by Cedar Rapids. Ha, probably would have been a little bit easier to get to, but we really like our breeder too. :D
sorry i missed you in chat earlier. we are gonna see what we can do to get to IL. i dont know yet if we will be able to or not, it all depends on where the next load takes us. we just never know where we are gonna be. if we can get there it will most likely be the chicago area. we will do our best to try to make this happen. i would love to see henry go to someone who knows what to expect with a corgi. i will keep in touch and let you know for sure if we can bring him to you as soon as i know. if you have any alternative ideas on getting him there we are open to suggestions.
Mike and Lisa,
I am so happy that you are taking Henry. I have "known" Frank and Manda via cyberspace from here for a while now and Henry is a very special guy...much loved by Frank and Manda. I know you will take excellent care of him.
HI Mike and Lisa,
Just wondering how Henry is settling in. Like Jenni, I have known Frank & Henry online for a long time. From the pics Henry looks pretty happy!
No problem! We're excited :) Do you know the rules of the park for bringing food & drinks? I think the event usually involves everyone bringing a side dish of some sort or drinks.
I did. Todd Brinkmeier and I ran the archery range at day camp. He was a alot of help to us. He did a good job! I think it was his corgi wrist band that gave him away. We just got our pup June 1st. Your red and white one looks alot like our "droopy" when I was growning up. He told me about the picnic.
Sounds like fun.
It was really nice meeting you today. Caden and Henry were so sweet !
We want to say thank you again. Jeter loves your corgis and especially your son !!
Here is a link to the Freeport Journal Standard that talks about our picnic and has a picture of Demetrio with our boys and one more! http://www.journalstandard.com/opinions/columnists/x366030815/Corgi-love-is-the-best-kind-of-love-for-these-clowns
Yup. It was the Lakeshore Rescue. I'm frantically gathering everything I need and am resenting the day-to-day stuff I still have to do. Sigh.
I'm really looking forward to getting together with everyone!
I looked at your profile and Caden looks almost exactly like my boy, Will.
Is your dog a Wyndtree Corgi?
Or was your dog's dad Ch Sandyshire's The Phantom? That was Will's dad and he looks just like his dad. It would be so cool if our 2 boys are related. Look at my member page to see some of his photos and you will see how much Caden & Will look alike.
I thought I was right. I showed Caden's picture to my husband and didn't tell him anything about the photo. He thought it was a nice picture of Will.
Will was born Wyndtree Shakespeare in Love. He was born October 26, 2007. He was a show dog. Teresa Mulhausen 1/2 owned him with another woman. When that woman died of cancer in October of 2009, Teresa asked us if we wanted him. She thought of us because we had adopted our female puppy, Wynne, from her that summer. I had told Teresa that I would eventually want a second. Will came to us a bit faster than we planned, but he has been wonderful.
Please say that you are coming to the Corgi Picnic! They are still planning, but right now it looks like Sept 11 at the park in Hoffman Estates. We will be coming from Champaign, Illinois. Oh, and be sure to get their sister to come. Are they on MyCorgi?
I would love to see the boys together and to get some pictures. I just finished going through your other pictures online and I stole some of Caden. Here is a picture of one of their other brother's Harry at a show...
We met him in Oct. 2009.
I would love to see some puppy pictures of Caden. Can you share some with me? Since we got Will right before he turned 2 years old, I only have 2 puppy pictures of him that were Teresa's when he was about 8 weeks.
This is a picture of Will and Caden's dad. See how they both look like dad?
I met the owners of Caden & Will's dad in Oct 2009. They recognized that Will was a pup from their dog when we just walked by. They stopped me and said that there was "The Phantom" in our dog. I had no idea what they were talking about, but it turns out they were right. That is how much Will looks like his dad.
This is a picture of Will when he was a baby...
There were 9 puppies in that litter and he was boy #4.
That is great. I liked the story of finding Caden, your wife and son all in the same year. that was a great year. I met my husband when we were both volunteering at our local humane society. I tell people he was a stray I picked up.
If you got Caden in February of 2008, he was between 3 and 4 months old. He was born October 26, 2007.
By the way, you mentioned that Caden's sister lives 13 miles from you. Are they also on MyCorgi? If so, please send me their sign on name so I can check out their pictures as well. Thanks.
When we went to Teresa's back in Oct 2009, Maggie was there. I think Maggie lives there full time now since she finished her championship. I have a couple pictures of Maggie from our visit. But there were dogs everywhere so those pictures are not too good. There were Teresa's 5 Corgis, our 2 Corgis, and 2 Greyhounds runnung around the living room. It was rather frantic.
We plan to drive to drive to Iowa Sunday, Aug 14 and get a hotel room. We will visit with Teresa on Monday, August 15 because Mondays are her one free day a week from the horse stable. If she wants us to come by Sunday night for a bit we may do that as well. I need to call her again and see if she's up for that. However, Sundays she is still working with the horses and training riders during the day. Can you go on a Monday? Also, I would never surprise her that way. We would need to call her.
I am sure she would love to see Caden again and I would like to meet you all.
Read the other message first. It will make more sense that way.
I did call Teresa tonight. I told her that I found Caden and that you might call her about visiting as well. She said she always likes to see her puppies, so you should call her. The name Caden threw her for a minute. Apparently, she called him by a different name before you renamed him. (I changed Wynne's as well. Will was 2 years old and KNEW his name when I got him, so we kept it.)
Maggie is there and she had a litter recently. When I go on the 14th & 15th, some of the puppies will still be there, but others will have already gone home. They are all spoken for so don't get any ideas! You might want to visit soon, however, so you can see the pups as well.
Tea died last week. Tea is Caden's grandmother. Wendy is Caden's mom and she was Tea's daughter with Guy. I didn't ask what happened to Tea. Teresa had a hard time talking about it. Maybe I will learn more when I go there. I think Tea was about 13 years old. Anyway, Tea was the grandmother to Will & Caden as well as my girl, Wynne. Wynne's mom was also Wendy. Wynne had a different father that Will & Caden.
I checked out all your new pictures. You have 2 happy looking dogs.
Did you decide to contact Teresa? We are going there this Sunday & Monday. I am dying to see the puppies. It will be fun to remember how little Wynne was when I took her home.
We got back late last night from visiting Teresa. All our dogs got along great. She had 5 puppies there to visit as well. All red & whiites about 11 weeks old.
My husband plans to set up a photo bucket account with the pictures to send out to Teresa and some friends. I will send you a link when we get organized.
Looking forward to meeting your boy next week. I hope that Caden and Will become fast friends. Did you get a chance to look at the pictures I sent on photobucket?
Question: Since you are from the area around Freeport, can you tell me the name & location of the emergency vet? I always like to have that info when traveling with my dogs. If one gets injured, I won't have time to search for one. Thanks.
Thanks for the info. I never like to travel without a contact for a vet. You never know what might happen. Plus I always feel that if I am prepared, I won't need it. That is good in this case.
I had a super time meeting your family. It was great to talk about our 2 Corgi boys and let them have a chance to romp. They seemed to make a special bond and Wynne seemed to connect to Caden as well. Perhaps it was just that he looked so much like Will that attracted her. I like to think that they can recognize their family.
I had a fun day at the picnic, but seeing Caden was very special to me.
Will is celebrating tonight by going to our trainer's place. This happens to be Doggie Social Night out there. They do it twice a month. The trainer invites only the very social dogs to come. She sets up tunnels, jumps, and weave poles and we just play. I am bringing snacks since it is Will's birthday.
