Wow has it been a long time since I have been on here. The motherboard to my computer decided to go out and I have been without a computer now for 3 weeks. Thank goodness it happened after finals!!! I have been going to the local coffee shop or my friends house to help keep up with bills but just haven't had the time to get on here. What a mess. I hopefully will get my computer back sometime this week. With that said hope everyone has been doing great!<br />

I finally got my big dog. My hubby and I decided or I should say compromised on a Lab. He is absolutely beautiful. He is blonde with hazel eyes that change color throughout the day. We named him Duke and he is huge. He is 40lbs at 3 months. I had him on Blue Buffalo food along with my corgi and JRT. However we have been having strange poo issues and I am wondering if anyone else has had any problems. My Lab cannot stomach the Blue food so I had to put him on Wellness......and at the time that we got Duke, Maggie Mae started having troubles with the Blue food. Her poo turned solid white and was dry and powdery. It got to the point she couldn't go to the bathroom because it was so dry. I started wondering if she was eating something weird when she was outside or if the neighbors had fed her something strange. So I followed her extensively in the backyard and couldn't come up with anything. Finally after 2 days of this weird problem and seeing that my JRT Bailey was having the same issue I decided to call the vet and they wanted to see them. There was nothing wrong with them and they told me to get them off the food immediately. However the vet couldn't give me a reason as to why the food may be doing this. He was baffeled but it was the only thing that we could think of that was causing the problem. So I put them back on Wellness and the issue has cleared up completely. I tried calling the company but after a week of calling and emailing everyday.......I have yet to get any response out of them. That really scares me to think that this company doesn't even care. So I am thankful that the issue has been resolved with something as simple as a food change and nothing was seriously wrong. Its getting to the point now that I don't trust any of the dog food out there and am starting to think I should just cook their food. I have been searching for a pet nutritionist but they are very hard to find. I have to say though that with all the research I have done on dog food.....it got me an A on a 20 page research paper for a graduate advertising class and a job teaching the unit on the ethics of advertising and the pet food industry for that class. Anyway if any of you have had this trouble with the Blue Buffalo food please let me know. I feel very alone with this problem.Dog charmtag:mycorgi.com,2009-05-01:1150197:BlogPost:4044932009-05-01T17:50:15.000ZAmyhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/Amy32
Thought I would share this website with you all. I am always looking for unusual dog things and this is pretty cool. You send in a photo of your dog and they make a charm for you that you can wear on a necklace, bracelet or put on a keychain. Its expensive but would make a great gift.<br />

Some of you commented on my last post about if any of you have noticed any changes with Wellness food. This company is so awesome I just have to say that first of all. I called them and they told me that they have not had any formulation changes at all and don't plan to in the future. They are very satisified with their product and know that there is no room for change. Great to know. They are very satisified with their product and know that there is no room for change. Great to know. They also told me that since their food is all natural that the flavor, odor, and color will be different from batch to batch because they don't put any binders in the food to keep it uniformed looking, smelling, etc. Great to know too. So that is why this bag of food I bought smells a litte different. They checked the code on the bottom and was able to tell me when it was made and let me tell you its probably the freshest dog food I have ever bought. Just for calling in with my questions they are sending me free samples....again......and coupons. I don't know of any company that does this. So I would say Wellness is an awesome company. Just wanted to update you all and thank you for taking the time out and responding to my post!Everyone out there that feeds their dog Wellnesstag:mycorgi.com,2009-05-01:1150197:BlogPost:4039502009-05-01T02:33:23.000ZAmyhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/Amy32
I have been feeding Maggie Wellness since day one. I buy it in 15lb bags and I have noticed that the last 2 bags I have purchased smell different. Maggie won't eat it either. She just turns her nose up at it and walks away. I am now trying her on Blue Buffalo but she will only eat the black pieces. So she doesn't really like it either. I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed it. I am calling the company tomorrow to find out if there has been any changes with the food.

Well my life has just been turned upside down recently. Due to the economic down turn my husband was displaced from his job here in Fort Worth as a conductor (he works for Union Pacific) and was sent to West Texas. The transisition has been so difficult for me. He came home for the first time this week. It had been a month since I had seen him. He was able to stay a couple of days and then off he went. Thank goodness I have my Maggie and Kids of course.<br />

Maggie is now 9 months old and what a personailty she is. There isn't a time through the day when she doesn't make me laugh. The new thing she has started is frapping to the sound of hands beating on the floor. My 21 month old will beat his hands on the floor and off she goes. She will bark when she turns and we all just laugh. The other thing is that she has adopted one of my son's favorite stuffed animals. No matter where Ryan hides his lion she will find it. It is so funny. He finally just gave up and let her have it. She carries it around like its her baby LOL The one thing though that she is doing has really made me look at life and my situation so differently. I have the most beautiful roses bushes in the backyard. They are in full bloom right now and everytime Maggie goes outside she runs over to them and smells the roses. It is so funny because I have never seen a dog smell a flower, normally they eat them. She has taught me a lesson that is for sure..........that I need to stop and smell the roses a lot more than I do.<br />
I am trying to get a picture of her sniffing the roses but she is a camera hound and every time I get the camera out its like she starts posing. I just can't be sneaky enough.<br />

