About Me:
I have 2 Pembrooke Welsh Corgis. Lucy is 4 & came from a breeder in Sandusky, MI. Merlin (my little boy!) is just 1 & was a rescue who I found on Petfinder. He was taken from a puppymill breeder in Iowa who was shut down & sent to a rescue group in S IL & fostered to a woman in WI. Last summer when I found him, Lucy & I drove to WI to get him. He was so pitiful (his picture is enough to make you cry). But, you should see him now! He's the sweetest, most loving , charming boy I've ever met! Everyone adores him (except Lucy, who probably does but doesn't want to admit it. I am retired, so I spend a lot of time with my dogs. (Merlin is scheduled to take his AKC Good Citizen test tomorrow night.(Wish him luck; he needs it!) I would love to get together with any other Corgi owners in my area (Northern suburbs of Detroit. We love to go bye-bye in the car, so travel is no problem. I am a retired teacher & so have time to do really fun stuff. I am single and have 2 grown children who are on their own. I have a large yard with lots of room for the dogs to romp & play.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Actually, I wrote about my Corgis in the About Me. I would like to add that I am a devoted Corgi lover who never ceases to be amazed at their antics, intelligence & devotion. I also think that there is an instant bond that is apparant when 2 Corgi owners meet.
I have:

    I also think Our 2 Merlins are alot alike.They just started Their lives totally different,but both ended up with people Who love them!!Our girl is also the alpha/boss of the house.We found a wonderful breeder up in Oregon about 5 months after We lost 2 geriatric pups within a month of each other.She had a 4 month old little girl,who she had already taken to a couple of puppy matches,but her legs were just too short for the standards!!But great for Us!!Keri was already doggydoor ,potty trained and leash trained.We drove up,fell in love and took Her home.We have always felt 2 dogs are happier together,so 6 months later,We contacted the breeder again.Well,back up to Oregon with Keri tagging along :).She helped Us pick out Merlin!!We needed a passive/sweet male to go with Her alpha spirit.He couldn't be sweeter.They both love to travel like Yours,so RVing with them is a blast!!We're taking off tomorrow for a 3-day trip to the local beach.BTW,do You happen to have Bev Levy there in Michigan as a corgi pal??She's a great corgi Mom too!!

    Hey Claire, I think Judy let you know that I would like to respond to your question regarding RV travel, being a single woman and on the road with your corgis.  I only started RVing seriously in 2010, when I bought my motorhome.  Many years prior to that I had borrowed one from my BIL at the time and took it on an all girls camp trip.  From there I knew that some day I would like to have one of my own.  I'm 63, single now, and travel 4-5 months out of the year.  I travel alone but generally with a destination of meeting some like minded travelers, i.e. owners of the same type of RV (every make has them) and recently a group called RV Women which has chapters all over the county.  Enroute, I look for interesting places or locations I would like to stop.  The get together may only be for 3 or 4 days but I will make a minimum of a week out of that.  Last year I attended a dog camp with Timmy for 3 days, then met up with the Pacific Northwest group of corgi owners for 6 days at Grayland Beach inWashington, then went to an RV get together in Oregon.  I was gone for a month total.

    Moral of my novel (LOL)  I find the nicest people in an RV park or campground, I've never felt uncomfortable or alone, but I do enjoy my own company and that of my dog so I'm never lonely.

    If you have any questions please feel free to ask me, I'll friend you and that way you can send a message privately.

    By the way, there is a great "dog camp" in the Chicago area, called Campdogwood, I've though about it, but that's a long way to go.  Good luck and happy traveling now that you're retired.
