Teddy was my first corgi and he was bluie tri and was born Nov. 27,2009, he died November 22. just a few days before his birthday :'( He was very kind and gentle. His favorite game was tug of war. He was always carrying his rope around to play lol. He was my little buddy.he loved kids and was in the middle of doing therapy before he passed. he really enjoyed making people happy.me and him had the strongest bond u could imagine and i felt truly blessed to have him in my life and miss him everyday. he truly left his mark on my heart. R.I.P i do have a new corgi now and his name is baden. he is fearless and crazy fun. he likes to get out and do things and be very active. he loves to be with people and play with other dogs at the dog park. at night he likes to lay on the couch with me so we can snuggle right before bed. he enjoys swimming just like how teddy did (R.I.P) which makes me smile every time. he is a good boy and will be your best friend the moment u meet him

Hi, glad you enjoyed them.  I haven't posted new photos and you have inspired me to do so.  Thank you.  I took a quick look at your page and you did a great job!  We are taking the dogs to visit "grandma" in San Francisco in a few weeks so there will be more photos of SF.

Thank you!!! It was a fantastic day! :o)

Hi, Rebecca!  I actually did pick Cocosette up one of those stuffed balls,  a stuffed tiger with squeakers in the feet, which she loves to attack, and a stuffed hedgehog that gets the same treatment, lol. All from Petco.  I put away the Dentastix and the Nylabones for down the line but I definitely need to get more things for her to chew on, things that will keep her busy.  She's getting nippy and those little teeth of hers smart.  Oh, and I got her a kong.  I'd appreciate any suggestions to help curb the nipping, my hands are getting sore!

I'm loving that pic of Teddy on the rock at the lake.  I own a pontoon and we spend pretty much every weekend on the water.  Teddy looks like a sweetheart. :o)

    Hi Rebecca & Teddy!
Hope all is going well for you both!
I'm sorry I haven't been around much! Please forgive me. I haven't been on My corgi for a very long time. It's been a rough first of the year for our family. We lost my step dad early in the year and  my sister lost her second dog to bone cancer so I'm playing catch up !  WE"RE BACK! So thank you for the messages that I was to sorry to answer! I am truly grateful for the birthday wishes so long ago and keeping me up on Teddy and the tug-a -jug! All the best Lori, Callie & Cooper

So sorry for you loss Rebecca!
  • Alison Prasavath

I've been thinking about you all day. I'm so sorry for your loss. Tears are flowing for you. This is now the second time I've heard of a corgi getting a plastic bad stuck on their head. I went through our trash and cut up any bag. Again, I'm so very sorry.

Thinking of you & your family at this time of loss... xoxo
  • Jeannie

Oh, Good Heavens!  You think I'm asking you that question!  No! No! No! That title is to myself, on why I'm jumping in to a person I've never met's business and feeling the nerve to offer advice!  I've never been compelled to write a blog before, but I was so moved and needed to reach out to you that I took the leap into the WEB.  (I mean, I don't even have a Facebook page...)  So perhaps my title should have been Why Am I Writing This.  Or Why I Feel the Need to Butt In.  Or maybe I've Been In A Similar Spot and Here's How I Got Through It.  It was in no way meant to question why you would write yours.  When we lost Audrey, I thought about having a shirt made; I got so annoyed with people telling me to have a nice day; could they not see that my heart had been ripped from chest?

And you are right about the hazards of plastic bags.  About 3 weeks after we got Gracie, she stuck her head in a steel frame meant to hold rolled-up technical drawings- sort of like a a wine bottle rack but made out of a 4" x 4" steel sqares.  My husband was drafting about 4 feet away from her and he turned to find her thrashing around. She'd stuck her pointed little head right in the hole, but when she tried to back out, she was stuck tight.  We had to get a bolt cutter to get her out.   Why did she stick her head in there in the first place?  Because it was a hole.  And Corgis are curious about everything.  And a bag is a portable hole.

I read somewhere that a dog's purpose is to catch all the surplus love in our hearts.  There's somebody out there waiting to catch yours. And that's why I wrote this. For you and for that somebody.

