Be Honest: How Much Exercise Does Your Corgi Get?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Alison Prasavath Jul 26, 2012. 43 Replies

I'm curious what the exercise regime for your corgi(s) is on the average day? Leash walking? Off-leash walking? Fetch? Laser? Tug? Playmates? Has it changed as they've aged? How do they act if you…Continue

Submissive Behaviour - Suggestions?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Donald Till Dec 13, 2010. 5 Replies

Casey is a 15 month old Cardi who is very friendly and outgoing, but displays extremely submissive behaviours when greeting other dogs. It's sort of a weird combination: she absolutely loves to play…Continue

Doesn't Like the Basement

Started this discussion. Last reply by Sam Tsang Jul 15, 2010. 8 Replies

I'm looking for some advice on a basement problem we have. We live in a two-story house with a finished (carpeted) basement. Casey is allowed on the mainfloor and in the basement, but not upstairs.…Continue

How Does Your Dog Greet People At the Door?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Edward and Gemima Jul 6, 2010. 5 Replies

Casey basically throws herself at anyone who comes into the house, and then circles around and around their feet while licking their feet/legs/shoes/whatever she can get. She's a shameless attention…Continue

About My Corgi(s):
Casey, AKA "Fat Bean" or "Bean-o" was born July, 2009. She has two primary objectives in life: (1) Eating; (2) Playing. Everything else is just filler, time spent waiting around for food or play.

She is simultaneously submissive and outgoing, a combination I didn't know was possible until I met her. She runs up to every dog or person she meets to greet them and see if they'll play, but if they give her any guff what-so-ever, she immediately submits. All is forgiven in less than 3 seconds and she's back up and trying to play again. She’s a lover, not a fighter.

She loves everyone and will play with any person or dog willing to give her the time of day. I’ve never seen her meet a dog she didn’t like (although I’ve seen her meet many dogs who didn’t like her). She makes her own fun by running in furious circles around any dog who ignores her, and despite having to “greet” everyone she meets, she’ll never stop somewhere for long enough to get petted before moving on to greet the next person or see the next dog. She is the happiest, friendliest dog anyone could ask for.

Discussion Updates

Posted on December 21, 2010 at 5:30pm 2 Comments

I've started a number of discussion, asking a number of questions over the last year or so that I've been on MyCorgi. I just wanted to say thanks to those of you who offered me advice or suggestions, and provide a bit of an update on some of our progress.

1) "Puppy Running in Front/Cutting Me Off" - She steers clear of my feet since I took everyone's advice and starting kicking her if she got in my way. Now she hustles out of my way if she sees me coming, lol. She still gets…

What the Heck, Edmonton?

Overnight low of -31 Celsius/-24 Fahrenheit (without the windchill!)?!?!?! Tomorrows daytime HIGH is -18 (-1 Fahrenheit). What kind of high is that?

This is some January/February weather, sure, but not November. I guess mother nature decided that because we had such a crappy summer, she needed to kick-start winter into high…

Winter's Finally Arrived on the Prairies

Posted on November 14, 2010 at 11:48pm 3 Comments

Well, we held out as long as we could. Forecast for the upcoming week is snow and lows of -10 Celsius (that's about 14 Fahrenheit) with overnight lows of -20 (-4 Fahrenheit) with the wind chill. Winter’s a-coming.

My fall jackets got moved to the basement this weekend, and my snowpants came out of the closet.…
