Owen's Puppy Shower, Levi, Swimming and Stairs!

It has been a busy weekend for Owen! On Friday night we had friend and family over for a housewarming/puppy shower. Owen was amused by people and children alike. I was so afraid of people feeding him food but we kept a close eye on him between Matt, me and my parents. He got to play with kids and have a great time! He was out for the count by the end of the night and we didn't hear boo from him until 9am the next day. I love it when he sleeps for that long! I also love it when he gets… Continue

My Charlie is at home now.

I brought my puppy home last Friday. He is a very happy little boy. Thanks to the breeder (who started crate-training him some time ago) he slept through the first night (and other nights) without any whining or waking up in the middle of the night.

He is very corgi-smart. He already learned "sit" command. Now he follows me everywhere and sits every minute, looking me in the eye. Of course, he gets no treats for that unsolicited sitting, but still it's very funny.

My cat… Continue

Not much news...just an update

Tigger had to go in for his second heartworm treatment this morning! I was really sad and a little apprehensive about it because he has to stay the night for the 2 rounds of treatment. Tig has been feeling so good for the last week, he looks so fantastic- none of his rib bones are poking out anymore! He was finally back to his happy healthy self- running, barking and jumping. Now, it will be one more month of lockdown. When I dropped him off at our vet, I gave them a big bag of all of his… Continue

First day of day care

Ein is at his first day of doggy day care. We didn't think he was getting enough exercise or socialization, so we've decided to try doggy day care for the day. We definitely won't take him there every day-it's too expensive. But, maybe once a week, we'll see how he does today.

Le-Le is ready for the rain... well maybe not...

I just posted pictures of Le-Le is her fashion present from LA. My good friend sent us a raincoat that did not fit her Shih Tzu and she sent it on to us for Le-Le. Well we did a fashion show at my sister's last weekend. Le-Le is a really good sport. She has never had any clothes on before plus having to do this in front of her pals..... The dogs did not know what to make of this and us humans laughed pretty hard. Le-Le was embarrassed about the whole thing. Punch barked at the coat and Tilo was… Continue

People, their kids, and my dog

Let me just preface this by saying that I was a nanny for 2 years. I am a teacher. I love kids. But, I really didn't like these 3 little girls at the dog park yesterday.

First off, they were unattended. Their adult was in the vicinity, but wasn't paying attention. Well, these little girls were trying to pet every dog in the area. There were a variety of dogs there and they were all playing with each other. They seemed to want to do nothing with human babies. So, here come Cam and I.… Continue

Cocoa Garden Mulch

I was in a local nursery this morning and over heard a woman asking about cocoa garden mulch. I had to ask her if she was a dog owner because of the dangers of the product to dogs. See http://www.avma.org/onlnews/javma/jun06/060601b.asp for more information. The nursery didn't have any warning signs up, the clerk didn't know about the danger, and neither did the customer. I was so glad I was able to stop this before it happened, but I wonder how I can spread the… Continue

Family Dogs Visit the San Dimas Dog Park

Mac and I go to the San Dimas Dog Park from time to time. We went again this morning except this time we had company. My cousin brought her dog Baxter. My other cousin and her husband are dog-sitting for the parents-in-law. They brought along Miki.

It was a first time visit to the dog park for Baxter. And it was the first time the three dogs met for the first time. They all hit it off well from start and had a lot of fun at the park.

Here's a link to the pictures from this… Continue

It's all fun and games until....

Marley loves to play with one of our cats, Pete. And he really enjoys wrestling back. They are almost exactly the same size so they are on pretty equal terms. However it is all fun and games until someone gets hurt. I came home from work Wed night and Pete wasn't putting any weight on his right front paw. I ran my fingers over it and - ouch - crunchy sounds! So I brought him for x-rays and they showed two broken toes:( :( So now he is in a splint for 6-8 weeks! Although there were no eye… Continue

The Cliche Butt-Drag

Well, I thought we figured this problem out, but I suppose I was wrong. Cheez-it has a hot-spot right next to his butt and he pulled his hair out at the same location, it looks horrible. I noticed it last night and it is in an area where it could be worms or an anal-sac problem.

I oatmeal bathed him and gave him a good furminating and E-collared him for good measure until I could take him to the vet (which doesnt open until Monday!). He has quickly learned that he can sit and "chase… Continue

The dog days of summer...

Here we are, with the second week of August behind us, and I'm getting ready to go back to work. Camber and I have been spending loads of quality time together and I just realized how much I was going to miss her come September. Being a teacher has its time advantages and Cam and I would hang out on the couch or in the backyard...she's going to miss me.

I've had to meet at the school these last couple of days, so I'm getting her used to the idea that I won't be around as much. But,… Continue

Trice's 1st Visit with us

We picked up Trice from the breeder last night so he can spend the weekend with us at our apartment. We gated off the kitchen for him, complete with a crate, pee pads, toys and food/water at feeding times. The breeder says he is completely house trained at her house. She also has a large yard for him to play in. We live on the 2nd floor, so there is no yard for us.

When he's in our kitchen area he pees and poops on the pads but when he's outside in the living area, he pees on the… Continue

Saying Good-bye to Rudy

Hi everyone. I have some sad news to share. We had to have Rudy euthanized.

Lately, he's taken to attacking us (me in particular) and the other dogs. We knew when we took him into our home that he had some very real problems with aggression. And we had high, high hopes we could help him to find a more peaceful life. But...

In the past two weeks, he's been viciously aggressive. He's bitten me twice before. But on Thursday, some switch went off in his brain. I really don't… Continue

My Corgis Personalities

Molly- somewhere between a know-it-all tomboy and a diva. When you pick her up, you must be very particular as to never grab her around her ribs or under her armpits...she's very sensitive. Yet, she's super athletic and she doesn't really like to be told what to do or be corrected- she just gives you dirty looks. She will look at me over the top of her paws, using corgitelepathy, "YOU WANT TO TAKE ME FOR A WALK." In the car, if she is in the back seat, she only wants to be let out of the… Continue

Newly appointed organizer

Well, Lindsay Wilson has moved to Idaho and made me the new organizer for Inland Empire Corgis Meetup (formerly Rancho Cucamonga Corgis) on MeetUp.com.

Our next event is a play day at Baldy View Park in Upland. I hope some of you folks can attend.

By the way, if any one out there is near San Diego, I'm taking my triad for a beach play date on Coronado tomorrow, 8/15/08. I'm meeting up with the adopter of my first successful foster to see how things are going and to let Koda and… Continue

Fleas and other problems..

So... I've been to the vet 4 times in the past week. The first time was for Scout and Bindi and their flea problem. Then, Bindi threw up about 20 times for (I think) eating something she should not have eaten in the backyard. Next, Scout is peeing blood and cannot control it. So...

1) Bindi is better, but she is still itching and biting herself like crazy. But... no more vomit.

2) Scout is still biting and itching a lot. I keep finding fleas on both of them and have given… Continue

I-Corgi

A friend sent the cutest Facebook "Piece of Flair" called I-Corgi and it's of a sillhouette of a corgi listening to an iPod. This is very fitting of hubby and I because we are completely obsessed with all things corgi and all things Apple. =)
