Lincoln, NE
About Me:
I have owned (?) Corgis for 20 years. I also have an Abyssinian cat. I am an artist (kilnformed glass) and a landlord, an avid (flower/container) gardener, walker, "do-it-your self-er". I always have more ideas and projects than I can possibly get done.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Murray (born late 2007)is a red and white Corgi with huge ears. We have been taking agility classes since last summer. He loves it and is fast and enthusiastic, but sometimes decides he would rather make up his own course. If it's a game, he loves it...obedience, not so much. He's a 33 pound "lap Corgi" who will climb into any available lap. We go to the dog run frequently and he especially likes playing with and "herding" bigger dogs. Swimming, slides, keep away, snow, and massages are some of his favorite things. I could go on.......he makes me laugh every day. Since I wrote this we started competing in agility which we both love...very fun!

Re homing Corgis

Posted on May 13, 2015 at 12:39am 14 Comments

I have the sad task of finding a home for 2 Corgis belonging to a dear friend.  I have a couple good leads thanks to the Lincoln (NE) Corgi Group.  It is a daunting task trying to make sure I do the right thing by them. I have no experience re homing pets so any experience any of you can share would be much appreciated.  I have lined up a good home for my baby should something happen to me, but Sandy hasn't...and she won't be coming home from the hospital this time.  Her daughter asked for…

Great dog loving friends to the rescue

Posted on January 15, 2015 at 12:10am 5 Comments

My ( grown) son's Corgi got hit by a car Sunday. He will survive but his leg is in bad shape and there a possibility he could lose it or be very lame...time will tell.  I'm posting this to reaffirm how great dog people are.  I posted on Facebook that we were looking to borrow an XL wire crate or X-pen to put him in as he gets more active....he is in a splint so our crates are not large enough.  Within probably 20 minutes I had offers from friends of 3 x-pens and a crate!  We compete in…

My solution for Corgi who hates being combed

Posted on February 19, 2014 at 1:08am 5 Comments

Murray HATES being combed and sheds the most of any Corgi we've had.  Even with lots of treats and threats it was a chore that I didn't do nearly often enough ( if there is such a thing with a Corgi ).  About a month ago a light bulb went off. I started with a relatively well groomed Corgi and now keep his comb on the counter right by where I feed him. Before each meal I run the comb through him for maybe 30-60 seconds and then give him his food.  He quickly figured out that he has to hold…

Thanks, Judith! I see you're in Lincoln. I lived there for 18 years before moving to Omaha. It's great to hear from another corgi lover in Nebraska! Thank you for the welcome!

His scores were 179, 179, and 181.  If he had sat even once during our last trial, he could have gotten first! But, he got bored...  We've taken 21 weeks of classes for Agility.  I left the area and couldn't find a new trainer I liked.  We'd probably only compete in Jumpers if we ever do compete in agility.  Rally looks ridiculously easy, but also REALLY FUN, so we might do that while we train for Open obedience. :D

Hi Judith! Remember me from Urban trail gardens.  I finally got another Corgi.  I was without for 3 1/2 months and couldn't go any longer. Zander in now almost 12 weeks old.  We picked him up at 8 weeks.  My house seems like a home again.
