Dodger's Homecoming!

So as you all know, Dodger came home yesterday. Yay! Unfortunately, he was so tuckered out from the long drive home that he made it hard to get any photos of him. So, today I finally managed to get some photos of him interacting with his new home. I am, however, sad that his ears won't be standing up till a few more weeks. He was one of the more bigger pups from the litter so it's going to take his ears a bit more before they stand up (although they do stand up in his sleep, oddly…

Bailey in need

"A big "thank you" to Teresa, Jennifer, Shanna, Linda and Madeline for your kindness and support of Bailey in his time of need!  I will be posting photos tomorrow."

Manhattan, KS

It's Saturday and I have the whole day free. Anyone got any ideas of what there is to do with a 9 week old puppy in manhattan, KS? Is he too young to go to the dog park? We start puppy classes next week, so should I wait till then to take him to a dog park?

A primer for picking a pooch.

I really hope Corgis don't become too popular...

The Wait Begins

We finally got confirmation on the breeding schedule for the litter our puppy will be from. It's looking like puppies will be expected by the end of September/early October, which means puppies will go to their new homes (our home!) around the end of the year/early 2014.

That is a long time to have the "I WANT A DOG" pangs, but the wait will be worth it.

I'm continuing to read everything I can about the breed and refreshing myself on puppy rearing basics. It's been many… Continue

Wedding Corgi

So I'm thinking about having Dodger wear a little tux to our wedding. It's just an idea so far and I haven't decided if I'll take him along yet or not, but I'm really considering taking him with us to the wedding. Just wondering if anyone else has taken their corgi/corgis to their wedding or someone else's wedding and how it turned out?

good and bad news

Got some exciting news this morning. I was contacted by BBC. They would like to use videos of our Corgis working cows in a new series called "The Wonder of Dogs." This series will begin airing this fall, they saw the Animal Planet video and really want to show our dogs doing their thing!

Bad news, we are not going to get Joey puppies, Katie did not take. We did find out that one of Joeys puppies has sired puppies that will be born soon so we can possibly get a joey grandson. The…

Surprise!

So Jonathan has been plotting and planning something and didn't tell me. Well last night we sat down and he said he knew how much I've been trying to start traditions in our household when he surprised me with this:

It's a Corgi in a stocking Christmas ornament! I don't now how he got it or how long he's been planning on surprising me with it, but it was really sweet of him to pick out our first Christmas ornament. And I know Christmas is still a little bit off, but…

Winnie De Fluffy

Winston aka WinnieDFluffy is an almost 7 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi that we've had since he was 8 weeks old. He came from a kennel near Berwyn, NE. This is an update on Winston's issues of late. Things are not going well, but he's still high spirited, ornery & still fights with his traffic cone.…

Happy Birthday Pumpkin

I spent the morning baking pupcakes for my darling Pumpkin, who today is 12 Years old. I'm so happy to look into her adoring eyes every morning when she jumps on the bed. I can see that sometimes it's an effort to get up after a snooze, and her hearing isn't what it was, but when she hops along the sidewalk I'm thrilled. She still has that puppy look with a little grey eye liner! This evening all her dog neighbors will get a pupcake & wish her the best. I'm the luckiest corgi mom…

Bailey needs your help

Three weeks ago, Bailey was frapping in the yard and running full speed as corgis do.  He tripped and slammed his chest into a wood step.  He seemed to be OK, but the next morning Bailey's back legs were paralyzed.  I rushed him to the vet and after tests, they determined he had spinal cord damage.  The vet sent us to a veterinary surgeon and after more tests it showed he needed surgery immediately. The surgery went well.  He stayed at the surgeons for 5 days. He is now recovering at home…