I lost my Corgi Annie way too young, also. It is always so awful losing a beloved Corgi and I honestly don't know which is harder. I know all too well that feeling of coming home and not having a precious 4-legged friend's greeting. I thank you so much for sharing your loss with us. I am now cutting every bag before putting it in the garbage. I hope that it helps in some way to know that you may have saved other pets by telling this story.

Rebecca, I've had Corgis my whole life & that's a long time. I have kids probably your age. Some have lived til 14, like Dylan; yet his best friend and litter mate, Emily, was killed by a careless groomer at 7. Almost immediately after Dylan died we got Lucy––best decision we ever made. The grief was too much. Jack witnessed our 2 1/2 yr old Annie get hit by a car in front of our house, for which he was filled with guilt. She was the girl "that never left his side" until that one day. I hope you guys do not feel guilt. It's clear how loved Teddy was and that you'd never do anything to put him in danger. All of our Corgis love to get into trash and bags that smell of FOOD. It was a freak accident. But, as I said earlier, one that will be remembered by all that read your story & save other lives. I started a group "Corgis Remembered" as a tribute to my Corgis over the years. Of course the early Corgis were before digital cameras, and I have yet to gather the energy and find really good photos and scan them. There are still untold stories. My heart goes out to you and I know that you have touched the hearts of so many members. Teddy brought great joy to all who saw his happy face and watched him grow up. I too imagine Teddy making friends with many fine Corgis, young and old at the rainbow bridge.

  • Napolean (Joan and Gabby)

We are so sorry for you and your husband's loss. I still remember just joining Mycorgi with Napolean and you were one of my first friends :) Tears are shed in remeberence of Teddy. He was a gorgous and loving corgi, and he still is. Though you cannot see him no corgi can ever leave one's heart. Even though you are grieving for him you should not grieve too long, for I can guess Teddy wants what is best for his companion, and that is to move on and enjoy life. We send our prayers to you and your husband. R.I.P ~Teddy~

  • Alison Prasavath

Just thinking about you. How are you doing? Noodles sends his corgi kisses and hugs to you and your husband.

  • Suzi, Zeus & Valentine

Hi Rebecca I just wanted to say I hope you are doing o.k.

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Don't worry. I didn't expect a response. I know how hard this time is for you and just wanted you to know that I'm here and have been through this. I'm glad you're thinking about another Corgi.

  • Keri&Merlin(Judy&Alan's Pups)

Thinkin about Your Family and sending corgi kisses :).Just saw You all are thinking about breeders in Your area.I know how quiet a house is without doogie tags clicking and those greetings at the front door!!Take care, and I hope all goes well with Your new search.

  • Jane Christensen

"You're welcome" Rebecca! How are you doing? Soooo sorry you have to go through this!

  • Alyssa & Chris W.

Rebecca, we are so so sorry about Teddy. I can't even imagine the pain you are going through and I want you to know it will get easier and he is right with you all the time. Please don't rush into getting another one though until your grieving is over. Just wait until you know you are both ready again. I know it will take some time, it's not easy losing your best friend. Lots of Corgi kisses sent your way.

  • Rebecca

I'm glad you had a wonderful Christmas and that you all could share wonderful memories of Teddy. I have to admit, reading your latest post about Dollar and your new little boy brought tears of joy to my eyes. I'm so happy for you and that you found two new little buddies. I can't wait to see pictures of them both. They both won't replace Teddy, but they sure will bring joy back in to your household.

  • Napolean (Joan and Gabby)

Congrats on the new puppy you guys! Dollar and your pup will be a great addition :) I'm sure his name will come to you. Scout is really cute too!

  • Alison Prasavath

It looks like Dollar is going to be a daddy's girl and nothing wrong with that. They are both so cute and I know Teddy would be so happy. He brought both of them in to your household.

Thank you for the friend's request, Rebecca.

  • Laura and Tommy Jefferson

Thanks for the well wishes for Tommy!!! :) Is Baden going to be a therapy dog like Teddy was? Tom is definitely too ornery for such an endeavor!

  • Laura and Tommy Jefferson

I understand completely! Tommy is always "forgetting" his training as well haha. I'm also considering agility ... i'd love to do herding but I can't find anywhere around here that offers it! Please keep us posted on Baden's activities! :)

  • Lois B. Allen

Baden is such a beautiful and happy boy.  Good luck.
