I'm not sure what's up with poor KC, but every time after she eats, she licks her paws like crazy and her eyes get red. We have her on a nice kibble that is free of chicken and corn and all that other weird by-product stuff, but she's still licking her mittens. She burps a lot too after eating, but I think that's just because she has bad manners. Any suggestions? (For the itchiness, not the burping.)

I'm sorry it's not Corgi-related, but I need help! :S The more advice, the better, right?

Our 5ish-year-old female calico cat, whom we adopted from a shelter almost 4 years ago, is very spiteful. You may say cats don't understand spite, but you are wrong. She's very clever.
Our 5ish-year-old female calico cat, whom we adopted from a shelter almost 4 years ago, is very spiteful. You may say cats don't understand spite, but you are wrong. She's very clever. She likes to pee on my stuff (blankets, couches, shirts left on the floor, etc) when she's angry. We've tolerated it because she was a shelter cat and didn't want to send her back. I've always had the attitude of "someone has to love her!" so that's why she's still around. She was declawed when we adopted her, so she is strictly indoors only, which I know for a fact doesn't make a difference in cat behavior. I grew up with 2 declawed indoor-only cats that didn't pee on stuff, so don't even go there. I repeat: Don't even go there. Besides, it's not like we can re-claw her, so don't be silly.

She peed on stuff when she was the only pet, she peed on stuff when we adopted a little kitty brother for her, she peed on stuff when we adopted our Corgi KC, and she continues to pee on stuff about once every other week. Sometimes longer periods if she's feeling forgiving. We have 2 litter boxes, a sort of His and Her thing, which are scooped every other night. It's not a UTI either. Quite simply, it is a behavior issue.

Things she had ruined with her pee problem: A papasan chair. A $200 cute little couch from Target. 2 living room couches. A king sized comforter (put into the washer, ripped in the washer, put into the dryer, BURNED in the dryer). A mattress pad. Luckily clothes can be washed easier.

Feel free to throw some ideas at me. I don't want to get rid of her, because she is family, even though I hate her for being such a b*tch, she's family. But I am getting sick of cleaning every single one of my bed's blankets every time she decides to unload her bladder on me. She's on her last life!

Thanks for your help in advance. I'm half-temped to just take her to the pound and ask to trade her in for a nicer model.
12/02/09 night nighttag:mycorgi.com,2009-12-03:1150197:BlogPost:5702902009-12-03T14:03:31.000ZKristin Phttp://mycorgi.com/profile/KristinP

The other day, my husband and I were trying to train KC to "Help me!". So Brian wrestled me to the ground while I yelled "KC help!" (through my stifled giggles). She just sat there and silently watched. I was hoping that she'd at least run around and bark at Brian to let me go. Good to know that if I ever get attacked by someone, KC will be a good witness.
Now my husband is away for a few days, which makes me uneasy being by myself at night. It doesn't help that KC keeps looking into dark rooms like she's looking at something/someone. Freaking me out! I'll look down at her and whisper "What is it KC??" aaaand Nothing. She might just be looking for Brian to pop out of somewhere, but still. It's not very reassuring to me. If someone broke in, she'd probably run over, say hi and request tummy rubs.what color is KC?tag:mycorgi.com,2009-10-12:1150197:BlogPost:5392402009-10-12T20:38:06.000ZKristin Phttp://mycorgi.com/profile/KristinP
Okay, this will probably seem like a dumb question to most of you, but what color is my corgi? I think she is a sable, but I could be wrong. She's mostly red but her back has a distinctive saddle that's darker, like the tips of her fur are black. Hopefully you can tell by my picture (more on my page of course)... Just wanted to double-check. :)
Much to my dismay, KC has begun having issues with her water bowl. The first bowl was a big plastic container, but she ate that. She ate the second one too. So lately I've been using a large glass bowl, but she's decided that makes a much better swimming pool than a drinking bowl. I've caught her so many times sticking her paw in the water and splashing around! Fun for her, annoying for me to clean up (okay, it's adorable!). I found this cute site that specializes in Corgi clothes. http://www.corgiclothes.com/
I have already found that KC's chesty shape makes it hard for some clothes to stay on.
The "Snooty Bitch" screenprint tshirt is my favorite! But I think $20 is a little more than I want to spend on doggy clothes right now. ;)

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why KC is suddenly peeing on the carpet? It's not a lot of pee, just a little puddle, and I know we take her outside to potty frequently enough. She's done it 3 times so far (twice at my husband's grandma's house and once just now at our house) but we never see her do it. We've had her since August 15th, and these 3 accidents have happened since this last weekend. (She's 2 years old FYI.) I think she knows she did something bad, because when my husband…

(He didn't spank her, just made an angry noise of discovery, then put her outside.) Thoughts?

