I don't like to see poorly docked tails. Gwynnie's perfect; I don't think she has a single tail vertebra. Al has but a tiny nub. It's such an invasive thing to do, and better not do it at all if you don't know what you're doing, so I'd say you made the right call! Do post some videos of those wagging tails.
