Our vet has told us multiple times it is just normal tearing (cleansing of the eyes, and sometimes they can become a little irritated), and he doesn't do it often, but he does whenever he is being…Continue

Where has the time gone, my sweet baby boy?
Seems like just yesterday I hung up the phone with the breeder, my eyes wide and my heart filled with joy as the reality sank in that I had just purchased a puppy.
Seems like just yesterday eight weeks couldn't move more slowly, but now I look back and am amazed at how fast one year flew right by our eyes.
Seems…

Cassie, Camden, and Oaklie said… No kidding! I had Camden boarded in June (in May he had an eye infection, so my mother was kind enough to puppy sit), and it was so weird being in my apartment with no dog. Though he apparently handled boarding well. The tech who took him to his kennel while I was finishing paperwork commented on how nice it was that he wasn't scared at all; he described him as, "walking back there like he owned the place."
Is Ollie accident prone? Camden managed to chip his tibia in June, though I haven't the faintest idea how. He's doing much better now, but with the injury combined with this awful heat meant I couldn't take him to the park much, and his vet warned me not to let him get heavier (especially with the injury). Poor boy had to be put on a diet (aka reduce the amount of food given). Good news is that he's a pound less than when he hurt himself, a nice 29 lbs.
Also, you were right, the chewing is starting to die down. In particular, Camden had a very bad habit of getting excited and putting his mouth on a person's arm. He never bit down, but it was a concern. Without even noticing initially, he's stopped. Talk about a relief.
Cassie, Camden, and Oaklie said… Oh thank goodness. Only 6 more months, lol. I admit that his chewing problem has definitely made me a cleaner person.
I saw that you had a stake in Ollie before he was even born. Poor Camden was the only unclaimed pup from a six week old litter. My mother & I drove to Sally's place to make sure it wasn't a puppy mill and to meet puppy P6 (his designation at the time) and see if he would be a good fit.
We felt better about the whole thing the minute we pulled up. The whole crew (Ted, Maggie, Izzi, etc- minus Miss Polly) ran to the door of the car to visit my mother. She couldn't get out, lol. And then in the puppy pen, P6 (aka Camden) was the only pup passed out- he was a tad grumpy that I had woken him up. Ted is a ham, by the way. I was petting Maggie & Izzi (I was squatting with one on each leg) when Ted ran over, and knocked both of them off. He was belly down on both of my legs like, "Hello. It's my turn now." Camden is a lot like his dad. I never met Polly. Apparently, the whole crew had a run in with a beaver one night. Polly was the only one to get bit & scratched. She was fine, but was recovering with stitches in the whelping barn with a/c when I visited.
I love my boy. I've been going through withdrawals the last few days as I am visiting a friend in the city, so my mother has been puppy sitting. As much fun as I've been having, I miss my pup.
If you ever happen to be in central Illinois with Ollie, feel free to stop by and say hello!
Cassie, Camden, and Oaklie said… Camden is very social; he loves everybody (except cats- my mother's cat scared him and now he avoids cats if he can). However, his favorite game is keep-away rather than fetch, and he is a chewer. He can't have any stuffed toys or a bed because he destroys them and tries to eat the leftovers. His trainer told me that Camden was one of the most stubborn and naturally dominant corgi puppies he had ever worked with. He really does like getting his way.
Cassie, Camden, and Oaklie said… Yup- Camden is from the litter a year after Oliver (May 26th, 2011). And yes, Ted and Polly are his parents.