UPDATE: KC is fine, no UTIs or bladder stones, etc. The vet said it's probably just something hormonal related to her spay last month. He said sometimes they just let a little pee out without even realizing it. He gave her some urinary inconsistancy pills. She's had no problems since the last time, so she's fine. :)eat your dinnertag:mycorgi.com,2009-08-20:1150197:BlogPost:5016582009-08-20T13:51:46.000ZKristin Phttp://mycorgi.com/profile/KristinP
KC is still pretty new to us, but she hasn't been eating as much as I'd like her to.
For one thing, whenever I put her food bowl down after filling it, both of our cats run over to inspect & try to steal. I have to intervene and literally guard her bowl from them! I'll stand nearby for a minute or two shooing the little thieves away until they skulk to a safe distance. Last night I caught my boy Walker eating her food while KC sat pouting nearby. Not only that, but KC will only eat if I stand right next to her. Sometimes I try to take sneaky baby steps away, which works, until she looks up and sees that Mommy is now in the living room instead of guarding her. She won't eat her breakfast, and generally only eats dinner when I'm guarding. Kind of annoying when I'm trying to cook my own dinner. Any suggestions? I love that she's sweet but she definitely needs to toughen up a bit.
We're taking KC's spay stitches out tonight! Well, hopefully my husband will do it while I hold & soothe her. I get queasy with medical stuff. (Our vet said we can do it ourselves.) The stitches look great right now, so there shouldn't be any problems.
If her tummy still looks great this weekend, we're going to buy a life jacket and take her to the river! Should be fun! I've been looking around for doggy life jackets, and Walmart's are only $14.74 for her size. Petsmart's life jacket costs…

I've been looking around for doggy life jackets, and Walmart's are only $14.74 for her size. Petsmart's life jacket costs $19.99. I love Petsmart for the fact that I can bring her inside with me, but everything always costs more. :( Oh well, I'm just excited to see how she does in the water. Fingers crossed! <3

UPDATE!!
We were able to get KC's stitches out just fine, once the little wiggle-worm stopped squirming! Unfortunately roles were reversed and I had to suck it up and cut her stitches myself. (Yuck, made my stomach a little squidgy.) My husband was a little more firm about keeping her from moving around so much. So once he had her pinned down and still managed to give her loving chest pets with his pinky finger, I went in and carefully snipped both stitches. Then I popped back up and told him that HE needs to floss the thread out himself because THAT I won't do! Luckily there was no blood or any yips of pain from my girl. So tough! Then we wiped it clean with peroxide and sent her on her way!
Now time to get that lifejacket and see how she likes the river...
I just adopted my Corgi from a wonderful rescue woman in Graham, TX on Saturday. I had to drive 4 hours there to pick KC up, but it was so worth it! The drive home was pleasant too. Once KC calmed down a bit, she snuggled into the passenger seat on her new blankie and enjoyed the ride. She has the sweetest disposition too. I've never met such a cuddly loving girl before! She hasn't barked, whined, or had a single accident yet either.
She's about 2 years old and could definitely use some help training. She knows "sit" but never listens the first time I say it. I know to say commands firmly, not like a question. Doesn't really help though. She is starting to learn "no" also. But sometimes when I tell her "no" in a firm (never angry or shouting) tone, for example when she tries to jump on the furniture, she runs to her kennel like she's in trouble! I don't want her to think her kennel is a bad place or a place of punishment! So I make sure to summon her out and cuddle her more. She understands when I say "bed" and snap my fingers in the direction of her kennel. However she doesn't stay, doesn't fetch, or really know her name (her previous name was Kassie, so it's not that different than KC). She is very submissive also. She rolls over and shows her belly at the drop of a hat. She loves belly rubs, but I don't want her to think she's in trouble all the time.
She has already snapped at a tiny chihuahua at a park who was just standing (cowering) nearby, and last night snapped at my beloved cat Walker. So far she shows indifference and respect to our two cats, however Walker did try to sniff her face head-on when she was about to eat so I understand why it upset her. But I don't want her to have any food aggression. She has only had one other dog-to-dog experience since I've had her, with another little dog about her size. They were both leashed and sniffing each other's noses, but her ears were back like she was unhappy even though her tail nub was wagging. I was praising her with "good girl" while they were meeting, but neither tried to further sniff or befriend the other. Seems like there should have been some butt-sniffing going on.
She is getting better about walking on a leash, but still walks around like she's drunk. She weaves from one side of me to the other and sometimes I have to stumble on myself so I don't step on her. I just want her to politely walk next to me and quit tugging on her leash so excitedly. While on walks, sometimes I try and stop completely so she'll understand that we'll walk when I say so. But then she'll go right back to tugging on her leash and pulling me along behind her.
Also, is it normal for Corgis not to want to play with toys? I bought a few for her, but she shows no interest!
Any bits of advice would be greatly appreciated, I want to be a great Corgi mommy!
