Getting Over a Loss with a Gain

After my best bud Murphy passed away, I knew I could not go on in life without a dog.  I explored all options of other breeds, but I knew my rightful place was with a corgi.  Anytime I'd see another dog, I'd think "I bet he won't be as cute as a corgi, or as smart as a corgi."  Anytime I'd see someone walking a puppy, I thought, "corgis are just better".  I decided I had to…

Joshua Update

Wow, I haven't posted here in my blog for a long time!

Joshua is doing well. His leg healed nicely from his injury in the Spring of 2009. The only reminder of it is when he runs down the stairs in our house - he runs down on just 3 legs still! But other than that he seems to use that injured leg normally and doesn't ever seem to be in any pain. He's also been maintaining a healthy weight (especially for a corgi) - he's about 36-37 lbs. which is perfect for a male Cardigan. In…

It's my birthday, gonna party like it's my birthday!

So today is my birthday(why yes, Harry Houdini and I share a birthday, jealous? We also share it with Clyde Barrow, double jealous?). Yesterday my angora breeder let me know her doe had kits, so in a couple weeks we'll be bringing an adorable baby bunny to our new house.

The new house is big, beautiful, and has a big fenced backyard, and allows dogs! I'm so excited. Once again the epic quest for a Pacific Northwest corgi begins.

I've emailed a couple breeders I was talking to years… Continue

Questions about Corgi Rescue Groups??

Hi Everyone,

As you know, I am searching for a male Corgi as my MaGuire went over the Bridge the end of December. This month, I was offered a male, 3 year old Tri colored Corgi about 4 hours from my area. The gal identified herself as “Corgi Rescue Foster Home” and said she…

THANKS

I just want to say THANKS to everyone here.  I have not met a single soul here but I feel like I know each and everyone of you because of something we share in common.  I know that somewhere in the world that someone has something in common with me and that is my love for my Corgis.  No matter what shape, size or color they all have the same heart. In a world full of strife and turbulance its good to know that something stays constant.  Thanks Again.

OMG Solomon

Well, I guess ya'll gotta know what Solomon did to me this past Saturday.  First let me explain, there has been a cat from a nearby neighborhood that we believe belongs to someone else, because he is so friendly, but he is a thorn under Solomon's saddle!  I took Solomon with me on Saturday to run my errands and he did beautifully, however, when we came home I was getting the groceries out of the car it all went down hill quickly.  I took the lead off Solomon and… Continue

AZ Cactus Corgi Rescue Spring Fling

Gromit and Holly and Debbie and I drove up to Phoenix for the Spring picnic hosted by Arizona Cactus Corgi Rescue.  There were about 70 Corgis in attendance but only about 20 left for the end of the day photo. The park people are probably still trying to sweep up all the Corgi fur left behind.

Vet check up on 03/17/2011

Kiba had a vet visit on Thursday for a quick check up and a skin scraping. He is doing good and the skin scraping came back with only a few of the mites left! I'm really happy to know that all of this is almost over! The vet gave us more Ivermectin and told us to return in a month for another skin scraping. I hope the next one comes back clean and that we never have to go through this again!

Shaved butt =[

I took Charlie to petsmart to get the furminator wash and asked them to trim around his poop shoot (I think that's what everyone called it here lol) and I stressed that I only wanted that part trimmed. When I went to pick him up the guy trimmed way to much. It looks likes a mini lawn mower went through his fluff. I am only so upset because the last time i took him, they did a nice job and didn't get rid of so much. This time it's a lot and I'm scared that it won't grow back! I just hope he…

Oona and the mighty chocolate bar.

About 10 mins ago I found my puppy Oona eating a cadbury "caramello" bar.

Started apply peroxide/water right away.

Have the emergency vet on speed dial if we need.

Cross fingers, say prayers, send out good thoughts for us please.

Post Pet Expo Report

As for pictures, I don't have any...but don't fret I will soon.

2 days of running, both times anywhere from 4 to 6 hour spans.

Jazmin came out with a ton of new friends, learned a few new tricks, and made out well.

Lets start with the free stuff

6 new tennis balls, 4 of which are AirKong balls

1 new dog doy

2  Mardi gras beads which she proudly wore through the show.

2 frisbee's which aren't the highest quality.

Way, Way more…

Trying the thundershirt??

I really didn't want to turn my Odie into a dope-fiend!  But he does have anxiety issues periodically, when there's a thunderstorm, or sometimes when we go on long road trips (any longer than 20 miles is too long for him).  So... instead of making him all dopey, which I REALLY wasn't about to do, I found out about the thundershirt.

I just ordered one on Amazon (a size medium, hopefully it won't be too big!) and I can't wait to try it out.  According to the videos on the website, it…

Ready to make a move

I think it is time to make a move and get Jeckyl a friend. We are in Aurora Colorado and are loooking for a male pup. Are there any in this area?

Jeckyl is now 11 yrs. old, diabetic, lost 1 eye about 6 mos. ago and is blind in the other.

His personality has not changed, his senses are on alert always now.

He is starting to slow a bit so we think it is time to get him jolt of energy. There is liitle for him to do while we are working. He lost his companion back in…

Corgi's day out~

So today has been a very fulfilled day =) every other friday we go out to Tualitin to get my neice and drive all the way back out to St Helens to drop her off with her dad (my brother)

2:30pm rilled around and i hooked Ace into his Harness. It was wet and rainy outside but a dog needs his walk and i had things needing done lol. So we walked to Sears to pay on my dads lawnmower bill (he asked me the night before) and as a good pet owner i asked the people inside if it were alright to…

a name?

Agonizing over what to name my corgi. I've been thinking about this for years and I am no closer to a name now than I was 4 years ago!!

It has to begin with the letter P. Why? I have no idea. It just feels right. So far I have been toying with:

  • Pono - Hawaiian word for 'the right thing to do' or goodness, lots of personal meaning to it.
  • Peanut - the word that comes to mind when I see the little puppies
  • Paczki - (punch-key) a delicious…
