Living in a small town but hopefully will be moving to Arizona in the future (thinking Sedona). I had gone to Arizona Canine Academy in Sierra Vista, AZ in the year 2000 to become a dog trainer but it didn't really take off here, despite lack of trainers so I've been seriously out of practice. I am currently working at a meat processing plant (Tyson) but have just enrolled in Penn Foster, an online school, for Small Business Management because I'm hoping to open a pet store. I'm sure that will at least go well here considering the nearest real pet store is 45 miles away.
I used to breed Pembroke Welsh Corgis years ago, I had a male and female that had two litters. I was going to breed her a third and final time to a UKC champion but it fell through and they both retired at the age of 4 (I think, female might have been 5).
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
I got Shippo about three months after my female (red and white named Chansey) passed away at 12 years of age. To be honest I wasn't going to get another Corgi, I had my mind set on a Swedish Vallhund, but they're not very common and with no dogs, I was getting very impatient. I happened upon an ad for 7 week old Corgi pups so I went to look and put a payment on the only male in the litter and brought him home a week later.
He is a bit different than what I've experienced before and now that he's grown some (he is two years old), I can say that he definitely does not have the correct temperament for his breed. He came from a BYB and will be the last one I ever own (unless I rescue one). All I can say is that he's lucky he has me for an owner and not someone who would have abused him or dumped him in a shelter because of how he is. I love the dog sometimes he makes me wonder.
Gidget was born on August 24, 2012 and I had her picked out before her eyes were open. I don't consider that to be an ideal way to place puppies but I don't judge anyone who does it and she ended up being a perfect match for me. I bought her as a show prospect and possibly for breeding later on, if she checks out in all areas (conformation, temperament and health) and so far, she seems to. Luck hasn't been on my side in regards to getting her out to the shows but it will come. She is very gentle and sweet, except when it comes to Shippo sometimes, then she can be downright nasty. But he does deserve it sometimes and I think he irks her off on purpose. She actually is almost exactly like Chansey which is why I believe she was a perfect match.
Sheldon was kind of an impulse. He was born on January 4th, 2013 but I didn't know about him until sometime later when I happened to look on a breeder's site that I've been watching (I did actually fill out her questionnaire but I found Gidget before she had any puppies available) and saw she had some that were available and they were sable. Now this is the reason why I say Sheldon was an impulse. I wasn't planning on getting another so soon (Gidget was only going to be 6 months old at the time they would be ready to go to their new homes) but I wanted a sable for years and I didn't know how long it would be before I could have a chance at getting one. It took me a week to decide to contact his breeder and by the time I did, Sheldon (she called him Trevor) was the only one left of the three that were available. So after a couple more days of mulling it over and talking to the breeder, I decided to go ahead and get him. He was also purchased as a show/breeding prospect so we will see how things go. He's going through an awkward teenage phase so I'm going to work on Gidget first. I don't think I can show two dogs at the same time anyway :) Sheldon is a cuddler but he's also a rambunctious little bugger. He also doesn't bark, he screeches. I think his mother was actually a banshee, not a Corgi.