Now that she is getting closer to a year I am starting the ever so difficult task of finding an adult food for her. She is on Wellness right now and I love it and so does she but I can tell she is getting "tired" of it. Just like me when I start eating salad all the time....you just get tired of it. The great thing though is that I emailed the Wellness asking if they had sample bags of the adult food flavors I could buy to try them out on Maggie. Instead they sent me a 1lb bag of all their dry dog food flavors. How cool is that!! Kudos to Wellness for keeping customers happy.<br />

Well off to see what the bunny butt is getting into. jVomiting.....HELP please!tag:mycorgi.com,2009-04-12:1150197:BlogPost:3860252009-04-12T03:47:03.000ZAmyhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/Amy32
Well tonight has been weird. I was on the computer playing my ever so favorite Word Whomp and was startled by some strange sounds in the house. All the kids were asleep due to the Easter Bunny coming so I thought one of the kids had gotten up. To my horror my beloved Maggie was throwing up everywhere. I noticed huge chunks of the Nylabone (the one for chewers) I had taken away from her because she devoured half of it in 5 minutes (she is a major chewer) mixed in with her food . I cleaned up the…

I cleaned up the 8 piles of vomit to turn around to her having diarrhea. I am really starting to freak out. I checked the Easter candy and she did not get into it. The only thing I can think of that made her sick is the Nylabone. I can't seem to find chews for her. She chews everything to shreds. I would have never thought she would chew up a non edible for chewers nylabone. I am shocked. She is resting right now but I am freaking out that she will get sick again. She does not have a fever and I am giving her ice to hydrate her. Anyone else ever have this problem??? Can dogs get the "flu"???? Please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated I am so worried.Grain free diet vs traditional diettag:mycorgi.com,2009-03-13:1150197:BlogPost:3487262009-03-13T13:16:55.000ZAmyhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/Amy32
Ok I know this is another feeding question and there are a ton of them on this board but I am really getting confused. My Maggie will be switching to adult food soon and I have been researching the benefits of a grain free diet. There is not that much information out there to support it and what I did find was really interesting. One study I found was not in favor of a grain free diet due to the fact that grains such as rice, oats, and barley when digested turn into tryptophine which in turn…

My Maggie will be switching to adult food soon and I have been researching the benefits of a grain free diet. There is not that much information out there to support it and what I did find was really interesting. One study I found was not in favor of a grain free diet due to the fact that grains such as rice, oats, and barley when digested turn into tryptophine which in turn produces seritonin in the body and helps regulate hormone levels. It "says" that dogs on grain free diets have more hormonal problems which can create hyperactivity, depression, agression, ect due to decreased seritonin levels. I guess my question is for those out there on the grain free diet, do you have any of those issues with your dogs? I just don't know if I want to switch my Maggie to grain free or not. She is on Wellness Just for Puppy and loves it. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.Concerntag:mycorgi.com,2009-03-01:1150197:BlogPost:3357002009-03-01T02:11:09.000ZAmyhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/Amy32
I had my Maggie spayed yesterday (friday) and I am really concerned about it. First her incision is over 2 inches long. All the other dogs I have had, including my last corgi, their incisions were never over 1 inch in length. Secondly, they shaved half her body. She looks like a chinese crested which I am extremely upset about. I know that they needed to shave her but not as much as they did. She is in so much pain and can barely walk. She keeps looking at me with a look like what did you do to me mommy. I feel absolutely terrible. She just isn't herself. I know that it will take a couple of days for her to recover but with her incision as big as it is, its making me wonder what else they did to her. When I look into her eyes its like a part of her is gone and she will never be the same. Has anyone out there had any personality changes with the neutering of your dog?? I just don't know what to do. I have cried all day today thinking I made a mistake. My husband wanted to get another corgi and breed them and I said I would get another corgi but not have the puppies because we have so much on our plates right now. I am wishing I had listened to him for once.<br />
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! My Maggietag:mycorgi.com,2009-02-27:1150197:BlogPost:3337472009-02-27T04:15:24.000ZAmyhttp://mycorgi.com/profile/Amy32
Wow hard to believe that I have had Maggie for almost 4 months now. She has gotten so big I can't believe it. She has finally gotten her potting down and has become the queen of our house. I have to tell you I, keep her busy. I take her for a mile walk twice a day and she crashes at night. I really want to get her into agility training but have yet to find a facility close to me.<br />

Tomorrow she is getting spayed. I am nervous, I don't know why because I have gone through this before. I know its for the best. After alot of consideration I decided not to breed her. I just have too much going on in my life to deal with puppies. Plus I could never give them away and I don't need 7 dogs with 7 kids running around. How crazy that would be.<br />
I have also decided to get her microchiped. If she ever gets lost she should be found because she is registered with the city, has a tag with her vets number on it, a tag with my name and number, an AKC tag, and now a new tag with her microchip information. My husband said that if she ever gets lost and we don't hear from anyone it means one of 2 things, she is not of this earth or someone decided to keep her.<br />
My little furry friend has been the best thing that has happened to me lately. Can't imagine how we all got along without her. She gives so much to our family with nothing ever expected in return. She is such a loyal friend.
