Lando Oliver and his ear.

The vet said his bandage can stay on for five days. The problem is

1. I have tried to gently start removing the tap around the base of his ear and he is yelping, not sure I can even get to removing the bandage. If he is that sensitive  I don't think I will even have the chance to get to the bandage. Should I take him back to the vet to take remove it, I don't want him to associate me with this mess.

2. I am really scared to see what his poor little ear will…

8 Weeks Old

My boyfriend and I picked up Charlie from Sunny Garden Farm this past Saturday. We met his dad (big boy!) and his littermates, and the lovely Sandy Johnson, owner of Sunny Garden.

The car ride home was pretty smooth, he sat in daddy's lap for a bit and then slept the rest of the way on mine.

Corgi Eating

My wife and I have a very cute 6 month old female pembroke named Leena.  She is very energetic and playful (sometimes TOO playful for her playmate Parker - a 6 year old golden retriever). She is also a pretty healthy weight (about 19 or 20 lbs already) .However, she is very picky about her food.  Some days she will only eat one meal (1.5 cups of her food.  The bag reccommends about 3.5 - 4 a day).  She did just get over a parasite and severe dehydration (we are glad we did not take the vet's… Continue

Bladder

LeeLoo has her first bladder infection (with us).  I became suspicious about two weeks ago when she peed in the house.  She usually is left home for the day alone and we've never had any problems.  She has peed 4 times inside throughout the past two weeks and has also thrown up twice.  Just a summer note of caution if you notice any of these uncharacteristic behaviors in your dog.  Her activity (and cuteness) level has stayed the same.  We almost shrugged it off as 'oh, it's summer and she's…

A year full of Rhun

So Rhun went into the vet for his annual check up and vaccination. Which mean we have had our little boy for a year now. man does time go by so fast. We have been through so much yet it still seems like we just got him. It hasn't been an easy year either, we have gone through his neuter where he was a very slow heeler we as we found out there was no complications but it too a while for the skin to heel enough for him to start going back to regular activities. Then we found out he had bad…

Pet Armour Plus

Boo Boo the Bear isn't our first dog; but he is our first Corgi. We had a cocker spaniel & a scotty terrier, Ripley & Toby respectively.

I was unaware of the flea medications out there with Rips and Tobers so the inevitable happened, and I had a flea infestation in my house.  OMG!  the cost was horrid...  I think I spent almost $1000 trying to get rid of them that summer.

Now I'm wiser and started using frontline plus, but I've read in my consumer…

My beautiful and brave Lando Oliver

Lando Oliver is now missing a small part of his ear and has a puncture wound above his eye. Rexx attacked him again. There was blood everywhere including my face. We got him to the vet and he is stitched up. I am devastated by this and we have nearly decided to have Rexx euthanized. My love Lando Oliver was wagging his nub and being his friendly little self at the vet and I am so upset that he had to go through that.

Please send good vibes to my Lando Oliver to get better…

Newbie Corgi Owner

We just got our first pembroke corgi last wednesday, 7-13.  I've heard a lot of talk about whether to shave or not to shave..  that is the question I guess...  What would be the reasons NOT shave a corgi???  Does their hair get course?  I know the obvious reasons for shaving them, keeping them cool and shedding...

I've noticed Boo Boo parks his cute little fanny right in front of the major AC vent and sleeps there most of the day.  We haven't kept him out long, maybe 5/10…

Dog Beaches

Wanted to take Ellie for her first visit to a beach and see how she liked it so went on the internet and searched for Dog Beaches in Iowa--the only one that came up was Lake Red Rock.   WHAT A JOKE! We loaded up our Corgi, drove 40 miles to get there just to find out the main beach was closed for the season due to high water levels. However, we were informed there was another beach on the other side of the dam. we made the trip to the other side to find no facilities other than port-a-potties… Continue

Turmeric capsules for pain relief?

I just received an email from an orthopedic surgeon friend who had chronic back and leg pain. He wrote that he started taking 2 turmeric capsules and "cannot believe how much this has taken away my leg pain. This is best I have felt in over a decade and it has taken my limp away. I am usually a huge skeptic of these kind of treatment. It has only been a week and I know it may be placebo, but this has been very dramatic. So far, I have not had any side effects...Look it up in Wikipedia before…

I guess I am just a pet owner is pissed off. I am the proud owner of a Corgi, and a pitbull. Yes i said it A PITBULL. Lately I have become very much interested in rescuing dogs. I go to these websites especially for Corgi rescues and see all these dogs that are given up. Many of the reasons these dogs are given up is because of stupid reasons. One website Someone was a corgi was going to die because their owner's neighbor did not appreciate the barking. Seriously? What is wrong with people?…

They didn't grow under her heart, but they're growing in it..

This is an article in the Argus Leader, the local newspaper in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  I don't know if her owners have a page here, so if I put this up before they get to it - I am sorry for stealing your thunder, I just wanted to share what an awesome girl you have!

Time flies, Cocosette swims!

Can't believe my fur-baby is 13 weeks old now.  She's growing overnight, it seems like.  Every morning I wake to a larger dog.  Even had to buy her a new collar as she'd outgrown the first one.  I must say, for a medium-small dog, corgis have thick necks!

Our weekend trips to the lake are paying off; Cocosette swam out twice to me.  So… Continue

Emmy's Top 8

I'm sure most of you remember myspace and the "Top 8" that we could have there. Well because I missed out on blogging for Emmy's first few weeks at home, I thought I'd go backwards a bit to update on her top 8 best friends. I don't have pictures of all of them, but I do have a few so here goes.

1. Cammy - Emmy's number one best friend. Cammy is an Australian Shepherd that lives across the street from Emmy. They often go out to potty at the same time, which means that Emmy…

I decided to bake him a banana-ginger doggie cake. I didn't…
